      Gorgeous. I learned to use the Secret Sauce. i have it on hand , anyway, (thanks to you) it's not expensive and it just means I don't have have to have , yet another, conditioner to store. Also, the fix technique. Very helpful. I always wonder how you gauge how much space between the sections on super thick dark hair. I end up making them a little too blonde (yes, there IS such a thing) because I am nervous that the highlight might get lost, OR IF i use a wider weave, too chunky. As I watched I thought, "Wow, that's alot of depth. Will we see the highlight?", but the result was gorgeous. Oh! also the clip in front of the backcombing! Such. " OMG! DUH!" moment for me with those clients with that super springy

      Yeah I mean it's great for a stylist but it's shit for a client. I've had that happen to my own hair. It looks great in the chair, then when that toner washes off 3 weeks later you see it and it looks like shit. We know it's a bleach job. So it's either retone or go back to the chair. That's the problem with bleach it's great for changing up a whole base but if it's not perfect and you're a natural 2-3 going blonde it's a real bitch to maintain. $$$

    • @alannaalanna8072
      @alannaalanna8072 Před 5 lety +9

      Anonymous girl no human is perfect. Mistakes are inevitable. She was showing us a technique to fix an honest mistake.
      If you don’t like how a bleach and tone looks on darker brown hair than get something that’s easier for YOU and your budget. No one is putting a gun to your head forcing you to be blonde at a level 3 😂

    • @JDoe-hb7pc
      @JDoe-hb7pc Před 5 lety +4

      @@alannaalanna8072 Do you even read? Why don't you slow down. No where did I diss her for her mistake. Lines of demarkation, over, under, bleed marks, etc.. are not just "oops mistakes." They are reasons that a client may never book you again. Extra special care should always be taken regardless of base color. It isn't about the upkeep "budget" gtfoh with that pretentious bs. It's about the quality of service. Toner is not a permanent fix, it get's them out of the chair but you obviously don't give a shit. Toner is probably your signature specialty! lol

    I once had a stylist notice a piece of my hair that didn't get bleached and it made it look like a dark spot in the back, and she told me she could fix it if I came back next time (she recommended i came back again to lighten my color because it was orange). I paid and then I found out I would have to actually make another appointment and pay again just to have her fix it.
    I ended up emailing the shop pictures later and I was able to go back and get it fixed (they just dyed my whole hair blonde instead pretty much). The whole experience was uncomfortable (especially having to go back) so I LOVE that you recognize to fix what you see. I'm still nervous to go back to a salon after that :/

      I have very dark brown hair. I love high lights. Stylist are afraid to use stronger bleach ex 40. I do it myself now and use 40 bleach Schorzkoff (spelling?). I have to leave it on for 1hour minimum to get the lift I need to be able to tone to a beautiful blonde. A toner will not help orange hair. This is what I get every time I pay to get my hair done. I have no breakage but I do use the quality stuff. I wished I could find someone like Jamie Dana❤️. Highlights helps to camouflage my grays.

    I've been using your foliage technique for a little bit now, on a variety of hair clients. Thick hair, thin hair, dark , light and I have been so happy with my results. Just like you said in one of your previous videos, I wasn't happy with my open air balayages, and your techniques has made me so much more confident in my work.

    All the best hair stylists (like you) live so far from me 😔 I can’t find anyone to work with my hair like this. Mine is very similar to this client - very dark, very thick. I get my hair done maybe once or twice a year - it takes hours and hours and I feel stylists end up rushing through my hair once they start to realize how long it takes to section for balayage like this. I end up like hers where the whole bottom layers of my hair look mostly unchanged. Ahhh. Just wish I could find a stylist who puts as much care and technique into this like you did. Awesome job.

    Nice. I love to see the result on straight styled hair. Most balayages show waves and while it looks great, when you want to style it straight, the blend job is really highlighted (no pun intended). ;)

    The way you’re so positive, uplifting, and informative realllly helped with my understanding! Videos are harder for me to learn from- I’d rather have a 1 on 1 class. My main trouble with balayages in general is saturation. Too little of a section, bleeding. Too big of a section, spotting due to uneven saturation. Seeing you weave and do it that way just blew my mind and 5 years later I’m excited to do my next balayage 😂

  • @sukiliyah

    So sooooo helpful! Easily explained and easy to follow along! I’m so happy that you gave that little tip at the end! Who would have thought?! A mini root smudge to correct a small area! And yes, shades not being required to shampoo allows for a quick spritz of water and redrying of the small piece of hair ! Thank you so much for the tips and tricks! Definitely have to look into that blending agent! I love how it sticks the hair right to the foil without glide! Thanks Jamie!!!

    Omg I love how it turned out! My hair looks just like her original hair, it doesn’t have enough blonde underneath and the blonde wear I had my balayage last year has grown out about as much as hers and my natural hair color is that same brown shade, I want that exact color done to my hair, my hair is also the same length! I’m tempted to do it myself but I’m not going to I’m going to take this video to the hair dresser and show her the final results and tell her I want more blonde underneath so when I put it it will still have plenty of blonde underneath!
