I think that Ford surprised a lot of people, (including me), when it started producing this big displacement pushrod engine. They're absolutely doing the right thing by making it available to everybody in crate form; giving factory input toward the performance potential and letting the aftermarket have at it toward making big horsepower in whatever platform they wish. Being someone who bleeds Ford blue, this was the best news I've heard out of Ford in quite a while and I can't wait to see what the aftermarket, (i.e. aluminum blocks, big port heads, stout internals and forced induction add-ons), is going to offer for the Godzilla, (a great name). Sometimes going the route of the tried and true, simple engine designs and away from the complexity of overhead camshafts is a damned good idea for both fleet and competition purposes. Will Godzilla see endurance racing, both off-road and on, along with the expected drag racing scene? It'll be interesting to see.

Sohc and dohc v8s are so volumetric efficient . Makes use of every bit of atmosphere and timing to get the best results. I feel like those days are over now. EV is taking over. @christianmeeks4430 Před 3 lety +1

@@Donniec685 You might want to look into what actually goes into a tune. Increasing the AFR (going above 14.7:1) is going to lead to detonation, extremely hot combustion, and engine failure in an engine not specifically designed to lean burn gasoline like the Mazda Skyactiv-X. If you go the other way and decrease the AFR (go below 14.7:1) you get into a rich burn condition that reduces economy, creates excessive carbon emissions, can cause early catalytic converter failure if not corrected, cause carbon buildup, reduce power, and reduce fuel economy. In extreme rich burn cases you can wash the cylinder walls with fuel leading to cylinder wall scoring, oil dilution, and engine failure.

I know he was shooting for 17 1800 horsepower but 1,400 is nothing to to feel bad about. That's still very impressive especially considering you're running a factory crank and Factory ignition system. I would love to stick that engine down in something fun I'm thinking something like a 63 through 68 Galaxy or Fairlane when a 6-speed manual transmission 373 rear end 4-wheel disc brakes Crown Victoria front end with the power assist steering what a great hot rod that would make
