The Best Level 1 Weapons In Escape From Tarkov

- Today we're looking at the best level 1 trader weapons in Tarkov's new patch 12.12.30! There have been some changes too, such as 762x39 PS getting a massive buff from 32 pen to 35 pen, which means that it is much better against class 4 than in the previous wipe.
Early wipe guns are typically used for either a) headshots b) thorax damage or c) leg meta. We'll be going through each one, and looking at our options across the traders with both semi auto and full auto models, as the choice will depend on your playstyle and the map that you want to go to.
Personally, my favourite is the PPSh for close quarters, as it's really cheap and has the biggest mags you can get a hold of early. For medium range engagements, the VPO136 is a winner with the updated PS rounds and the ability to add a railed cover along with a red dot sight right at LL1 traders!

The ADAR for rubles has returned. Along with 30 rd magazines and crazy amounts of 855 as USEC start, I feel it’s hard to beat.
I use mp18
Mosin, and insurance returns.
gone from level 1-13 with a vpo 209 and haven’t died with it yet

Do note that you can also use the ak100 hand guard for VPO.
It allows you to attach a foregrip and a blue laser sight. Which helps in close range is you need to.

Thx for the tips, it's nice to play with a laser this early.
ak100 grip is goat also at prapor ll2 you get the rubber butt thingie for pretty much every ak and it's so cheap but reduces recoil quite a bit.
For those looking for 9x19 Pst rounds, look at Fence's inventory. He's always at about 5k rounds Pst and various other ammo types.

Ive been enjoying the mp-18, that single shot 7.62x54 rifle. Bizarre but fun!
I heard someone it counts for shotgun kills, not sure if true but it could be very handy for quests

Had the same thing. Select Server on „Auto Select“ in the Launcher. Had wait times 15+ now it’s down to 2
As I said, auto select is enabled, I tried night woods various times, worked once after 20min waiting, while playing Fall Guys in the meantime.
Wont last forever, hang in there! Being a few days behind in a wipe really isnt that bad.
The early wipe experience, that's why I usually start a week or 2 later.

Haven't played the new wipe yet, but the changes you pointed out about the weapons and ammo actually had me interested. I feel like it's going towards the right direction. Hopefully even less items are available in flea and traders.
Two wipes in a row a scav ppsh has gotten me my first kills, its my go to day 1 for sure now

The 7.62 vepr km is such a good weapon. Good at mid range and i find i play better with it because i have to think about my engagements because i know i cant just run and gun into a room. Plus, running bp ammo early wipe is way more viable because you use a lot less. Super under rated gun
MP-18 is underrated - it shoots such a powerfull round, yet so fast to ADS and have such a good iron sights - hand just aims for the head on it's own.
To unforgiving for bad aim like mine 😂
Once you get lvl 2 jager you can put a scope on it and it slaps for such a cheap setup
But for some reason the acogs can’t go on it despite assault scopes and 30mm optics can

PPSh-41 with LRNPC from Jaeger is a solid little leg cruncher as well.

Made the vpo 136 build and had my best raid yet! fastest ive ever gotten lucky scav junk box! Also loving the dorms scav route for keys! super helpful

I think the trick with the PPSh (in a firefight) is to reload before you empty the magazine, making them faster and getting you back in the fight sooner. Although it is weird working with an open-bolt design where you never have a round in the chamber!

@@BallstinkBaron it's the ability to change mags without having to re-cock a weapon, out-matching your adversary's fire power tempo.
Nothing worse than getting them down the mid-mag change 😀 not that this has ever happened to me.

I've been having fun goofing off with everything! Saiga 9s, half-durability scav ADARs, SKS, brought the new break-action single shot 54R rifle into two raids but ended up insurance-frauding them both times before I got to shoot them :D
I like the Saiga 9 quite a bit for the low recoil. Killed a PMC with the ADAR but only because he was bamboozled: that thing with 855 takes a long time to kill with body shots. Got a nice headshot on a sniper scav on woods with the SKS, but like you my aim is not really good enough to live with the ten-round magazine and thirty-minute reload time :D My next stupidity will probably be trying to get some clean scav snipes with a Gornostay + that stupid airsoft 4x scope shooting EKO. Haven't tried the PPSh yet cause I generally suck even more at full-auto than I do at semi.
For a crazy cheap AK with a rail, I use the M1-B gas block/handguard. If you’re fine with or prefer the front rail for red dot sights, it can’t be beat for price.
Yeah that's not a bad one, I'm not a big fan of it so far forward haha
You can't mount foregrips or lasers with it that way, imo just spend the extra 3k rubles or whatever and use the bastion dust cover

Great vid again, glad I'm back this wipe after missing all of last wipe. Do you think at this point it's worth running any armour & helmet aside from just a PACA & a SSh-68 for scavs?
I'm either going bare bones PPSh + PACA and no helmet, or if I take something more kitted like VPO with a scope or 209 suppressed for example with an optic, then using one of the class 4's I've picked up and a Ratnik. SSh helmet is ok ish and might save you sometimes but most of the time I think its not worth it with all the eyes ears jaws headshots going on. I only wear one when the rest of my kit is higher end atm

i 100% believe the kedr is better than the ppsh. Its more controllable out to a farther range.

But kedr, for level 1, can only get 20 round mags, unless you barter round pliers for one 30 round mag.
I was running round with the KEDR late wipe just cutting legs off, so much fun!
Ppsh gets the drum mags though. What I like to do is run PT in them so I can aim with the tracer, and you have a decent ish 18 pen. You can also run akbs which is -15 recoil for better accuracy. If you really have time to kill you can load like 3 akbs for every tracer and you get the best of both worlds. Naked with a fully loaded drum is a super fun cheap kit
I really like the aks74u im starting to really like it and im very close to unlock mechanic lvl 2 so that i can buy a sight mount
Buy the stripped adar from trader then get the parts in raid u will in up with a 30 to 40k gun plus whatever attachments you could find. Keep youre eye out for a scav adar then can swap everything to youre 100% adar

I am honestly shocked there was no adjustment to 5.56. I thought for sure they were gonna have to fix that to get literally anyone to use the G36 for testing
If the PPSH is good right now, trying to get drums for it might be something to consider, since the PPSH literally cannot jam, so maybe starting the raid with 1 drum, and a few standard 35 as backup with one of those green vests with the 4 slot to hold the empty drum when it's done could be a powerful play. Of course if you can't buy they, you will have to rely on finding them, but still, maybe something worth hoarding when you find them on Skavs and such
So they didn't fix 5.56 and they BUFFED 7.62 PS!? Jeez, they do NOT want people using 5.56 guns right now.

What do you mean by "fix 5.56"? Because the issues where it wasn't doing damage at range were fixed last wipe. If youre saying it needs a buff, I suppose that's true, although tbh I always found m855a1 to be a great cheap and plentiful round once you get skier level 4. I don't think 5.56 needs a buff so much as 7.62x39 needs a nerf. Or at least make PS and BP harder to get

Vpo is amazing bastion dust cover ak100 hand guard put on a laser and grip good to go even put a suppressor if you want
Hey Gigabeef, what do you think about the current .366 EKO rounds? They do 73 damage and have 30 penetration, compared to the 7.62x39 PS that has 57 damage, but 35 penetration... Been really trying to weight between the VPO-209 or the VPO-136, but I don't know right now... last tier, the .366 EKO was my go-to for budget quest runs, but with the PS buffs that may have changed. Any recommendations?
Quick answer is I think 136 > 209 UNLESS you want to go suppressed as you can buy that from Skier 1. 136 has much lower recoil
@@Gigabeef Thank you man! Yeah, guess I will use the suppressor on .366, as I am a solo player. The main thing is, even if my shots are suppressed, the enemies' shots won't be, so it can be pointless in regards to people being attracted by the gunfire.
Depends on the range really, on woods it can be useful as you end up spotting even more people coming into third party the first guy haha!

For the shotgun part, I think the rounds are a bit off?
Wiki and stuff all say "6.5mm Express buckshot = 9x35", "5.25mm buckshot = 8x37", "7mm buckshot = 8x39", "8.5mm Magnum buckshot = 8x50"
I think this means they all can one pellet head shot if enemy have no helmet?
I might make a video about this - damage dropoff makes most of them impossible, 7mm and express in particular

FMJ only one taps if they're wearing a PACA, and with EKO you may as well use 762 PS in a VPO as it has much lower recoil. Just my take!

Yeah new rig, I found a new class 6 in a stash too - took me like 6 raids to die haha
It's not exactly "level 1" but naked with a double barrel and ap20 up the butt is super fun. I made a preset called "db longboi" for putting the longest barrels on it, as it doesn't come with them automatically from Jaeger, to get the best accuracy.
On the funnier side, I noticed scavs will carry all 3 variations of the double barrel, so it's really funny when I kill a scav and see his gun say "dB longboi" on it 🤣
I used to play at 66 FOV before this wipe but the new head bobbing BS they added with this recent wipe makes me so motion sick anytime I’m running around now, I had to max out my FOV to 75.
Sucks Nikita does not give two farts about it though, just wants his game to look and feel as horrible as possible compared to how it played before

OP-SKS is great, but most important is to hit the head.
You don't unlock 5.45 PS after checking. It's unlocked after "delivery from the past".

Pull up a chair youngling, let me tell you about a time long ago, sometime around late 2016 to mid 2017. Whispers tell of the legend of the un-nerfed VSS and AS VAL. Back then, this was the only gun you needed if your heart was full of hate and your only goal was to dumpster chads. You didn't care about the loot. You didn't care about the money. You wanted blood and glory, and these two would give it to you hand over fist
What, that thing I started with which was shooting at the stratosphere when I fired more than 3 rounds on full auto? Couldn't even take out a scav.
If you would take Glock, finish first quest for Skier and grab Saiga-9 for similar price you get performance significantly outpacing pimped out Glock with 0 additional investment. As soon as you get access to flea also cheap suppressors. Sole existence of Saiga-9 makes 95% of all pistols available in the game obsolete. It's not about liking it or not - it's objectively a better choice. You kill PMC and you throw it away, it WILL come back with insurance.

Well in this game...when you protect something, someone elses hits you elswhere...my friend went level 4 helmet with level 2 visor, and still got hit in the nape by a PST bullet from full hp and died, and the guys shooting him were standing infront of him. And in another raid, I went out with a slick and a altyn with visor and got killed by a scav in my arm with 7mm buckshot...so...the armor sucks in this game.
They removed 30 rnd mags at lvl1 for the 136? Well that sucks.

You compensate to the right, to a spot on the screen where I - again - see absolutely nothing

If you pay close attention you can see them moving to the right. It basically just looks like a dark mass moving. But also, there is a certain amount of compression that goes with uploading to CZcams so it would be significantly easier to see in-game. If you make sure the video quality is 1080 or better and fullscreen you can 100% see his head as he moves to the right.
When you pause the video, you can use , and . keys to go back/forward frame by frame. At exactly 18:43 there's a tiny gap between grass right next to the red dot, and then something black (blacker than grass) moves through there. Half a second later you can see a silhouette crossing a bit to the right through grass at 18:45. Also, keep in mind that YT compression is a thing, and the image was clearer during gameplay ;)

Ya I try to upload in 4k despite my res being 1080 as YT keeps more of the data. However to get the vid out today I needed to only do 1080 because 4k takes SO long and my upload speed sucks XD But yes the as the other comments suggest, there is a shadow of them moving that made me guess where he went.
