- It's been a few months since our last drive over to the Cars & Caffeine at Combermere classic & sports car meet, so when news of a February 2024 gathering at The Old Piggery Cafe at Combermere emerged, it was swiftly added to the calendar.
This was our first visit in the 1950 Ford V8 Pilot, we arrived early and parked between two classic cars, a VW camper and dad's MGB GT. A steady stream of cars old & new arrived throughout the morning, ranging from classic cars such as a Sunbeam Tiger, Jensen Interceptor, Jaguar XK150, Triumph Spitfire & Stag, Minis and various pickups, through to more recent sportscars and supercars, so a real variety.
As this is primarily a classic car channel, it's the older cars that I'll focus on although I try and feature a bit of everything.
Thanks to Michael Franks who powered up his drone and took a few photos and a video clip from the heavens above and agreed to me sharing his footage in this video.
If you're a fan of classic cars in general, please take a look around the Old Classic Car channel using the links below as a huge number of different classic car meets now feature, including previous outings to the Cars & Coffee at Combermere meets. Excellent cars at this meet really great video
Thank you
Thanks, yes an excellent turnout especially for the time of year, thanks for watching
Another great vid, some real beauties there including the XK150 and Interceptor SP. As usual you spent time looking at the cars that are sometimes left under the radar such as the Tamsin, Celica and Punto. Although they weren’t the headline grabbers in their day, they were the models that were most common and I always enjoy seeing in your content. Many thanks.
Thanks! yes I try and feature as broad a range of cars as possible, while always prioritising the old or the unusual in particular
Love the variety of cars that come to these UK cars n caffeine.,.. To take one home, and to pick a classic it would be the Jag xk150. Stunning. If I had all the money in the world and needed to pick a modern one it could be the GT3, MB SLS or perhaps the McLaren - too many choices! Keep up the good work… love to see cars we never ever see here in the US such as that 3 wheeler Morgan! Cheers and carry on
Thanks Eric!! Keep watching :)
Hi 👋 Great show of cars. I like the Porsche 911 in that green. They have been in production for a long time now. Modified over the years. Your Ford Pilot is beautiful, such an old treasure.
Thanks again for a great video, the Pilot is my favourite of all the cars that I've seen at O.C.C. since I've been watching. It would be something that I would consider giving up my Rover P4 100 for, but not quite. Keep up the good work. All the best.
The couple in that 3 wheel Morgan come to the VSCC meets at my local pub. The Star at Copmere.
To take home , first choice XK150, no question. Second 1971 Porsche 911 I really like that green.Third 1972 Jensen Interceptor. Forth Sunbeam Tiger. A really good turn out at this meet and I have never seen that model Thunderbird in the UK either Rick. A bit unfortunate for the little Porsche 914 but it recovered its dignity at the end. Thanks Rick for another great video. 👍👍
Thanks, I can't make my mind up between the XK and the Jensen
Sunbeam Tiger, XK150, VW Camper
The Pilot doesn't fail to look and sound good. Favourites at the meet: that super looking Saab 96 V4 and the extremely 'purposeful' sounding Sunbeam Tiger. I remember Peter Harper rallying Tiger's with some success. Sorry to hear Mrs OCC 'failed to proceed'......
I had a SAAB 96 in the 70s (and now I'm in MY 70s) which had Koni shocks, Michelin X tires, and Lucas PL700 headlights. It burned valves several times, so I concocted a dual exhaust system using the Sonett front collector as a take-off point. All was fine after that. So, all that being said, the SAAB 96 is high in the running for favorite but certainly not alone!
The Sunbeam Tiger was a very interesting car.
Agreed, it's a belter
My vote is for the TR 4 with the surrey top.
Stephen
Yeah it's a great looking car
I'm glad to see that power bulge bonnet on the inca yellow mgb gt I've long been thinking of putting that on my inca gt but with the bonnet in yellow and bulge in black
Another great video Rick. My choice of todays line up woould be the SAAB 96. Being a SAAB man, I started off with a 1963 Bullnose 2 stroke - 3794 VB - what a machine ! Then had a SAAB 96 V4, Red, like the one there - TRA 407F. Various SAABs since - a 99 and 4 x 900s. Thanks for doing these videos for us. Take care 🙂
Actually Richard the 912 came later as an entry level model. My mate has one in the same colour as that 911.
Ah ok got it, thanks
Favourites:
#1 1959 Jaguar XK150 33:04 41:28 43:51
#2 1972 Jensen Interceptor 9:10 14:56 35:32
#3 1971 Porsche 911 7:20 20:06 40:50
😁👍
Great show, just a bit to far for me, all the way from Essex, ??? never say never. Cheers Bob
Naa a bloke came up from Stratford upon Avon to the Crewe meet the other month in his Renault 5 (admittedly Essex is a little further away), in fact Crewe is this coming Sunday
@@oldclassiccarUK I’ll can’t make this Sunday but will check out an option for later this year, I use my Stag for it. Bob
Hi rick, great vid, good selection of beautiful cars.i think the v8 n saab would be my choice to take home.have to ask the owners 1st lol.regards to mrs occ.
Thank you so much for your video! You pronounce Fuchs nearly correctly. It is easier: the “chs” is pronounced like a “x”. So Fuchs is nothing else as a german fox👍
It is pronounced, "fooks", means fox in German..................bit like people who cannot pronounce Porsche, even Mike Brewer gets that one correct..........
Mmm I could see that landing me in trouble with CZcams's swearing filter!
Ha!!!!!!!!!!@@oldclassiccarUK
@@oldclassiccarUK Huaaaa nonono stop! the german U ist pronounced like jour "oo"
@OCC 'FUCHS' wheels are pronounced "Phoox"
39:06 thanks for getting a shot of my M5, shame I didn’t have the rear diffuser on. I have a new one on order and it didn’t arrive in time for its first outing
that was a good collection of cars, some never seen before.
Nice one, the car for me would be the Silver Seraph although I would prefer an Arnage. The Pilot is a magnificent machine.
Thanks, yes there was a good mix of cars at this one, some familiar, others new, so a worthwhile trip out, that era of R-R and Bentley do appeal
Excelent video 👍🏻 I'd be hard pressed to turn down any of the three parked together there.... XK150, TR4, MGC. 🤩
A great selection thank you so much for a fine day out did you have smokey rashers sausage and Tea with toast or a scone and coffee love the video safe home.
There may well have been post-event rashers, I couldn't possibly comment further ...
Such a shame when people lower those old pickups, for me it completely ruins the look of them.
I prefer them standard I must admit, but everyone to their own I guess! thanks for watching
Plus low profiles look ghastly.
Is this event of regular times or just as and when....looks great.
There's a Facebook page for it which gets updated, I think it's first Sunday of the month (weather depending) but keeping an eye on the FB page is the best bet to be sure
Some very nice cars, but my choice would be the Jaguar XK150. Many years ago, here in Australia, the manager of a local engineering company had one of these and his daughter used to drive it around town. Both car and girl were very desirable.
Sounds like a good combo :-)
That old Bay Window camper needs a Sims of London Road, Bath dealer sticker in the rear window to complement its Bath registration.
Great video but would be nice if could talk some of the owners of these great cars, thanks again.
Yeah I agree, sometimes I do get to chat with owners at the meets we get to
This is a great meeting . Wish l lived closer Richard. Any chance of a chin wag with your Dad ? After all you know him well , we don't ...... or is he camera shy ? Cheers Richard
He's definitely not camera shy, I'll see what I can do
Thanks Richard , Your father and l are probably closer aged than you and l ........
My winners for the day are the Pilot and the SAAB. I've been to Combermere a few times but stopped going because it always seems to be full of sports cars are cars that have been 'butchered' and I'm not much of a fan of either.
Yeah it's less focused than some meets we go to but it's still fun, and makes a change to some of the other classics-only events
My favourite was the SAAB, back in the early '70s my maths teacher had one and commuted about 30 miles each way to the school.
Variety is the spice of life which The Old Piggery does very well.
9:48 I was going to fast and missed the entrance 😅 what kind of mong has to reverse into the car show 🫠🫠🫠 so embarrassed haha
Mini drivers huh!!?? :-) Cool way to make an entrance IMO
Roll on till all the sale is gone off the roads again.
"Sale"?..........
@@richardsealey3626 January? 🙂 :-)
