But,
The protectors wouldn't kill the dragon to get the portals. Instead they would follow dream by their own portal as they need to protect multiple dragons at the same time and so they must have portals to other seeds. The reason why more huntters are added is because dream is dangerous and so has to have more Hunters to try and stop the final slayer.

I have an interesting headcanon that the dream smp is an island continent separated from the rest of the world and only the strongest want to go there, perhaps out of fear of the dreamons(which are fascinating) and that dream is part of a bloodline of pseudo gods such as dreamxd and drista. He was placed in control over a seemingly unimportant and dangerous island because he had no real powers to his name. Having no powers like whatever creative mode canonically is, he instead decided to get as physically powerful as possible. When he got the revive book and thus gained a godly power, it was less "I'm a god" and more "I'm *finally* a god"
I love that so much, and maybe one of his family members is in the end (hence why eyes of ender and ender pearls are green, that would also explain ranboo’s eye) and he doesn’t want them to mess up his plan on becoming a god
PLUS enderwalking ranboo is friends with dream, and dream could have told enderwalk ranboo that “the end was closed by someone (or something) else, but his brother was still ruling and helping it” in order to get himself an ally even in prison.

If that's the case I have a storyline... Another descendant of the Gods was born. They named him after his older brother "DreamXD" and thus they call him "Dream". They later discovered that Dream doesn't have any godly powers, which they thought was a disgrace to their name. They kept him a secret from everyone. When he starts to grow up he notices that his parents wasn't proud of him. He demanded that he wants to rule he demanded that he wants to be like his siblings. Even his younger sister is already helping their parents rule the kingdom. So they sent him in a faraway land where nobody would know who he is and let him rule his people there... Times have passed and another descendant was born. Which is Ranboo, despite the fact that he looks different from all of them they didn't have any doubt that he was their child. However when they found out that Ranboo is also powerless they have feared that not only would their name be in shame but also that he might pick up from his older brother, Dream. Before Ranboo even knew how to think for himself they immediately threw him to the Dream SMP, hoping that he would live a normal human life and hoping that he wouldn't find out that he is a descendant of the gods
It made Dream a bit relieved that he wasn't the only powerless God. So he welcomed Ranboo with open heart. but then again later on Ranboo discovered his powers (silk touch hands) and Dream felt threatened by the fact that his younger brother might find out about their bloodline. Dream follows Ranboo around and discovers that his powers also brought a curse which is the enderwalk. Dream studies how Ranboo acts during enderwalks and he also studies how to trigger it. He takes advantage of this curse making Ranboo his instant puppet. Ranboo's subconscious mind (the voice in his head) tries to warn Ranboo and tells him all the things he has done while he's on his enderwalk hoping that Ranboo himself would try and find a way to stop the enderwalks..... aaaand you guys know the rest my hands are tired now😂😂

The only thing that I don’t really get with this theory is the specifics of how when Dream loses a manhunt and dies his soul is carried over to the next world with the hunters also, in that scenario, why would the hunters kill the dragon and go to another world if they’re supposed to protect her from Dream and don’t want him to come back and hunt her?
Other than that I like how this all ties together and explains not only the manhunts but also the Dream SMP lore and Game Theory Minecraft theories’ lore
Also also to add to the theory when Sapnap’s dog died in the most recent manhunt Bad said “oh so if you can’t have a pet no one can?” Or something along those lines which would explain why he kills pets in the Dream SMP so much (I think he’s the only hunter who’s had a pet in the manhunts so far too). And Sapnap’s line in the Dream SMP about being born from fire after falling in lava could relate to his lava fight with Dream where he lost and he could mean it as a character defining moment.
Finally, if the hunters were the first members of the Dream SMP when they made the agreement to stop manhunts then where was Antfrost (canonically) from the start of the Dream SMP until when he joined? Dream, George, Sapnap, Bad and Sam were some of the first members so it makes sense with them and Callahan is apparently a god so that works too but does that mean Antfrost was in hiding or something or just on a journey of some kind until he joined?
(Really liked the video btw, sorry if it sounded like I was nitpicking)
I havent watched the video yet but i have this theory that dream is jumping dimensions while running from the hunters, looking for a dimension where the hunters dont exist (or at least dont wanna kill him) and he does that by beating the ender dragon and going through the end portal because while for normal people, end portals are the end of the game for Dream its a way to go to the next dimensions, the difference between the hunters and dream is also showj by the fact that he cant respawn, if hes dead, hes dead), also dream records a lot of manhunts where he dies so Going along with the mcu reference I have a theory that relates to the line "I see a thousand universes and only in one do we win", a lot of these failed manhunts are the dreams of those dimensions that failed and that also explains why dream doesnt meet any alternate versions of himself (Like i get its a huge world but if youre gonna jump that many worlds youre gonna meet yourself at least once)

He answered my question in his stream anyway lol. He said that the hunters kill the dragon to reset the world so that Dream can’t find a way to respawn and try again because he thought about how they did so in one video so that Dream couldn’t kill it first. They know that moving onto the next world also brings Dream with them and that their job is to protect the dragon rather than kill it but that they didn’t have any other way to stop Dream besides that. That is, until they get to the Dream SMP world and make a truce.
(I hope that makes sense)

Do you think that Manhunts could be a sort of curse? Maybe people who vowed to be Protectors broke their vow and ended up there. My thought is Dream convinced George to break his vow and kill a dragon, so they got sent into a limbo where they are forever fighting, Dream living what he always secretly wanted to do, kill a dragon, and George, who was unwilling, trying to stop him. Every time someone else breaks their vow, they're sent into the limbo, where George and Dream try to pull them to their own sides, but since these people were once Protectors and knew what they did was wrong, they usually choose George's side. Until, that is, we get two hunters ;).
I like these lore concepts, they're amazing

I think that the timeline starts at the newest manhunt and George's friends keep on dyeing from Dream and George finally kills Dream and avenges his friends.

My theory for the end of Dream SMP is that it will be the thing that starts the Manhunts. I imagine a finale where Dream beats the ender dragon, this being his end goal of his villainous arc, and goes through the portal but never reappears. Worrying about him causing havoc on another world, people is sent to stop him through the portal in the same order the hunters were added to the Manhunts. They enter the portal at almost the same time, but the small difference in time makes them appear one by one in different Manhunts, each happening maybe chronologically or at the same time in different timelines/universes. At some point, after a few people go in to go after Dream, the portal collapses on itself and it stops anyone else from joining the Manhunts. For this to happen, this final arc of the Dream SMP has to make all the hunters from the Manhunts be on bad terms with Dream's character, which most of them are at this point. Also, to make it even better, Dream should have already on mind the future hunters, to make them enter the portal even if the Manhunt where they are featured is not out yet.
Also I have a theory where Dream as a character is aware he's inside a videogame (a simulation) and thinks the only way to escape from that place to a real plane of existence is to beat the game, not knowing that after beating the dragon, entering the portal and credits you just get back to the overworld. Also his plot still develops towards a point where his villain character arc ends with killing the ender dragon, thinking either he'll destroy everyone in the process because they'll cease to exist in the game after the game is over, or that he is actually saving them from the simulation.

Yess new vid :D omg i love game theory, espesially the minecraft ones poggggg
My head canon is I see the smp as like a board game. There are gods playing the game, controlling the players seen as “demi-gods” like foolish, techno, and dream, and then there are the observers that are Dream XD, Drista, and Callahan, which are overseeing the game, making sure the rules are being followed, occasionally giving power ups(drista with the bedrock and shulker box), and mini games(the gambling dream XD did). The other players are controlled by humans that are playing with the gods. The change in character around the egg, is a debuff, (like when you land on a loss square and lose some hp or lose a turn) and the 3 canonical lives, is a rule implicated by the observers(otherwise known as the admins) that is to make the game more fair, and to make sure it doesn’t just go on forever. The ghost thing is because everyone who lost all their lives, gets a challenge, and when the character is in limbo, that’s the time when the player is completing the channel, abandoning their character in the limbo space(think monopoly jail but worse).
Idk it’s fun to think about ig lol.

and if we're talking about dream smp lore, dream has the book of revival that got passed down through ancestors, which means even if the slayers did not have a respawn point they still could revive other slayers. that could have motivated them to continue on slayin the dragon even though they don't have respawn point, because they won't get consequences

Alt theory: manhunts are just a game based on Minecraft’s fundamental rules. Just like respawning is normal to people in Minecraft so too is death in any game with that mechanic. Which connects manhunts to the dream smp as it’s just another universe as is mcc. Only in mcc it pulls powerful people from other dimensions into a sponsored Olympic type event based also upon Minecraft’s mechanics. Then in the dream smp respawning is ALSO canon. Otherwise Tommy’s duel with dream would have been a literal death match- it’s the reason they know of the existence of Hamilton,government,and Greek myth when none of those things existed prior to the events leading to the founding of L’manberg.

on the dream smp, sapnap said that if dream escaped prison it would be him who would hunt dream down, badboyhalo, antfrost and awesamdude are prison wardens so my headcanon is that the manhunts take place after dream escapes prison and all the hunters have more than one canon live left which is why the hunters can respawn but dream only has one canon live left which is why he can't, maybe on the dream smp, there are alternate universes or timelines where something different happened in each one and all the manhunts are alternate universes, there are alternate universes or timelines where something different happened in each one which would explain how there could be multiple manhunts even when dream gets killed
Him looking for the woodland mansion could be why he uploads only once every other month because it takes so long to find one

This is really easily solved. Philza was materialized before in the world somewhere far. Bcs we know Wilbur was sending him letters that means he has to be in the world. So in that moment he flew from the place in the world where he live to lmanburg.

going by this theory I'd say that the hunters are the ones that go to other worlds to stop dream from being able to kill the ender dragon, but sometimes fail and follow the dream they lost to to another world to stop his rampage and that's how they can have manhunts following his defeat

I think that this is mostly right, I think that dreamxd is a God that creates world after world, for when he's bored, but doesn't want to be overpowered all the time cause it takes away the fun, so I think he has a bunch of different spirits that are brought back to life for every different world, this is why Karl sees the other members of the smp in the past, but they're not the same people, but also why you almost never see dream in the past, he used the manhunts to test out a mortal form of himself and to train himself to be nearly unkillable, because without him in the world, something keeps ending it, and he eventually realized it was the death of the ender dragon that did so

It’s always been my dsmp head canon that the smp used to be controlled by the dragon and mind controlled the strongest warriors to protect him and dream freed the server. That’s why everyone used to like him so much

So, I get why Manhunts are particularly canon to Dream's character and motivations but there's another CZcams series equally as plausible to be canon: SMP Earth.
During Manburg Arc, Techno outright reminds Tommy that they've been driven to violence before, during the Battle of Da Pit. Matter of fact, the events of SMP Earth would perfectly cement the character relationships between Philza, Techno, Wilbur, and Tommy during the Dream SMP.
So, is SMP Earth just as canonical as Manhunts are?

Nah, if manhunts are canon, the concept that Dream wants to eradicate the enderdragons and the hunters want to protect them is flawed. Since the hunters on several occasions have mentioned killing the enderdragon before dream to stop him. Or have tried to getthe lasthit on the enderdragon. Or straight up deleted the enderdragon and made a new one. There was also the timethat George was the speedrunner and Dream was the hunter.
Does the mean that any normal speedrun is just a dimension or time before the hunters?
