No… What’s with the thin trim on the floor…?!? You don’t continue down the steps… The floor should go wall to wall, then add a baseboard. If the owners are too cheap, they should “fix it” themselves.

Why not just rip the skirting board down to the width of the horizontal cut already there on the stair stringer ? .. that would surely do away with the need for the extra small cutting of trim to bring up the height ? Unless all your other skirtings are that width ? …. Still ended up nice anyways , good job , just curious !
