Geez, Bret, you absolutely nailed it! You tell such a complete story-safety, warmth, wearing summer gloves/feel, dry. We appreciate Mototrek! Thanks so much for promoting the #warmhandsrevolution!
I've had mine for a few years and love them! Indispensable in cold weather.
@hippohands where can I get em in Germany?
I bought the mid-size Hippos for my KTM 1090R because I stand a lot. Super easy to install or remove and store. They work great and the construction is solid.
I got my midsize Hippos for my 690 a few weeks ago, and you are spot on. Riding for hours in the rain, heated grips on the lowest setting and non gore text summer gloves.
Warm, dry and comfy 👍
Love them !
Yeah baby!!! We're stoked that you love them! Summer gloves all year long! Thanks for the comment!
How long did it take for them to send them out? I ordered a pair a week ago, they won't answer my question either.
Don't worry about how they look, princess... these things are MAGIC in really cold weather. Add a pinlock visor (PURE GOLD) and some good weatherproof gear and you can ride comfortably in pretty much anything.
Pinlock visor is the best thing to happen to gear since gear.
Thanks Peter! We always appreciate a good word!
Apologies for the re-upload! Thanks for watching!
THANK YOU for re-uploading this. I've been looking for an alternative to bulky gloves during the winter months and suddenly this appeared on my dash. They will be a life saver.
That's a cool story about how #HippoHands became a thing. And how easy they are to take on and off your bike. You can even store it as a hat!
Glad to hear it! You’ve got a great channel!
I remember riding my RD350 with pipes from Yorba Linda, CA to Santa Maria, CA on cold nights in an insulated Airman's suite with the best gloves I could find at the time (late 70's), my hands absolutely freezing, fingers barely able to move... A rider passed me just outside LA and I pulled in on his 5 and kept pace for an hour or so after which he pulled over to fuel up and I did too. We chatted amiably for a bit and I noticed strange looking hand coverings affixed to his bars. I asked him about them and he told me they were "HippoHands" and that they had changed his riding option forever... He went on to tell me that he never rode at night before, certainly not in the cold or wet and yet now he did all of these with comfort. Of course, his riding suit was much better than mine and I was on a speedy Yamaha RD350 with a small windshield I had made mounted over the light which helped a little in keeping the wind/body drag down (very little). I never will forget the confidence to ride untoward weather this rider exuded by his very stance, partly due to great hand coverings! ...after 14 speeding tickets that year on that fun but blasted, power band crazy ride, I sold the bike and got something a bit easier, most dual sport oriented - a Honda XL250 which I promptly had bored out to 675, installed a Yoshimura Big Bore Kit and Cam, modded the suspension more to my liking with a bit more travel and off I went in what was the beginning of my love for ADV riding... I never forgot the HippoHands though in all these years but also never searched for them so am very surprised to see a review on them! I've been running the Moose lite off-road oriented versions but I think I'd like to upgrade to the HippoHands after watching this... Thanks for sharing!
I've been shopping for good waterproof winter gloves and thought nothing of spending this much on good gloves. I already have really good summer gloves and never thought about combining them with my heated grips and these hand covers to mitigate the need for pricey winter gloves that wouldn't do as good of a job. Great point, thanks for another great video. You're becoming one of my favorite subscriptions.
Excellent! Thanks, Kevin.
Hi Kevin, we strongly recommend you looking into Hippo Hands! As Bret/Mototrek say, these things kick ass! And summer gloves are better to ride with, but you know that! More feel, more safety and warm hands! Let us know if you have any questions, we're happy to help!
I was not having an idea of hippo hand was exist thanks for your video which gave me a info
Funny stuff! Back in the mid 1960 A buddy of mine...well his dad had a Honda 250? the "dream" Honda? Well he too had these sort of things on his new Honda! I thought they looked so goofy and thought, "that looks so dumb"! But I was about 12 years old and what did I know!
Great review, and great product! These things are life savers...Seriously can't believe I rode for so long without them. I wear my thin dirt bike gloves year round now and I love that.
We love that too Flat 5 Flim Flam. Keep stoked! #warmhandsrevolution
I just about did not buy these because they were too expensive.
Last week I returned from a 4300 miles LA to Florida via the passes in tahoe, nevada, utah, and colorado.
Frankly, I would not have been able to take this route without these hippo hands.
I bought the mid size and I have handlebar warmers (tenere 700) with heavier gloves.
It would be nice if they would fold down smaller when the weather allows, but they are a must have.
The large size may be warmer, but the mid size make it easier for you to get in and out of the opening.
Don't hesitate, if it is cold you will thank me.
I have the Oxford Rain Seal and they are fantastic. I did look at the Hippo's, but they were more expensive.
We are not in the 60-70's anymore so I ride in the winter for years wearing (brace yourselves!) quality winter gloves...
I've been using ATV Mitts on my bikes for years...But those Hippo Hands look sweet...
I have Hand covers on my tiny 50cc bike, but Even with those I cannot ride bellow 6°C because my hands are very cold (like always) so, I'd still need heated gloves to be able to ride in winter.
Great video - I can't the manufacturer to answer my questions so I'll ask it here. I have smaller hand guards they are the Acerbis Rally Pro, I wanted to know if they will work with the hippo hands or get the standard size hand guards? I ordered the Rouge mid size. Any suggestions would help.
Oly, Washington is getting a little colder in the :am so I have some time. Thank you for your videos.
Hey thanks so much, this is great.
I am curious as a new rider. I don't have hand guards and curious if you were choosing between the hand guards and hippo hands which would you choose? And also I guess maybe it's a silly question and both obviously. I have most of my gear setup, but the hands are an issue!
You have the best percussion in your videos bro.
I live in Montreal, I went has north as Chisasibi (see that on the map) even with heat grip on my strom 1000, i would have love to have does!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Danish post office and the Danish military such gloves for their Nimbus motorcycles in the 1950s for winter driving lined with lambskin and a thick leather exterior ...
Would they work on a 2018 Yamaha Eluder road bike??
More things to buy....neverending. lol :)
I have a 350 KTM EXC and a 1200 GS....will both sizes work on both motorcycles or do I need to buy the larger for the GS and the smaller for the KTM?
I have Raynards syndrome, I ride a triumph tiger 955i, when I ride no matter the weather even in the summertime I wear my winter gloves and I have my heated Oxford grips on high setting and now looking for bar grips so I’m doing lots of research
Please do a video about riding in sand. Oh, and more drums, definitely more drums.
Great info thanks. By the way were you in the movie Trainspotting?
You're welcome. Nope.
Bret! Many thanks for all your vids. This one, though? What an understated product -- okay, Hippos are ordered. But please tell me how to defend against all the fog and even rain against the windshield?
Mc Donalds I’m a big rainx fan but you can also use your bike wax on the shield to repel rain and bugs
Great! I will give this a go. Thank you for your response and, indeed, thank you for the vids!
They had them in Korea back in the late 1968
Been looking for these, forgot what they were called. Just ordered mine!
Hey there John Hammar your Alcans shipped yesterday! Enjoy the warm hands and follow us on Instagram @teamhippohands Thanks for joining the #warmhandsrevolution!
How are they on a bike without heated grips?
They're an improvement with or without heated grips, Laird.
Thanks for the quick reply. 👍🏻
Going to buy a some.
Hey might be a mad idea but how about those guys making Hippo Feet? Use the warm air off the engine to keep your feet warm and dry?
I wish they made these for baggers.
"winter rain" lol
In Washington we get rain all year long... winter rain means "cold" rain
What jacket is he wearing?
Yuebu He Aerostitch Roadcrafter
Bret Tkacs thanks~ Love your videos!
Add. To. Cart. How I hate winter gloves.
Any possibility of doing a segment on how to remove a battery from a 2012 (or another year if similar) r1200gs? I can’t get mine out!
Reupload?
Yeah - Didn't like the opening. This version is better. :)
I at you’re not going to become another website paid to promote products.
Should read, I hope that you’re...
No worries, Doug. No one has paid us anything (besides Google Ads) and the value of the free HippoHands we got hardly justifies the time and effort put into producing this video. When we review products you can be sure we'll say exactly what we feel without sugar-coating anything.
Where can I buy these?thanks
www.hippohands.com/
Bret Tkacs thanks
Hey Derrick, let us know if you have any questions about fit for your bike or the way your ride. We're happy to help!
Hippo Hands will do it's a 2013 Yamaha super tenere
Derrick Murphy I have the middle sized ones on my tenere and love them.
Free shipping would seal the deal........
Well, well, well, @50nicklee guess what we just started!?!? Free domestic shipping and fixed price international shipping of $14.95! Deal sealed!!!
Hippo Hands I’m on it. Thanks.
Nice review, however these things are a bit overpriced in my opinion. I am going to see if I can get my wife to sew me a set.
I figured they cost less than winter gloves. There are other products that are similar and the cost less and few that cost more. I really do like these best...
Made in America!
Hippo Hands, I own a 2016, 1290 Super Adventure. I will recommend your product everywhere that counts if you allow me to test fit it...
Made in America doesn't mean js unless it is a bargain and better quality than sourced elsewhere.
over my dead body xD
Sadly they don't sell Hippo Hands in the UK. :( This model looks perfect!!! Can keep my hand guards, instalation in seconds AND can use the indicators and horn. Just perfect. 🥲
