This song was the last one my late wife danced with me to. Her health was not good but this song came on and she said 'dance with me' so we did, around the living room. Later that afternoon she said she was feeling tired and was going to curl up on the sofa and have a nap. She died peacefully in her sleep a couple of hours later. We had this playing as her coffin was carried out from the funeral home.

He first did this live on the Reunion tour with the E street band in 1999. At the end of the concert he opened the singing of this , and then each band member stepped up to the mic and sang...just as moving for different reasons. The man s a genius at connecting with people through his music.
This is the best Bruce Springsteen has done! He had this on his Lucky Town album. It wasn’t the same song! Him turning it into a waltz and changing the words for his wife was genius! He has wrote many good songs but this one tops! I’ve been listening to Bruce since the late 70’s! Way to go Bruce

I think this is one of the most beautiful love songs ever written! The lyrics are clearer in some other renditions but if you hear it as both partners singing to each other, it speaks to the compromises that are the sharing of love and mutual respect and support in a strong relationship. 💕

@@gafordwilliams6641 i am well thanks, i was for a long time is the millitair clinic for burning alle my leg in the 3degree, ons afther a lot of surgerie i am back home but patient is hard because IT was burned in the 3 degree so i have every dat help from nurses end therapie but of will take a year for bieing mezelf Again, zo evert dat nurses and kiné therapie but in smalle easy movements. Sometimes of is hard but i will survive! I am greatfull with the 3 degree burn. But i have to say strong but the days that are more people that watch what they do.
Sometimes its hart because of familly lives in Holland. But ons i hope this schit dissapeare its this line that somethings warm of heart.

I was hoping to do this duet with my husband, Scott ❤ and had entered the contest that was to take place May of 2020 in New Jersey. But then COVID hit and it seems like the whole world came to a halt.
Not sure, if my late husband was relieved that he wouldn't have to do that duet with me. I laughed because I really would have liked going to NJ to meet Springsteen. My husband was a great fan of his and knew all the lyrics to his songs.
Sadly Covid snatched my husband more than a year later 09/2021
and every time I come across this beautiful tune I have to stop and listen to it. It brings back such memories - bittersweet - and hopefully he'll be waiting for me when the Good Lord calls me Home.

I’ve been listening to Bruce since both of us were a lot younger and he played with a swagger that had the ladies falling over each other. Both of us are many decades older than that now. He and the Seeger Sessions band are still the best I’ve ever heard, and me, I’ve just grown older. All that said, I think this is one of the most, if not the most powerful recordings ever made.
One of my favorite Bruce Springsteen songs -- sung with heart by the E Street Band and here in Sessions band style...
