This song was always moving. I just listened to it again, and it destroyed me. My wife died in December. She and I loved music, listened to it together, talked about it, introduced each other to new songs and artists. "Dancing In The Dark" was our wedding song. I miss her so much, there aren't words for it -- except maybe here and there in this song.

This was my Dad's funeral song, that he had chosen in advance. I was 15 when he died in 2008. I remember singing it word for word inside my head as I cried a river at his send off, he always loved Bruce Springsteen, he took me and my Mam to see him perform live in Cardiff it was amazing, still have very clear memories of that night. I must of been around 11, 12 years of age at that time. I also love Bruce myself, thanks to my Dad. I am now 29, almost 30, I have just listened to this, I have probably only listened to this song 3 times since the funeral of my Dad. It's crazy how this songs words now mean so much to me, in my life as it is, 14yrs on. It brings tears to my eyes, but, this is how I now feel about my partner, like my Dad felt towards my Mum, this was always his song to her. Happy memories xx

I'm here on what was Clarence's birthday to listen to this special song. My marriage didn't work out either, Heather. I do believe in true love but I think I lost my soul mate decades ago in a car accident. While I've had love, nothing has been the same. I hope you find it if you're looking for it.

My mom asked for this to be played at her funeral. She was a major Springsteen fan. Revisiting over a year later, it still brings tears to my eyes.

Everything is unbelievably special in this live version of the song, the rhythm, the beautiful contrast among voices along the verses, including Clarence’s and his sax solo. I’ve listened it numerous times over the last ten years and I always enjoy every second of it. Certainly part of my life’s soundtrack.

I was lucky to be there. As Bruce and the EStreet Band hadn't toured together in years, I felt the lyrics were meant that no matter where their lives had been they'd still be bound together. Almost brought me to tears, incredible how each singer made the lyrics their own. Bruce's concerts are never just about him, he gives center stage to all. Miss you MFC, my BRUCE concert companion.

Saw Bruce and E Street do this song in Pittsburgh, PA. A wonderful convert, and of all the songs, this one was the best.
I cry every time I hear it, but seeing this live version (the same one I saw in Pittsbirgh) here I could not control my emotions.
What a band, with seven world-class musicians on their own rights performing as a group of one heart and real love for one another.
When I first rediscovered Bruce’s music within the last couple of years I first fell in love with his version of this one with Patti live in Dublin. Then I fell in love with this one. Such an exquisitely beautiful song no matter the version. The Boss is a brilliant songwriter/ musician/singer!❤
When I heard this song the first time, when I was listening to the newly released Lucky Town album, I thought I was hearing a new standard. That didn't happen right away, because the Lucky Town and Human Touch albums were not fan favorites, people were upset that he toured with a different band, etc. The early '90s were a valley in the Springsteen saga. But the song got its due eventually, with the reunion tour. This version and the very Irish one you mention are both great.
What a version of a stunningly beautiful song. And here, imo, Bruce’s voice was at its prime.
The only thing missing from this song was the harmonica
