Hey Jamie, I quite often take 2 hours for balayage application and sometimes feel bad about keeping the client for longer but would rather take my time to get a awesome result rather than rushing and being more concerned about timing. Hearing you say you took 5 hours from start to finish made me feel so much better about how I do my clients, I've always believed the end result is everything!
Hi Laura, thanks for watching! I'm so happy to hear that it was helpful!
Laura Robinson hi Laura, i am glad to know that. I do have the same feeling as you do. To be honest, i believe a proper balayage or foilayage need at least 3.5-5hrs depends on the hair’s thickness and length. You can check out my work from my instagram winnihairstylist. most of my work were about 4 hrs.
so how much would you charge for that?
I agree makes me feel so much better. I'm a newer stylist and it takes me a couple hours too but all of my coworkers are so fast 😥
in Germany you have to do this Job in 1,5 hours. so I'm a snale here.
I love watching you do this technique no matter how many times you film it. Your always changing it up depending on the head and goal color! Great job!
Thank you so much for watching Courtney!
Its nice seeing someone with thick coarse hair in your videos... When I do a client's hair its never like a client with medium to thin hair... I am so glad I am not the only one that it takes over 5+ hours... Love the outcome... this is an older video, but still... great turn out.
I'm thrilled to hear you loved it. Thanks for watching!
Hey Jamie!! This was helpful in many ways! I also feel like I’m the slowest stylist on earth with color especially any type of foiling, balayage etc, hearing you actually say how long things took really did help me feel like ok I’m not crazy slow this is normal! Thank you!
I really appreciate the mention of timing; I'm a very new stylist so of course I'm slow but it has been one of my biggest insecurities when clients come in for big color projects and act like it's crazy that application just takes that long sometimes
I'm thrilled to hear you loved this! Thanks so much for watching.
Excellent video! Thank you so much for breaking down the amount of time it takes for application as well as the whole process start to finish! This is my go-to foilayage/balayage technique behind the chair!
I'm so glad it's helpful! Thanks for watching Megan!
Omg I used this technique and the results where amazing. Clean seamless balayage! Thank you so much for sharing this and all of your work. Thank you 😊 took me about hour half but could have spent longer. Excellent ❤️
Hey Ben Jerrard I'm so happy to hear you've learned so much from my videos! Thank you so much for watching.
Just gorgeous, thank you again for another amazing video. Back when I was at cosmo school I never had set balayage classes that were part of our hair dressing certificates. They have since made them a part of the cosmo courses in Australia so I was told. So you have to learn it now I’m pretty sure which is good. I just love the fact that kind generous hair dressers like yourself help us other HDs etc out by posting your amazing hair vids. Plus your so bubbly and fun to watch, never a dull moment at all! A big fat thumbs up from me as always 😁
Thank you so much for saying this! You're so sweet.
Hey sweetheart you were the 1st hairdresser in all of these CZcams videos that was honest and said exactly how long that takes cause clients don't realize how long that really takes to do they think it's gonna be done in an hour or 2 you were the 1st one to say how long it really takes it look beautiful
Wow😍she looks so happy with it

Thank you so much!
I’ve been watching you a ton lately and was like “is that Sierra?!” Hahaha. I love her.
Hey jaimie thank you so much I had a hard time blending my balayage , I always have kind of a warmer tone in my blending that boders me a lot. I will definetly try the conditioner technique! Im a new hairdresser so that will help me a lot I think! Im gonna practice tommorrow on a mannequins head! Sorry me english is not the best
Soooo beautiful!!😍😍😍😍
Thank you so much Bruna!
Your amazing thank you for sharing your knowledge ❤️

Thank you!
Ugh!! I love your work I wish you were closer to Mississppi. I’d love to watch you in person!! I’m so slow on my baylage and highlights💗💗
I'm thrilled to hear you loved this! Thanks for watching.
I’m having a hard time with toners. When I was in school we were just told “use purple if she’s too yellow” but I’ve seen people use 3-4 different toners and I’m just like... 🤯
I’ve studied the shades chart but I guess I need to study a little more 😣
You'll get it the more that you learn the color wheel! Thanks for watching!
Love this!! Thank you!
I love your videos so much!!! Great content. I can tell you are a natural teacher. I love the voice you use when you’re in your color area, telling us what you’re doing. Otherwise, it seems like you’re trying to be loud for us to hear. I don’t think it’s needed though. It’s so loud at the very beginning. I hope this is helpful rather then hurtful. That’s def not my intention
Again, thank you for sharing with the hair community, your technique and thought processes. I’m such a fan!
Thanks for your feedback! I'll keep that in mind for future videos!
Wow this vid is so sick!!!
Looked amazing
Thanks Angela!
I learned a lot from your video thank you!
I'm so happy to hear that! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for share.it so helpful for me i learn a lot from your video
That looks so good, I'm really impressed!! Hmm I have balayage scheduled soon and she says it'll take about three hours, but my hair is way longer than this girls, and I also purchased it for a pretty great discount on groupon, I'm a little worried she won't spend the time that's needed...
Thanks so much for watching! Good luck!
Omg!! Love this collaboration! Two of my faves 😍💖
So glad you loved it! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for acknowledging how much time and product it takes us hairstylists !!! Some people be outraged when I give them prices

Amazing!
Thank you!
Ur awesome somtimes my clients take a 4 hr n it discourages me but I take my time and am neat
Hi Jamie,
I'm really loving your work and techniques. I've seen a few people here commenting that it's refreshing to know how long application actually takes and I agree with them! I've also struggled with feeling bad for keeping people in the chair "too long". What I'm wondering now is, how do you price out our services?
Ibtred this technique works great..takes a while ...but next time hopefully I'll be faster
Thanks so much for watching! The more you practice the faster you will be!
Hey thanks for the helpful techniques. Just an FYI, I noticed you use shades EQ to tone and I learned with that line, the color stops working if it’s overworked. You are supposed to stir it but not shake it and also never work it into the hair to the point that is suds. Suds=less deposit. This was a game changer for me. My tones are so much better since learning this from the redken reps. So I thought I would share the knowledge. Hope it helps. :)
Thanks for watching!
Hi Jamie! I have a question.. would the results still look good if you hadn't weaved it, and just teased it? The results are beautiful & thank you!
I loved how this came out! I was wondering where you get your color bowls ?
Thank you! You can check out my favorites on my amazon store www.jamiedana.com/amazon
Beautiful.
Thank you Maria!
I love this 🤗😊😍 i have a client tommorrow, but she wants to be more icy/platinum,so im going to do smaller sections, but ive never used the Redken shades eq toners🤷🏼♀️ tomorrow will be my 1st time using them...
Any advice to keep her tone really icy, should I just use 9v and 9p🤔🤔🤔
Help please !!!!!!
P.s. i absolutely LOVE your conditioner technique, and i use it all the time,so thank you for sharing 😁😊😉
Your awesome, thanks for sharing
Love this video
I'm so happy to hear you loved this. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you so much for your videos! I have been watching them only for a couple of months, and I learn SO MUCH from you. I love your work and how you explain even the smallest details-details make the color. ♥️♥️♥️ Do you have a Snapchat you post to?
I'm so happy to hear my videos have been helpful!
Hi ..I Watch your videos from Puerto Rico.am stylist.you work amazing.
Thanks so much for watching!
"she has a thick shaft so we want to bust through that" nice
Haha! Yeah there's a lot of terms in the hair world that can be taken the wrong way 😂
@@JamieDana gotta love the "I'll do her" when we are referring to like maybe shampooing or applying color 😆😆😆
marisol Rodriguez or now I’m going to “ open this up and penetrate “ talking about opening up a section of hair and penetrating colour etc into the section of hair.
@@NMW80 🤣🤣🤣
Jamie Dana why I keep reading comments on videos right when they actually said that in the video lol
Love this . Thanks for sharing. What order would you do the hair if you have to retouch gray roots and balayage the rest of the hair? Im always afraid the dark color would ruin the highlight
I usually start with the base color although if you are afraid of that happening, you can always let the base color process first, rinse, dry and then bayalage although it will take longer!
Hi! Will you also recommend that technique in virgin black hair?
Hi jamie i love you and your hair transformation but can i ask you a favor? Online everyone use redken to tone the hair but here in my country is so so difficoult and expensive and i wanna ask if u can use Wella color touch toners i wanna know from u if they are beautiful or not and how to use it
Thanks for watching my videos! And I love the suggestion! However, I typically only use Redken or Goldwell to tone because those are the brands I know. I've heard great things about Wella Color Touch, I just haven't used them before! I know that Justin Anderson uses them occasionally, so check out his channel!
Nikooolash also check out @brianacisneros on Instagram. She only uses wella and she’s an amazing Colorist. Good luck
What would you do jaime if a client with Virgin hair wants to go one shade lighter, but yet color cannot do it what would you do?
@assertyourself do suuuuuuper fine baby lights back to back foils :)
Becky Boyce Unfortunately yes, then Do you have to explain to them that it’s a color correction. I think a heavy highlight and a glass might be the best solution
Thank you so much
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching!
upload game STRONG this week 😩😩
Thank you!
Waoo i love it😍
I just came from Sierra’s channel. I definitely am glad that she collab with you. So I was able to discover you! ❤️❤️❤️
