This is how you do business. Tapping into a mental deprivation that most humans have that isn't talked about or explored just to please other people is beautiful. This is something I would look into because my grandmother is closer to passing everyday and she used to scratch my back every night as a kid to put me to sleep and I don't think I'd ever be able to be happy without that feeling again once in awhile.

I remember my mom doing this for me as a kid. Literally the best experience ever. It’s the perfect idea for a business, and if I had a place in my area that did it I’d be there.
I grew up with my parents doing that for me and it’s so comforting, especially around the face, 💕 And literally now I do it to my SO without even realizing I’m doing it, and I do it to my little siblings to help them sleep, it’s one of my love languages at this point 😭

We are so incredibly deprived of touch. That's why ASMR is getting so popular. We need that touch to connect with each other. As kids, even as teenagers, we do this all the time, but the moment we hit adulthood , it's like we forgot about the simplest needs. It's sad.

I’ve been listening to it for years and it’s always helped me relax.
I remember having my back scratched and hair braided when I was a kid so whenever I’m with my boyfriend I give him scratches instead of massages and he had never thought of it. He prefers those over massages and it makes me feel happy.
I think it's largely because touch becomes more associated with romance and sexuality when we become older. I've seen a decent person lose their job simply because they touched somebody on the back, trying to get past them, at a previous place of employment. It was considered sexual harassment.
I agree about ASMR but even that has found a way to become sexualized.

I remember being a kid and my dad would go away on fishing trips and my mom would let me sleep with her in their big bed and she'd scratch my back to get me to fall asleep. When I was too pumped up before bed she'd draw numbers and letters and words on my back to calm me down. When I got surgeries she'd do that when I was in pain, when I was sick, when I was up at 2 in the morning and couldn't breathe. It was such a calming, comforting feeling. I miss that.

@@jz00826 It's untransferrable/uncommunicable so not at all, it's a chronic skin condition so that means it's usually from birth and probably has something to do with your either one or both of parent's history with it or smth. Personally, my parents had no history of it, except for my father having asthma, so maybe that translated into me having skin asthma/eczema. Just a common skin condition that's most likely hereditary

yeah the body response is basically the opposite of sexual. we used to do this in dance class all the time since the leotards had super low cut backs and we would wait in long lines to go across the floor.
I wouldn't go as far as saying it's sexual, but for some people it's definitely uncomfortable, I could never feel good with this level of touch unless it was my partner. So hence the link with sexuality, to some people.
