Just a heads up but when you were talking about lobe separation you were looking at lobes for 2 different cylinders instead of lobe separation for the same cylinder. In this engine, for example, the 1st lobe and the 3rd lobe go to cylinder number one and the 2nd lobe and the 4th lobe go to the next cylinder, on so on. No 2 lobes side by side will go to the same cylinder on an in block cam V engine. 15:34

But newer style GM V8s aren’t so hot as they used to be, personally I think this 7.3 is a better engine overall than any modern GM V8 , especially because you don’t gotta deal with that direct injection crap either.

But i will say this fords technology and willingness to build another OHV makes me smile and with the power numbers these new engines put out the old engines are outclassed by smaller displacement more efficiently designed engines. The coyote is a special kind of engine. I smile every time i wrap the tach to 7500rpm. I own a 16 Gt with a few mods and 6 speed and I love the power of the coyote it may not have the tq of other engines but that coyote has legs for days and in most races i it chases down the adversary...but I will say this I am saving up for a 7.3 I wanna put it in a older ride mid 60s-73 car or truck or maybe a crown vic.....maybe I should buy a nova or a 55 chevy and put the 7.3 in it and start a Ford Godzilla in everything like they do with those junk ls engines...maybe guys will start putting Ford engines back in Ford Vehicles...

Just some general rambling on my part here...
I can imagine how strong this would be with appropriately flowing intake, throttle body, cam, heads, headers and exhaust, coupled with a supercharger. With the cam specced with the supercharger in mind, I can imagine LOTS of power out of this thing. The key, I'm thinking, is making sure the intake is sized appropriately to provide the supercharger enough air, and the exhaust is appropriately sized to ensure little to no backpressure. However, oversizing some of these components could lead to loss of torque (like if the headers have too large a primary diameter, lower velocity will reduce the cylinder scavenging effect, and so forth).
It's good to see someone working on development for the internals for this engine; it'll be interesting to see what cam/head combos become available.

Sounds just right for a daily. Glad Ford went back to this engine design. My only concerns is the problematic vct and the chain drive oil pump set up.

@@sorryimajerk735 i up graded my oil pump drive rods in all mine to arp just for the added peice of mind. I trust that way more than any belt trying to live in a patroilium based lubricanted hot engine. . They could have stuck with the crank driven oil pump and not created another potential big issue down the rd. But that just me looking at since I do all my own maintenance.

    Question on the 7.3L Godzilla.
My truck is in the Ford shop after a problem with starting and cam shaft codes plus a few more codes.
They say that the Camshaft Phaser is bad. The Camshaft positioning module was replaced and didn't resolve the issue.
Can you point out in your great video where that phaser is located?
    Thank you
    Happy New Year
