    I basically only came here to see if i had to take the Inteke manifold apart before i could get the rocker cover off or not. Really informative video, thanks.
    Fun fact: D5 inejctors will ABSOLUTELY get stuck if you let them. I have a rocker-cover leak and it started pushing oil up the injector hole, by the time i had enough free time to pull it all apart (today) to replace it, it had already started crustying up the oil that had pooled up around it. Im still fighting with that 1 injector 😂😂

      Thanks for the comment and I hope the video did help. I have since this video had a D5 where the injectors were completely stuck in so I apologise for the comments in the video 👍

      I haven't got a choice if I want to keep it running. Still need to get round to swapping the gearbox for a 6 speed and doing all of the oil seals. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Good video, nice and clear. Thank you👍. My old D5 used to carry on running without the key in the ignition. I’d switch it off by pulling off the fuel pump electric connector.

    Can you get to the air intake sensor from the top as you did here ! and can you confirm it is placed to the bottom right-hand side as you look at the engine ? these have a habit of clogging up as well ! Thanks

    I am grateful for your low key instructional videos. Relatively new owner of a 2003 XC70 2.4 D5 (175,000 miles )and finding my feet with using my spanners on it. I have noticed that whenever I use full throttle to accelerate when pulling away from standing still or when overtaking I leave behind a substantial black cloud. Is this a problem with the injectors ? I assume I can lift the injectors without removing the Intake/Cam cover as the engine appears to be dry and without leaks. I am unsure if my engine has these flapper valves I see caked up with "black chocolate" on some videos...?

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  Před rokem

      If your rocker cover is plastic then you have the later engine to this video and will have swirl flaps. Black smoke is common when flooring it, even this well maintained car will put some out under hard acceleration but as you say it could still be injector related. I have changed injectors for other second hand ones but never forked out for new ones due to the price so I don’t know whether that would fix it. My mpg is back to where it was after ditching my square 19s for some 18” BBS Nebulas so I’ve no reason to suspect any issues anymore or to try improve mpg.

    Hello nice video. Well done! I have to do the same job on my D5 Xc70 2005. I heard that once u removed an injection u have to replace the spanner as well. To be sure its got the right frorce presst down on the seat. Did u replaced them? Or have u ever replaced them on an d5. Thanks for those videos, keep on doing!

      Thank you 🙏 do you mean the high pressure pipes should be replaced? I don’t have a torque figure for anything but yes it’s suggested that those pipes be replaced. I never have though.

    Just purchased a V70 D5 Euro 3 and on the drive home my dad noticed a lot of black smoke coming from the exhaust on fast acceleration. I'm not a mechanic but I've looked online and people suggest an air leak from the turbo or a bad injector. Do you have any idea what it could be? thank you!

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  Před 11 měsíci

      Boost pipe is probably a good shout. I’ve had my boost pipe blow off before and the car billowed black smoke.

    Interesting Tolly. Question If I may buddy. Does it not mater which injector goes where when rebuilding? I always thought that each injector went back to the same cylinder it came from. I could be wrong......it's been known before 😉🤣

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  Před 2 lety

      It's funny my friend asked me the same while I was doing it, I think because usually I number them. It depends on the reason you're removing them. If you were having issues with fuelling or smoking etc I would usually number them and put them back in the same place. Because the car is running perfect I didn't bother on this occasion as I was just fixing the oil leak. I probably should've put it in the video so sorry about that.

      Yeah I think it matters.
      Mighty idle a bit funny for some time if you mix them because there are correction values stored in the ECU and tze the injectors are coded to the ECU.
      If you mix them up I'd use Vida to reset everything to be sure.

    • @fitomunozserrano9500
      @fitomunozserrano9500 Před 6 dny

      Good job with the video man but I swear you U should keep an eye on it, cause any injector is unique, so it has a number U got to tell the ecu to get them calibrated properly, U had very good luck with that, so don't get used and put the number on it @@IAMASPANNER

    Do you need to bleed the injectors? I have heard that that if they get empty from fuel they need to be bleed
    Edit : i saw he said no bleeding needed

    Doesnt even look that bad in there.
    All passages are clear and its just a layer of soft greasy stuff no solid carbon.
    The lower intake piping and throttle valve just behind the EGR inlet will Look much worse.

    • @IAMASPANNER
      @IAMASPANNER  Před rokem

      It had been done recently, my reason for removal was the rocker gasket leak so it was convenient to do the intake at the same time.
