A detailed review of the Pelican Catch Mode 110 from a river catfisherman's perspective. Honest pros and cons from stem to stern. #PelicanCatchMode110 #kayakcatfishing #kayakreview
Insightful explanations. Thanks. BTW, I imagine the skeg/rudder, albeit functional, is impractical to raise from the seat when backing up in shallow water. As a bass angler, I far prefer my Tarpon 100 at 55lbs which tracks well without one. My buddy uses his Pelican Catch 120 for deepwater catfishing and loves it. He rear-mounted a trolling motor.
I have the same Kayak..... paddles and moves about as well as a barge! LOL The skeg does help a lot! But I bought it for fishing and crabbing... and it's fantastic! Tons of space, the open layout is perfect... super comfortable seat and foot pegs.... and SUPER stable! It's the perfect platform. I've had it out on the bay while setting crab traps and even in rougher water I have never felt as if I was going to flip it. On still water it's like fishing from a dock! Rubber chair leg caps on the 4 ends of the seat will completely resolve the problem.... a $2 fix! I'm sure Pelican has been advised of the issue and will add them. Great honest and complete review! Thanks for posting!
Thank you for viewing and commenting. An honest and complete review is what I had intended..you stating EXACTLY that is what I was after. Tight lines man!
Not a bad review. I can see where you'd need that skeg with such a bad hull design. I have a Catch 100 Classic that at least has a more stable dull hull design that runs true. I used a friend of mine's tri-hull F&S kayak and my next purchase will definitely be a tri-hull designed kayak...it's that critical! The seat and transom seems to be the primary reasons for a $200+ upcharge. I do like that you can do a transom-mount trolling motor in the Mode...since you really can't on the Catch. Getting scuppers would be nice since waves do pour water into my Catch. Being I am a taller guy, with back and neck injuries, I am more than ready to upgrade to a trolling motor kayak. The problem is, even though Florida allows some motorization to a kayak, you're almost guaranteed a ticket if it isn't registered. The drawback is less cooler space and way more weight. FeelFree has a lightweight portable battery powered propeller driven model, but you'll pay about 10x to 15x what you paid for the mode. I would love to see a video where you deck out this kayak with all your ideas.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I want to upgrade with a fish finder and GoPro mount before hitting the river for sure. For now the main places I use this kayak is in rocky rivers…honestly couldn’t use pedal or trolling motor anyway. Hope you subscribed!
Finally Pelican came up with a better seating and balanced out the seats model for better fishing and flat rear for the fin can be played with a motor; instead getting a backache and tires trip while fishing. Still upset and not a happy camper 😡
Great review - I'm waitin on my Catch Mode 110 delivery appt now - now if this crummy NY weather would get outta winter mode I'd be happy
I do believe it’s a good choice depending on what you fish for. Will have a video of the mods I’ve done coming soon. Thanks for the view and comment.

The seat height and not being able to raise skeg while seated are my biggest complaints also. Thanks for watching and commenting.
