It's definitely an Unreal 5 tech demo for now, but they put way too much into this being tied to the Matrix for it not to be leading into a game in the future.

It's going to be a full game. They wouldn't have invested this much in a demo, especially around the time of a new Matrix, and the fact that UE5 is on a mission.
Its been like 20 years and the world is ready to tap into the full potential of the matrix again, lets bring it back baby

I just tried this out on the ps5 and it was so cool, I had my mouth open for the whole car chase scene! Then explored the city for about 20 minutes, stunning!
I did the same thing on the Series X. By the end, I was wishing this was a full game.
How I imagine a Matrix game would go is similar to a mix between GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Spider Man PS4. It would be a single player, open world game where you can interact with the world and have the choice to do whatever you want, however if you draw too much attention to yourself, Agents will spawn by taking over nearby civilians and hunting you down, like police in GTA basically. If you hide for long enough they’ll basically lose interest in you. There will be side quests and whatnot, but there will also be certain locations you can go to in order to make progress in the story campaign, whatever that will be. Then on the multiplayer side of things, it would basically just be Red Dead Redemption 2’s multiplayer experience where you can play a side story driven by characters that are completely separate to the main campaign with online friends or strangers who are also exploring the world.
This might be a controversial idea, but I’d also love to see if they could implement real world aspects into the campaign, like maybe we could have an option to switch between the real world (on a ship) or the Matrix, and that would kind of raise the stakes a bit since you’d also have to worry about dangers in reality as well as within the Matrix, which would make it more unique compared to other open world games so far.
I think that a matrix game would be more like an Assasins creed game, the "In matrix" would probably be more like a GTA game ye, but once in a while you will get out the "simulation" like AC games and play in the real world for some short story-driven parts
@@ambros6317 Yeah that’s exactly what I was trying to describe, thanks. What I meant to imply was that it would basically be a mix of other open world games along with the Assassin’s Creed mechanic of being able to interact with the real world as well as the virtual one as well within the story and have two different points of progression
For those confused it's not a game in the making its a playable tech demo for unreal engine 5 but set in the world of the matrix. That's not to say it won't ever be a game but as of now it's a playable tech demo for UE5 and nothing else.
And it's still so great to watch.

Just played this on my ps5 and I can tell u.... it's amazing. If this doesnt become like a GTA type of open world game then they are missing something big. And I'm they do it in VR it's game over.

I'm waiting for the moment when we'll be able to play an entire game with the style of Spiderverse, or in the style of the last Watchdogs trailer (the trailer was so much better than the game). I'm more attracted to how these engines will improve artistic styles than with realism

Played the game and it's so UNREAL. When I crash to cars, there are frame delays but it captures the realism and physics of the car crash like in the movies. The metahuman part is not yet really realistic as it does but Neo and Trinity, like I can't figure out what's real and what's not. The green filter really made the game looks so cinematic that made this game so UNREAL. This game will be the first UNREAL ENGINE exclusive. Petition to continue making this game.
10:15 When you get to walk around in--universe, the way the CGI looks and the way the characters move, the way the camera is oriented, it all feels VERY Spider-Man PS4, doesn't it? But in a GOOD way, like they took all the best non-spider mechanics and made a new game out of the code for it or something. A matrix out of a matrix.
We are witnessing the huge leap forward in game technology. Once developers start getting used to this new engine, every game will have the potential to be amazing

Some of those tech demos are kinda ruined by the CZcams compression. at 9:38 for example, toggling Displayed/rendered pixels basically shows how much it affects jaggies and aliasing. It's noticeable when you play it, but difficult to discern on a video.
You do know you can actually download and play this demo yourself. Apparently they're eventually making this into a full fledged game.

This entire thing is in Unreal Engine 5. This blew my freaking mind. I want a new full-blown Matrix game in Unreal Engine 5! Whoever came up with this is a genius. Give that person a raise.
All the classic matrix games were a part of my childhood. This gives me goosebumps. Brings me back to the old days where you would catch "The Matrix" (1999) on live cable from time to time and even had the dvd of it haha...It's so mind boggling to me how they executed this with Unreal Engine 5....As a gamer, this is a breath of fresh air. It just gives my eyes such an orgasm lol. Beautifully done and the marketing is on point just wow. "The Matrix: Resurrections" is released worldwide on "12-22-21"....Such a unique date, i love how they did all this. Looking forward to everything you can do in this simulated matrix. The fact that you have the abilities to mess with everything from the environments, NPcs, objects, etc. I love how you can manipulate all of that to YOUR preference and liking. This is such a creative tool that will immerse you so deeply. This is by far the best reveal and presentation of a game ever and of course what better game to showcase none other than the matrix...perfect game/movie to show off with unreal engine 5. Excited

Make no mistake about it. This tech demo DOES NOT...REPEAT...DOES NOT show off the full capabilities of Unreal Engine 5. It WILL do full real-time photo realism. It is an absolute beast of an engine!

That looked great and I didn't notice any lag. Makes me wonder if this purely cinematic or actual gameplay.
its optimised which is why its not available on pc. they didnt want any lag. however there are expiremental settings you can turn on that does present some lag and other issues but its made aware before you activate them.
This video doesn't truly show how amazing that tech demo is, CZcams compresses the output. Has to be seen with your own eyes on your own TV to grasp how revolutionary some elements are.
I hope one day we can bring a new gaming era of augmented reality and VR to gaming. I think even game controllers and PC just want bring the immersion future gamers want. I personally think augmented reality will be the paradigm shift we need. Get people off the couch and into a creative world. Maybe the quantum computing will bring it to us. It would be interesting.
Showed this to my fad yesterday, we got the same reaction 😆 And just to Say i did play it first on ps2 so the remarkable difference with the Unreal Engine 5 is just sick. We Are gonna live under the simulation in the future i feel.

The point of the sun rotations was to show how far the shadow casting was being rendered. Most games that render shadows can only do so at a short distance. It appears UE5 solves that issue.

I’m pretty sure all the resources and everything went towards just to make a small demo to show you what the engine can do. I’m gonna be skeptical until a full-fledged game comes out and it looks exactly like this with actual combat and story. It’s one thing to show you how great the graphics is, but it’s another thing to make a full-fledged game with it. Hellblade 2 is using the unreal engine and that looks absolutely amazing.

Last demo I remember them doing was very similar to what is now forspoken so i would not be surprised if they make this fully fleshed out later on and make a real game instead of a demo

You know, what sells this so well is the fact that the gameplay actually looks EXACTLY like the CGI from one of the earlier sequel movies. It looks PERFECT. You KNOW this is what they really wanted to do when they made Path of Neo. And we don't even have to talk about Enter The Matrix. Forgive and forget. Never happened.
