I think I prefer the rear camera view. We get to see the approaching terrain and more landscape instead of asphalt. I'm not sure what options the Skydio 2 has, but a constant wider view would look more epic too
The Piuma drone angle is much more fun to watch for those who have previously ridden it. Makes it really fun to see the climb at 17-20 mph instead of 11-14 mph. Looking forward to a Drake Yerba video. Strava name The Old Clydesdale
Thanks for putting so much time and effort into this content. It's amazing to see your high-level riding, especially for other LA natives who know the rides and segments that you do. Great vids man!!!
Another awesome video and great effort!! Some crazy numbers for sure and can’t wait to see what happened when you make it to Palomar. Maybe hit Torrey Pines also while you are down here. A quick 4 min effort might not be your forte but a great climb.
Yo! Found your channel like 2 weeks ago and it's quickly become one of the most enjoyable cycling channels to follow! Really enjoy the commentary and breakdown of the ride / strava segments (also following you on strava now haha!) But yeah I would have to say I prefer the camera angle from Piuma, or at least an angle where you can see more of what's on the road ahead of you. That being said, all the shots thus have been super dope. Keep up the good work!!
Kewl. Good job! The drone is skirting the hillside which is a cool angle as well as seeing the drone’s shadow here and there. Get a good angle of your positioning. I’m glad the drone found you again. But that was a nice view of the cliff. 😂🤙🏽
I have noticed that whe speed in MPH and the gradient percentage total over 20 that is GREAT and what separates PRO level performance from mere mortals.
Pretty good work you do , i have a question, you said you train your own program, from where do you get your training plans or any book you are reading 📖? Thank you on advance
There are some great cycling training podcasts out there. Fast Talk is one of my favorites. I don’t follow an exact training plan. I try to listen to my body
Riding in the Santa Monicas I'd generally use Encinal as a quick descent to the coast. Much prefer the more dynamic Decker and Deer Creek ascents. Deer Creek... are you going to have a crack at that? Also, good luck on Palomar! 5.8+W/kg?
Maaaan you're holding like my 3 minute power for 17. Very envious of your fitness level. And I get to race against you this year as a SoCal cat 2! Quick question for you - I know you come from a rowing background, and all the rowers I've met that moved over to cycling seem to have great aerobic engines. Do you think it's worthwhile to add rowing in as cross-training for a cyclist, or do you think it's better to do all endurance work on the bike if cycling performance is the goal?
If cycling performance is the goal, you’ll get the most bang for your buck doing cycling training specifically. Rowing develops your aerobic base but so does any other endurance sport, so I don’t think there’s a benefit specifically for rowing. Cross training is great though, especially in the off season.

Yeah, I think that I’ll stick to the rear view for any more videos :)
I have to say I agree!
I agree with this also!
Agreed as well....

messing with the drone control still pumping out 400 watts plus while doing it. LOL
400w is my zone 9 in a three zone model.
awesome videos and commentary. keep them coming!
Fantastic effort Drake! And a very nice video as usual. Unreal...👍🏻🔥
I liked the variety of camera angles from the drone. These things really make for good footage. Great channel.

Awesome power and footage!
What you describe as drone 'errors' actually improve the footage variety and help give your video a sense of place, etc....Nice shots👌
Yeah looks way better at the front!! Congratulations 🎊 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 very professional as you!!
Another great video Drake! Should set up the buttons on your hoods to cycle through the pages on your headunit. A tiny bit safer that way.
Thanks :) my Di2 doesn’t have the Bluetooth module built in, so I can’t communicate with my Garmin through the shifters unfortunately.
Pro Nationals! That's awesome and I can't wait to see how you fare.
Nice watching you strive. Talking about the drone..., isnt it great what these system are capable of nowadays ? N´joy :-)
Your videos are awesome! I was wondering if you were still rowing? If so, how do you maintain a balance of your upper body muscle mass?
I’m no longer rowing. I’m looking to shed as much upper body mass as possible, no need for that where we’re going.
Can you program it to cycle through various angles? That would be cool. Also, idk how but you make it look way too easy 👌🏼
Drake....try to get to Knoxville early...very, very HOT and HUMID in Tennessee compared to Cali.
The battery on that drone has lasted a loooong time...
Would be cool to see a video for how you prepare for the 6,000 kj rides, like bike and nutrition set up
I like this angle
great cadence and pacing also dude be careful man that road does look dangerous! wait 55 psi how much you weigh?
Awesome job, awesome view. Just wondering what brand and model of drone your are running?
Skydio 2

@@DrakeDeuel ok thank you man 👍
Hi Drake, what gears ⚙️ do you run on your hill efforts? Thanks
52/36 front and 11-30 in the back. It’s Shimano Di2
No drones were harmed in the making of this video

I’ve never ridden up Decker or Deer Creek for some reason. I’ll probably do them at some point though.

this man hired superman to record for him damn
Awesome footage, Quick q:
What drone/app are you using to have it follow you?
Interested in similar ideas.
Thanks in advance!
The drone is the Skydio 2. www.skydio.com/skydio-2
I just tried holding 400 watts on my peloton. Actually wasn’t that hard...for 15 seconds
We'll done good effort really deserve the kom
I thought the title was ethical KOM at first.
As far as I know it’s a pretty ethical KOM! I didn’t club any baby seals on the way up 😉
way to go
what drone do you use? Great ride btw
Skydio 2
what drone are you running? that's an awesome cinematographic view ...what a word!
It’s the Skydio 2 autonomous drone
Did you race Chowchilla?
No, I’m avoiding the local crits at the moment to focus on training for nationals and avoid crashing.
Can I get a Hoya on the next video?
You should go for onnyx summit or big bear in the san Bernardino forest.
What cockpit is that ?
Farsports F1. It’s a Chinese brand.
wonder the car that went past had a radar that interfered.
Are you on the big chain ring through out this entire climb?
No, little chain ring most of the way, the speed is pretty low.
Which drone do you use?
Skydio 2 www.skydio.com/skydio-2
I could do this no problem... i juts have to go train to ride in zone 13 for 20 minutes and im good to go.
Wait is that drone flying on its own while tracking you??!?!
Yep! It’s tracking me visually with the cameras and also with the GPS beacon that I have in my pocket. It’s pretty cool technology.
Shee man that's actually sick
How tall are you?
71 inches or 180cm
55 psi??
I have a sensitive gooch
