  • Cycle Touring Mexico - Guadalajara to Tula Finally, we are cycling out of Guadalajara and towards Tula. Along the way we cycle on more back roads, but still use the toll (D roads) when we need to. As we cycle through Mexico's Central Highlands region we will work our way to Tula. In Tula we plan on visiting the Mesoamerican archeological site which at one time was an important regional center of the area and reached its peak of importance during the Toltec Empire.
    Food/Water: Plenty of places all along the highway and in the towns, so no issues there.

      Hey there Jay! Yeah all is good my friend. We hit a rough spot (nothing too bad) and creating videos just feel behind, then even further behind that instead of totally stressing over it, we decided to just hold off until we could start editing them again. We hope to get caught up real quick though and not fall this far behind again. Hope all is going well over there in Thailand for you. We'll try to also get caught up with your adventures as well. We totally just put CZcams out of our minds until we could focus on it again. Take care and happy cycling! Ron & Petra

      @@PedalPowerTouring I'm pretty much in the same head space just cone off a three-month ride in the UK and US and can't be bothered to edit any of the footage. There's more to life than CZcams!! Take care :)

      Merci Julie and Family! While your girls are kicking butt cycling the world, these long long climbs can be tough, so maybe wait a few years before trying to take them on would be best. Happy Cycling to you all and see you down the road. ~Ron & Petra

    Good tales of your travels and stops. Love the town market stall scenes and that campground with coffee provided, but man, I could not STAND to stop in such a location by a freeway to have any second breakfast. Horrible traffic noise. Are there no decent pleasant backroads that lead through as an alternative route?

    • @PedalPowerTouring
      @PedalPowerTouring  Před rokem

      thank you Peter! The traffic wasn't too bad and from what we could see, it was worse down on the regular road. Heavy traffic, bad roads, and no shoulder. At least up on the "D" (toll) road we had a nice wide shoulder and typically very nice asphalt. We were also told be some other local cyclists that taking the toll road through this area was probably the safest place to be since it is patrolled by the military. Although I am pretty sure we would have been ok, this area is known for some shady stuff. Also in this video, that is pretty much it for toll roads. From this point south it's either dirt or regular type roads. ~Ron

      Hey there 1980Dog! Many thanks for the compliment and for still following along. We hit a rough spell and fell so far behind in our videos. I am trying to get caught up, but again for the past three days I have been pretty sick with what I am sure was COVID or the flu so no video tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed next Friday. Take care and happy cycling to you my friend. ~Ron

    Flying up to Deadhorse in 2 weeks to start my own journey to Ushuaia, starting to feel a bit nervous. Any last minute tips? Glad to see you guys are doing well and enjoying the trip.

      Hello Jeff and great to hear! You’re going to be fine! Hope you already ordered your bear spray from the General Store in Daeadhorse, dropped shipped some food to Coldfoot, but if not do it today or make sure you have enough food because there is nothing out there to resupply with. Not sure how the mosquitoes are this late in the season, but have plenty of mosquito 🦟 coils and a black mosquito head net. Be prepared for all kinds of weather. Good luck and please let us know how the Dalton Highway treated you! ~Ron and Petra

    Your vids are great, however, you keep staying on major roads with traffic. It’s off putting. Also, what’re you using for navigation/ maps/ route finding/ and cyclo comp? I do like how you note the names down of places. The traffic roads get very boring and blah to watch.

      Hello Abbas and thank you for checking us out. Yes sadly when we left Mazatlán we did cycle on the toll highway (15D) for some time. This was suggested and recommended to us by a few local cyclists and a fellow Mexican cycle tourist. It wasn't much fun that is for sure, but 15D (toll road) pretty much paralleled 15 (free road). The free road had a ton of traffic and no shoulder to cycle on, whereas, the toll road was in great condition, less traffic, and a huge shoulder. However, as we got closer to Temascalcingo and on our way to Tula, it was mostly smaller roads after that. Actually, it was a nice mixture of small roads, dirt roads, dirt paths, and some larger roads for the remainder of our time in Mexico. If we were to go back to Mazatlán we would take highway 40 across Mexico which was going to be our original route, but again we were told this was not a good way to go because of crime and such. However, we met many other cyclists that cycled that way and they loved it. Take care and happy cycling! ~Ron & Petra

    0:06 - who were all of the other cyclists?

    • @PedalPowerTouring
      @PedalPowerTouring  Před rokem

      Don't know. Just a group of roadies out getting their Sunday morning ride on. Some waved to us and I am guessing the others were in their zone or trying to not to get killed by the traffic. :-)
