    rape really is a crime on a different emotional level. she could easily talk about physical abuse and emotional abuse, but the thought of rape made her break down. it really... it really puts it into perspective.
    she's strong and wise and beautiful.

    She is EXTREMELY self aware and UNBELIEVABLY brave. If someone tries to control you to that extent, physically and sexually assaults you and then convinces you that you're the problem it justvsolidifies the fear that truly paralyzes that person. He wants you to remain as paralyzed as he is. He wants to keep you stagnant.

    This is beautiful. I would look at her walking down the street and assume she would have the perfect life. she's beautiful what issues would she have about insecurities and self worthlessness? How could she understand the common defeat black girls would have about beauty? Instead I saw this woman in her rawness and felt empathy and compassion for her story and respect for her telling it!

    • @KiDn0cuDi
      @KiDn0cuDi Před 9 lety +14

      Kristian Jackson It's this rawness that we only feel comfortable sharing when it's not direct. She's speaking to us through a video. She's strong, but none us would share this much casually drinking a coffee or eating pie. Acknowledging this, considering (SONDER) is what we all need to survive. There are so many elements that make this hard, but if just realize the person next to us is not a toy. If we take the time to consider, this pain stops. One person at a time, then five, and then ten, and then someone who matters to us all. Touch the heart of a public figure and the flame becomes untameable.
      Sonder
      n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own-populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness-an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.

That in these hurts and failures I can learn to function again, find what success means to me, and then become it. I don't know how and I don't know when, but I'm trying. I'm trying so damn hard.
