  • In this video I attempted to vlog another aerial install and what's involved but I must apologize as this time I rather missed out some of the vital parts of interest. A bit rusty and forgot to record some bits. Never the less it may be of some enjoyment to you. I appreciate your reading this and watching the video anyway.

Didn't realise 2 aerials was a thing over in England, very common occurance over here in NI with us being able to recieve ni/uk tv and rte from ROI.

Fascinating to see two aerials. Some people around my area still have two. I think the reason it was done is because ITV used to be regional. By having two aeriels viewers could have access to more than one region which of course gave more channels. It was very useful in the days before Sky.

Yep that was it. Just another “nationwide” company had already been there, twice, and not once even stepped out the back to see the aerial. Just chucked a new PSU and amp on
I appreciate you watching and commenting mate. It wasn’t one of my best vids but thought I’d publish it anyway. Cheers

A lot have two aerials up, prior to DSO, here in Wrexham. Mainly because the local relay didn’t have analogue channel 4, instead it had S4C. Plus Winter hill carried Channel 5 too. So a lot had one aerial for the correct BBC and ITV Wales news and another pointing north for C4 and C5. Even some areas are on the midlands (usually the Wrekin or Sutton Coldfield). However, most people have since had newer aerials fitted, after the DSO and the local relay carries C4 and C5 (plus a few more) but still people use the Winter Hill, The Wrekin or Sutton Coldfield for the other 3 muxes that carry Dave, Quest etc. that aren’t on the local relay.

Regarding the future of the channel, I'm very happy with what you have suggested, but would still love to see more installations where possible please.
I would like to know you cut cables from satellite dishes. I've got a satellite dish with more than one cable coming from it, but I only need the one. So that kind of video would be useful.

Would you be happy with more content but a little more rushed or less in depth? As I’m happy to document more stuff if people appreciate I can’t go into great detail when I’ve got a sh@t load to get through.
When you say cut cables from sat dish? Sorry I don’t follow…?

@@aardvarkinstalls I'd be happy with whatever works best for you. Obviously as long as it's aerial and satellite related then that's cool for me.
Regarding the satellite cable, bassically I have old dish with loads of cables coming from the lnb. I no longer need all these cables and would like to cut two off so that it looks more tidy. I'm no expert and don't want to damage anything-so a video about how you safely remove cables from a lnb would actually be of use to me personally.
I appreciate everything you do on this channel. It's always a fascinating watch.

Good shout, any particular tools? I am thinking about keeping a video diary of general day to day events so not just showing the work I do but where I go in the van, bits I buy, quotes, etc. means I’ll get a lot more videos out there as I’m struggling to find content that’s new. Most of my work is the same stuff each day so I don’t want to put up videos of me doing the same thing all the time.

@@aardvarkinstalls for me if you look at other CZcams creators they normally have a list of tools and gear they use for different projects I was impressed with the cable stripper and the type of Ariel and the signal amplifier you use for starters hope this helps keep the good work up Video diary is a good shout it’s funny I found you by chance 😎

Nice one again. Especially enjoy the more fringe installs. How could an aerial rigger not sort out that mess on two visits? Lazy, or just scared of heights?! Judging by C42 showing on your meter, you put that back on Sutton Coldfield? What was the other aerial looking at before? Presumably something with a different region from the days when it was worth having a choice of ITV.

    • @aardvarkinstalls

Yea Ridge Hill but bit pointless as signal is awful at that spot.

@@aardvarkinstallstalk of Ridge Hill takes me back to my days installing aerials and all was well till 1989 when Central split the news region and my phone was constantly ringing from people now getting South news instead of their local West Midlands news, I lost a lot of hair trying to sort the transmission mess out!
