  • This is part 1 of a 2-part video. In this video I unbox and set up the Rikon 13" Benchtop Helical Style Thickness Planer, Model 25-130H. This is something that I have wanted for YEARS and finally pulled the trigger after Woodcraft was running on 15% off promotion. I am so excited to start using this beast. Stay tuned for part 2 where I review this planer after using it for a month or so. If you're in the market for this planer, I hope you get something out of this video.

Nice planer, you are definitely going to love it. I have the dewalt, and man, I cant remember how I did woodworking before owning a planer?

Do you know if the cutterhead inserts are the same size as the carbide inserts used on the Shelix cutterhead? I see that these are HSS instead of carbide and it would be great if they could be upgraded.

You know that’s a really good question. As long as all of them were replaced at the same time I don’t see why it would be a problem. When it comes time for me to replace the inserts I may do that. If I do I’ll respond back here with the results!

I never say this, but this is one tool I don’t think you can do serious woodwork without.
I mean you can, just not efficiently.

      @@RLLWoodworks That's the plan, man!
I really dig that this has the helical heads out of the box. I'm definitely considering a Shelix setup for my 735x.

agood idea by Roland Woodwork to buy his own plane maker. much safer to fly private during COBID19
