  • In this video, our cycling adventure continues down the wild and dramatic Baja California Sur coast. After leaving San Ignacio we continue cycling on Highway One. These are our final days cycle touring Baja California Sur and we will visit and explore Santa Rosilia, an old mining town, Mulegé another oasis town in Baja California Sur, spend the night camping on Playa de Coyote, and take a short trip into Loreto. From Loreto we cut inland leaving Highway 1 as we cycle toward another old missionary village, San Javier before camping the night on a ranch with about 80 kids. After a very long day cycling on rough terrain, we finally pick up Highway 1 again and make our way to La Paz where we take the overnight ferry to mainland Mexico to continue our adventure.

      Hi SandPine, Thank you for watching we are happy you enjoyed the video. Are you currently in Sinaloa? The mainland is so different from the Baja, we went from dry desert and being hot to super green landscape and humid. It is a nice change. Cheers

    I wish there was a love button❣️ I love keeping track of you two❣️ I love that Petra is adding to the narrative❣️That dirt road!! 😳😬 The Cobblestone Street with a center ditch🥰 The reaction of the cows😊… you are a wonderful videographer!!! Have you thought about changing careers to something in film?😉 (The only bad thing about these videos, is waiting in between😉) Thank you❣️ and Godspeed!

      Hi BJB quilts. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for your super nice and encouraging comment. Just the fact that you stopped by and left a comment is worth a 1000 ❤❣❤Much appreciated. We tried making a video a week, but unfortunately it takes quite a bit of time and work to create one of these videos. Not to mention that it is not always easy having good internet to upload while we are on the road. That is why we decided on a biweekly schedule. Sorry to make you wait.

    I'm amazed that you take time to capture the footage with (nightfall) milestones that need to be met. It is great footage so thank you. I agree it's nice to get Petra in front of the mike.

      Thank you Jenni for following along. Yeah the cows, goats and horses can be pretty entertaining when we ride by them. Glad you enjoyed our narrative, we'll try to give some more info about the places we see and the route we are taking. Maybe it helps people on planning their own future trip.

    Ron & Petra,
    Another wonderful video of your adventure. Not that we don't enjoy your narration Ron, but it was nice to hear Petra's lovely voice describing your days adventures.
    Thank you again for sharing the sites, scenery and your experiences. I too would have taken advantage of camping under that palapa next to the Sea of Cortez, even if it meant for a longer day tomorrow.
    I am sure, I am not alone as we always are looking forward to the next chapter.
    Enjoy and ride safe...Ted

    Very enjoyable, again. You two make a good team when you alternate in doing the narration. I'm trying to place Petra's accent. It's pleasant to listen to while I try to figure out why it sounds almost familiar. Maybe you shouldn't give us the answer just yet.

      Hi John, thank you for following along and for the kind words. We are glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah, it took a while for me, Petra, to get up the courage to narrate, but it turns out it's not as bad as I thought it was going to be 😅. Maybe we shouldn't tell what accent it is and have people guess on a poll, lol.

    Wow, thank you so much for sharing these videos! I have just found them, this is my second one watching, but I'm already totally entranced. I am a cyclist and this is like watching a dream. Thank you so much for sharing. If you have a story of how you planned this trip, I'd love to hear it! I'm going to be watching some of the central america videos next. :) Bravo!

      Hello Elizabeth! Thank you so much for finding us and following along! Happy to hear you're enjoying the videos so far. You may also like the ones from Alaska. We don't have a story or video about how we planned this, but that is a great suggestion and the first time someone asked about this. We will add it to our list of videos that we need to create. We can say this though, if this is something you really want to do, it will happen. Do your best to live within your means, save as much money as you can (pay yourself first on payday), set a date when you would like to start regardless of how far out it is (took us 3 years to do our first world tour in 2013-2015) and 5 years for this one. Then the hardest part of all.... quitting your job and taking off. Our best advice is, everything will be fine once you do. If you ever have any questions and we can help, please feel free to message us. Take care and happy cycling to you. ~Ron & Petra

      @PedalPowerTouring  Před 2 lety

      Hello Thomas and thank you for watching the video. It varies, but we typically like to take one or two days off every 5 or 6 days of cycling. However, sometimes we have been known to take longer off if we need it. Again thanks for checking us out and we just posted a long over due video. Cheers, your friends Ron & Petra

  • @the_new_green_deal_doe6888

    Thank you for this wonderful material and filming, as well as your blog! I'll be cycling Tijuana to La Paz and back north over June and July. Do you have any reassurance to offer for the summer heat and highway 1 conditions & trucks? They're my sole worries for this trip.

    • @PedalPowerTouring
      @PedalPowerTouring  Před rokem

      Apologize for the late reply. I am assuming you are already under way. However, just in case you're not. Can't really comment on the summer heat since cycled during the winter months. I would image though it is pretty hot. As the traffic, we never really had any issues with the truckers. There were several times we would exit the road when there was oncoming traffic just so we didn't slow the trucker down, but this was very rare. We also crossed in Tecate, then cycled to Ensenada, then across to Highway 5. Cycled on 5 until the end and then we had to get on Highway 1, so I think we missed most of the bad traffic from Tijuana to the point where these two meet. We do know of two other cyclists that came down Highway 1 from Tijuana and they wished they had crossed over like we did to Highway because of traffic and the road conditions on 1 being bad. All the best and would like to hear back from you on how the ride went. Take care! ~Ron & Petra

    what type (size) of tires are being used? Tubeless? Thank you for sharing the ride.

    • @PedalPowerTouring
      @PedalPowerTouring  Před 2 lety

      Hello Silvio! Thank you for checking out our video. We are using Schwalbe Mondial Marathon 26x2.0 tires and no they are not tubeless. Personally, I don't think tubeless is the way to go for long term touring. Cheers ~Ron
