  • For a guy who's been so in love with his Tesla Model 3 - the legendary RED DRAGON, I was absolutely shocked to find how much I HATED driving my Model 3 all of last week. 7 days of taking it out only when I absolutely HAD to go somewhere. In this short 8 minute video I'll share WHY, and explain the revelation I had that I would never have predicted unless it happened to me.

    This episode was so sincere and from your heart, I enjoyed it so much. Yes I thoroughly agree with your findings, it's amazing how some people can knock things. We tend to take things for granted, as we do with people we love.............

    I experienced this last week. My 2018 M3 autopilot and cruise stopped working. First time this has happened since getting the car new. Tried reboot with scroll wheels, nothing. Pulled over and parked, nothing. After a forum search, one solution was to open all four doors and close them. Turned out to work! Hasn’t happened since thankfully but I total understand where you’re coming from!! I could never go back to a car without these features!

      Opening all four doors fixed your issue? What the heck?! This is the problem with software based vehicles, while I enjoy my Tesla at times it can act as wacked out as my laptop.

    As the brake overrules the accelerator, it should have been "left foot on the brake, put in reverse, right foot ~20% for the juice pedal, release brake slowly."

    Interesting video, great points! I'm SO grateful for Elektra, my Model 3, for all those reasons and MORE...I could never go back to an ICE car. Elektra makes me smile every day...Even when she's just hanging out in the garage or a parking lot! Also, I'm SO grateful for all the awesome additional features she's received and how much smarter she is now than the day I took delivery of her in 2019!! Super excited to unwrap the Christmas software update.....

    I might be missing something, but I find very strange that all of this stuff gets disabled. I understand that Autopilot/FSD and cruise control would be disabled, but what does regen have to do with the thumb wheels? That's oene thing that scares me a bit with Tesla, they can disable any part of your car for arbitrary reasons. Even if I had a Tesla Model 3/Y, which I still do want, I don't think I'd get rid of my Mazda Miata and Can-Am Spyder, I enjoy driving... sometimes.

    What made your Tesla lose all of your features? When will you have that future episode that describes what you did you cause this set of problems? You said you were responsible but at that point I don't understand what you did to bring this set of problems. Or did some Tesla hardware failure cause all these problems at once? What was the failure? What did the service people say? Did you have any part at all in causing this set of problem.

  • @universeisundernoobligatio3283

    So this was a finger problem on your part, had that problem many a time myself.
    Traded in my manual Toyota Echo for my Model 3, want a difference, but I do miss the manual functionally now and then.
    Before we got rid of our Subaru Outback (POS) which was had random electrical problems over 4 years (no one was able to find the intermittent fault) which disabled many features it was a curse to drive I feel for you.

    Hi Peter, We just sold our model 3 long range with FSD the previous month, It was a 2018 aswell we owned for 2 years! We loved the car but Ended up getting what we paid for it plus we got to drive it for 2 years basically free. That and the fact that it was out of warranty tempted us to sell the car. Looking to transition into a new model Y with a full warranty again now. Would you be keeping red dragon for the upcoming time or maybe getting into something newer as car prices are still pretty high currently?

    • @model3man
      @model3man  Před rokem +1

      Sadly, the realities of being on the edge of retirement mean that the beautiful "Dragon Lady" is not... how shall we say... tempted by the proposition of spending MORE money on cars :). So, I think we are going to be keeping Red Dragon for many more years. Although - I do still have a 39% discount on a Roadster (from the early days of sharing codes with new Tesla buyers - so perhaps I could transfer that discount to a new Y?? Have to check into that

    • @e117f
      @e117f Před rokem

      That’s totally understandable, We loved our 3 and honestly I do have a bit of sellers remorse currently but that could be because we haven’t found a replacement for our Y yet. Im thinking of buying a slightly used model Y with FSD for the tax savings as I found out In BC you don’t have to pay pst or on a EV with more than 6000km, you can even save the gst if it’s a private sale. I have found a couple 2022 models with FSD for the 95k Range including tax. Do you think that’s the better move or going with a new one which ends up being the same but its missing FSD? Our old model 3 had FSD so I’m not sure how much I’m going to miss it.
