Ram Pickup Truck Gets Pit From Hell

- 0n 04/16/2024 at approximately 1448 hours, Troop A Dispatch advised North Little Rock Police was in pursuit of a red Dodge Ram 1500 Northbound on US 67/167. NLRPD advised the reason for pursuit was for Theft of Property charges. I, Trp. M.Leddon, waited for the pursuit at 67/167 NB before the Redmond Road Exit.Upon the pursuit approaching my location, I activated my emergency equipment and took over the primary unit for the pursuit. I notified dispatch that I was primary. I quickly noted that there was a break in traffic and began to align for a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). I positioned the front passenger area of my unit at the rear driver side area of the suspects vehicle. I made contact with the suspect vehicle causing it to rotate to the left 360 degrees. The vehicle was able to drive out of the TVI, and continued northbound on 67/167. The vehicle then became stuck in traffic near the Gregory Street Exit. The vehicle abruptly braked and then struck a citizens vehicle. I attempted to pin the vehicle to prevent flight, but the suspect continued driving. The pursuit continued northbound. I found another opening in traffic and began positioning for another TVI by positioning the front passenger area of my unit at the rear driver side of the suspect vehicle. The suspect started merging left attempting to block my TVI. I struck the rear of the suspect vehicle causing the vehicle to rotate left 90 degrees. The suspect vehicle then struck the left wall. The suspect vehicle rode on top of the wall for a short distance and then rotated left another 90 degrees before landing back on the roadway facing south. The vehicle then struck the wall on the right. I struck the vehicle to pin the vehicle. I exited my patrol unit and drew my department issued firearm. I gave the suspect commands to show his hands. I then instructed the suspect to exit the vehicle. The suspect stated he couldn’t. I then advised the suspect to climb out of the window. The suspect was making no attempts to exit the vehicle. I then grabbed an arm, while a NLRPD officer grabbed another we pulled the suspect from the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody. While checking the scene, I located a small baggie containing a white crystalline substance in the area of the TVI. I provided this evidence to a NLRPD officer who stated it was similar to the baggie located in his pocket. I then checked my patrol unit and located minor tire scuff on my front passenger side fender. I did not see any other visible damage. The Power Steering Warning light was on in my unit and my alignment was slightly off to the right. Trooper A. Garrison arrived on scene and worked the crash with the citizens vehicle. The driver was transported to the hospital with head, neck and back pain. NLRPD provided me with report number 24-29339 for their report. No other ASP property sustained damage and no ASP Personnel were injured during this event.

I watched just the pit 4/5 times for different details. Officer is calm and cool. Truck is still bouncing around. TVI he has heavy damage

North Little Rock was already in pursuit. The ASP joined in to do the PIT/TVI.
ASP joined an already active pursuit in this video and traffic conditions allowed it. That second TVI and the way the arrest was handled was personal though. ASP really cares about protecting the public from these idiots.
ASP don't play. I grew up in Memphis, and everybody knew not to cross that Mississippi bridge and mess around in Arkansas. FA there and you really FO.

While I understand that there is a time and place to enforce ones rights, but it's funny how far you can get by being normal nice people lol.

@tammyhodges. Seems fair. Since the guy wasn't wearing a seatbelt, banged his head and was tossed around I imagine everything will hurt. Other than the drugs they found he must have more reasons to be so stupid. Either way I hope he spends at least 10yrs in prison. He is a menace to society. Finally a cop that doesn't hesitate and knows how to drive and knows to block the vehicle after the PIT. I feel like in the last 5+ years of binge watching police chase videos this is one of the most effective and appropriately tactical PITs I've ever seen.

I'm a Texan, and here, we say " don't mess with Texas ", which is true....but we all should say " hell no - DO NOT mess with Arkansas Troopers! ". After watching tons of timid California high speed chases that last hours with 12 patrol cars and 3 helicopters burning taxpayer's gasoline while endangering countless lives...It is refreshing to see Arkansas police are trained ( and authorized) to end these chases quickly.

Some people appear to be real desperate to trash their vehicles. When in Arkansas, Georgia, or Florida, it is highly advised that you voluntarily pull over when a cop is behind you. Otherwise you'll find your vehicle in a ditch and yourself facedown in the dirt with your hands behind your back.

As someone who lives in California, I am experiencing a lot of envy seeing practically no traffic on the highway in the daytime. That being said, this guy could have killed himself or someone else and he totaled his very nice truck. Not to mention the hit and run. All for no reason other than stupidity.

A recurring theme I’ve noticed in these highly entertaining videos is that the roads are in horrible condition. I used to live in Little Rock in the ‘70’s and’80’s and they were in terrible shape then. It looks like nothing has changed.
