    I mean, Dream doesn't seem like a person who isn't always five steps ahead. That's why Dream is one of my favorite characters(Alongside Wilbur), his character is so villainous, and his manipulation skills really gives him an upper-hand. I mean yes, i do have a bias for villains, but his character is so cool!

      I prefer Techno. He isn't a manipulator. He is quite straight with people about his values and goals. His preparations are all for rather straightforward combat, but he does it so well. Despite his apparent immortality, he knows his limits and will retreat when necessary. He can fight a half dozen people with the right equipment and potions. He is arguably a villain, but he is also a man of his word and has strong convictions. He aids his friends rather than leeching off of them like some allegedly "good" characters.

    The most important line from all the lore yesterday was from Dream himself. When he was confronting Tommy, just before he swore to make Tommy’s life a living hell? He said something along the lines of “They’ll think I’ve changed…”
    He did this exclusively to become the good guy. He victimized himself, stuck himself in prison, acted pathetic and broken and reformed so that the server would see him as the victim. The victim of Sam, of the Prison, of Tommy. The server thinks the prison was built for Tommy, they say Dream deserved it, and he pretends to believe it.
    Man’s never reformed and never plans to. The torture from Q was probably unexpected, but it just makes Dream look more hurt, more changed, more pathetic. It plays directly into his plans.
    If people don’t find out about Punz’s lie, they’ll think Dream is a good guy. They won’t listen to Tommy’s cries about exile and how dangerous Dream is. They’ll go back to thinking Tommy is overreacting and annoying and ignore it when Dream makes it even worse down the line.
    It’s devious. It’s evil. It’s incredible. And I’m so. So happy that I saw it coming. It was a thought in the back of my mind for months, but seeing it all come together is just. Perfection. It’s a spider’s web tightening around its victim. The threads are all sharpened and taut, ready to close in. And Dream, the wicked weaver, is the one pulling them. He never stopped being the puppet master. He just had to make sure no one else saw him as such.

      with all due respect that is ridiculous. he literally went ahead and tried to kill tommy and sapnap, two of the people with the most friends on the server. he just said that to scare tommy and he was lying. he knew that was a bluff. tommy should've known it too but he was too scared to realize. also c!dream expected the conditions to be better and not to be tortured in the prison, so he got forced to be the victim, not made himself one. no one cared about him being tortured. he didn't do anything close to requesting pity, that's stupid. he's got a bigger plan. he doesn't plan to reform, he plans to finish what he started. he didn't want to seem pathetic and he didn't want to be abused. they will not believe him, everyone still hates dream and are scared of him, and he is purposefully trying to make them believe that. everyone believes tommy. dream isn't even targetting him, the staged finale proves he never cared to hurt tommy, he just used him as a pawn to get himself locked up in a "finale". weird that you saw it coming because you have a very tenuous grasp on dream's character. he is incredible though. and there is no spider's web around a single victim. dream doesn't care about tommy. he's just used him for part of his plan and kept going. there's something much more complicated going on and pretending like c!dream's narrative revolved around tommy AT ALL is a disservice. he couldn't care less about a random kid. he has more important goals with these sort of plans.

    • @rubywhistler869
      @rubywhistler869 Před 2 lety +24

      @@CrysiCrysis Ah, you're one of the people who thinks Tommy is the protagonist and Dream exists solely to be against him. His existence in the lore has never been to oppose Tommy, he only set that bit up after the start of season 2 to execute this plan. It's kind of funny to me people don't see that despite the staged finale being confirmed true. Dream is his own character and exists completely independently of Tommy, and people who think he's there to be his antagonist do not understand his character on any level, but I guess not all of us can be good at analysing the guy.
      I agree c!Dream did see him as a threat to his whole "unity" bit and that he was a big part of his plans! He used and hurt that kid to hell and back, but it wasn't because he was focused on him as a person, it was just the most efficient route to his plans and the ruthless bastard took it because he doesn't care who gets abused (including him) if it helps him reach his goal. The original conflict was c!Dream trying to keep him in line, but, as we see from the finale being staged, the rest was a convenient ploy that would allow c!Dream to get himself locked up, not about the "disc war". Hell the entire exile was mainly because Dream needed to split him and Tubbo up so Tubbo would give up the disc and he could destroy L'Manberg and then go through with the plan. It's so easy to see at this point and yet some people still chalk it up to TOMMY of all things being an important factor? Nah the man's just an evil bastard who realized the kid could be played like a fiddle thanks to his protagonist ("the world revolves around me") complex and fed into it.
      He did not lock himself up in prison to "keep Tommy in line", that makes no sense. That man has a far more complicated plan, he's a strategist and logical thinker and hating some kid isn't going to dictate what he does. Also "quell rebellions" "against his power"? The guy had no "power" besides basic respect for creating the world (as canonically confirmed) at the beginning and even that he just used to stop conflict. cc!Dream literally confirmed that was his motivation. He wants unity and will hurt people to get it, which, pop off I guess, you horrible idiot, good luck with all that trauma.
      It is not a coincidence. Dream ain't against Tommy, he's against countries, division and conflict (on a large scale). It's stupidly simple and confirmed in and out of lore multiple times. c!Tommy was first an obstacle and then a tool. c!Dream used and hurt plenty of other people. c!Tommy is not his rival, c!Dream doesn't think in narrative conventions, the man just goes towards his goals uncaring for collateral damage, which is quite fascinating, I must say.
      c!Dream also said he wanted to make c!Tommy's life hell during the Finale, and during Doomsday, both of which were lies to manipulate him into being scared and hence act the way he wanted him to. He was also bluffing, he said "everyone will think I've changed" although he's smart enough to know everybody hates him, like a lot. He's doing that on purpose, but his words are not genuine. The man is a lying liar who lies, and if you do not realize that even after he pulled THIS off, I don't know when you will.
      Also just FYI I'm not a random person commenting on the video, I'm the person who wrote the entire script of this vid, and then before with Bluebell the one that predicted it being staged. I know plenty of analysts that predicted this before the finale even happened and have a better grasp on the character than ANYONE in this fandom, so your opinion being different really doesn't matter to me, but I find it amusing how you can know about this and yet still fall for the character's manipulation SPECIFICALLY TO TOMMY hook line and sinker, believing the same things he does, that Dream wants him to think. Dramatic irony I guess. Have a nice day tho!

  • @lieseholcomb344
    @lieseholcomb344 Před 2 lety +434

    I have been saying this for a long time Dream has been staging this whole thing. Think about it, he is planning to gain back his power. I can quote him: *"You paint me to be the big bad villain, when really, I have good reasons for what I do."* He said this to Quackity, watch his vod or Captain Puffy's *Video.* Dream isn't the villain, but neither is Tommy, Schlatt was just a hiccup. Everything spun out of control from the moment Schlatt won the election. You fitted everything perfectly, just keep this in mind for the next lore stream. You don't have to believe me just keep this in mind.
    I literally have rewatched these's pov's over a million times.

      Ok well I think saying dream isn't the villan is kinda a stretch. Sure those reasons might make sense to him but he is also a psychopath who manipulates even his best friends for power. Saying Dream is not a villan like Tommy's not a villan feels like too much of a stretch. I mean he tortured so many people and scarred plenty of others just to have power. Not only that but one problem I have with the theory that dream stagged all of this from the beginning is that saying that gives Dream the foresight of a god. Sure he's smart and can usually predict what people are gonna do through knowing them as people and his own manipulation. Saying dream planned everything would be an awful conclusion for the server to end on for Dream because it almost invalidates everything that came before and everything after. I hope I don't come off as too condescending I just don't think people realize how off it is to make dream this all powerful god who knows what everyone will do and can perfectly plan for any bad situatio. Especially considering Dreams great acting on the server. He's able to make himself sound angry discontent authoritative and most incredibly of all scared. The moments when dream are actually scared tend to be some of the most brilliant ones on the server because of how real they feel Especially something like the disc war finale.

    I think the Dream SMP may not be a perfect story, but god, is it one that is so captivating. Also, I've been thinking of a few things.
    I feel like although Dream is a mastermind and a clear puppeteer, he is also a very loyal friend to those who stick by his side. This is blatantly shown with Punz, multiple times. Dream does not treat Punz as some sort of puppet or servant to just use freely because of his loyalty, but Dream really cares and does what he can to make sure his plans does not put Punz in any sort of danger. Looking back to their conversation before the imprisonment arc, Dream so clearly says that if Punz were to continue siding with Dream, it would put him in a certain danger that even Dream himself does not think he could aid. Thus, Dream made sure that when he was taken to prison, Punz looked as if he had betrayed him to take off any suspicion of Punz still siding with Dream. Also, when they had their most recent conversation, Dream makes sure that they do not mingle with each other for too long so as to avoid anyone seeing them together and making them turn on Punz, which ultimately would lead to him getting hurt and possibly killed. Punz is the only person who never left his side, and Dream will make a hole in any of his plans to ensure Punz is unhurt. On top of that, Punz trusts Dream a whole lot if you ask me. When Punz had mining fatigue and needed his stuff to get mined, he didn't hesitate to ask Dream to help him, and Dream did not try to even take anything. Dream mined the stuff and gave back the pickaxe to him, even going so far as to stand back to ensure he does not pick anything up by accident. Punz trusts Dream, and Dream trusts Punz, and I feel like this duo is going to be really powerful in the near future, with Dream pulling string and acting as the ultimate mastermind and Punz doing the best he can to make sure the plans Dream has do not foil. Though it does make me wonder, how would it be if Sapnap and George had stayed by Dream's side instead of taking Dreams words of not caring about anything but the disks to heart. Punz hadn't taken the words to heart, and now he is safe on the masterminds side.

    i think why c!Dream Made himself stuck in prison due to how people will be attaching to him later on. We saw how much fear he had sought in the server. By then, we could assume that he's a THREAT that could not be left alone. After the imprisonment, people try their best to make sure c!Dream stays in prison. After he broke out, we saw how much of an impact it was to the server. People are now ATTACHED to him. People are now FOCUSED on him. People are now OBSESSED about him. He's the CENTER, he's the SPOTLIGHT, he's the MAIN ATTACHMENT to EVERYONE. People forget their opposition to the others and will focus to him and ONLY him. It's "one big happy family" it is.

I think it only came as a panic to him that Techno came, specifically because it was under Quackity's request and not his own. It would have risked alot if Techno had died when he was in prison because of Quackity, and that would put an obstacle in Dream's plans since he would have to create another plan to get out. I've always wondered why no one takes it as weird that too many Dreams are out there. Beyond the fact that the server has Dream as a name, this DreamXD who canonically is a superior identity one of the gods and who recently mentioned to Foolish that Dream was the first to create, but speaks of gods in the plural, he is not the only god existing and you can't do everything you really want because you need to use others beyond seeming boredom and ego.
    We have Dream, the now ex-prisoner, whom we always see.
    We have the brief appearance of NotDream123 that brief is still a Dream
    This MexicanDream that even being quackity is canonically a Dream and character now dead.
    Mamacita is officially a character.
    I'm not sure if CopDream and Drista are an official character / disguise but there are still too many Dreams to just play and role-play, I think there are other 'alter egos' Dream and coincidentally, the only one who could imitate / take on the appearance of Dream was someone who has a smiley face. I don't know how real this is but the amount of Dreams in dream smp is still crazy.

      @christopherbravo1813 Před 2 lety +5

      I personally feel like, intentionally or not, the pantheon of Dream SMP resembles the Gnostic one thus far.
      we have Dream as the Demiurge, the ignorant and possibly tyrannical creator of the material world and possibly it's inhabitants,
      we have Tommy as Satanael, the fallen angel who rebelled against the Demiurge and interfered with his designs,
      and Punz appears to be at least one of the Archons, who are essentially angels or gods handpicked by the Demiurge to be his highest servants.
      I'd say Dream XD may be the One True God of this reality, or at the very least one of God's emanations, with the other gods-whether or not the Dreams are included among them-also being emanations of the divine and part of the GodHead.
      but there's one problem with this theory.
      if Dream is the Demiurge, then who is his mother? who is the Sophia of this reality?

    • @bleachollow1
      @bleachollow1 Před 2 lety +1

      @@christopherbravo1813 I don't think DreamXD is THE god, from what Foolish said there are hierarchies, it was something that you intuit when canonically he is a demigod and Dream is presumably also one, obviously the one with the greatest power is Callahan although they haven't mentioned him as a god or something Similarly, Foolish calls them 'the XD'.
      I think that Dream XD is one of the great gods but the rest unknown could be those who have control of the server and are not interested or can not bother here and there like Dream XD. My theory is that Bad has their lives linked to Skeppy, Dream XD tends to annoy him too much, scares and repels him but in the end he does nothing but be 'playful', Bad is a demon created by 'another XD' possibly, the same that brought the egg.

      @@richorangeblingbling5709 It would've been okay if dream was just a background antagonist, but seeing as he's one of the main recurring characters, it's guaranteed that he has a backstory. With Sapnap's and George's point of view of him being their best friend from the past, and with Punz being a friend a long time ago. And his character is consistent, it's just that it's not as scuffed now.
      And just because he says something that contradicts the other doesn't mean it's true. He does that everytime. It's one of the things that recurrs in his character, contradicting what he says depending on the person and situation.
      And yes while Ranboo is/was a part of Dream's plan of something, he's not the only one. Everyone is a part of his plan. So he can't really be a pop-up villain, that's like saying he's just there for one episode and he's not important to the story. When he's one of the characters that shapes and moves it.
      So yeah, while he acts and says something differently to other people, it doesn't mean he's doing the same to everyone. We don't know what's real or what's not, just what he said to the person we are currently watching. And depending on wether that affected person believes it or not, he'll keep doing it.
      If people thinks and assumes he'll act like a villain, he'll act like one. If they don't, then he won't. So yeah, a backstory is there. He is part of multiple people's backstory, so it would be strange and a massive plothole if he doesn't.

    My idea is that if Dream's plan for a while was to be in the prison, what if he told Techno about it and asked to use his favor for it? Techno might have been hesitant if he knew that he would have to bring others into it, but he still agreed. (this becomes important later.) Time goes by, and Techno goes to the prison, expecting Philza to break him out in three days, but instead, it took three months. From there on, we know how the story goes.
    All of this would've been planed before Dream entered the prison, thus, giving him time to let Punz know what Techno's plan was. This is why Punz expected to meet Dream much sooner than he did because he was expecting the plan to take three days.
    Going back to what I said earlier, as Dream is running off of Techno's property he calls out that he owes Techno a favor. But... he doesn't. They're even now. So my theory is Techno asked Dream for another favor since Techno would have to bring into and endanger other people in this plan.

    • @oweirevan2061
      @oweirevan2061 Před 2 lety +1

      techno was only in the prison because of quackity. Quackity forced Dream to write the note, and then gave it to Techno to lure him into the prison. Dream wouldn't have risked having his #1 asset, Techno, stuck in the prison with him. Remember how devestated Dream seemed when Techno got in the prison? That was his entire plan, flashing before his eyes. If techno couldn't find a way out, then neither of them were getting out. But luckily, Techno had a backup plan, and he was able to escape and free dream later. Techno never knew about Dreams plan. He would never willingly help Dream set up a plan in which his friends have a good chance of getting harmed or killed.
      Dunno why Punz expected him to meet earlier, but Dream probably got stalled a ton by Techno being in prison and Quackity torturing him. He possibly planned to get out earlier, but Quackity delayed him for a while.

They weren't able to express it because everyone is too focused on politics, wars and sides, so they can't see what makes them truly happy. Honestly, it's hard for me to call Dream "a villain" in a story where no one is a good person by morals and other shit. Everyone in Dream SMP has done some crap.
    But, I can easily call Dream "an antagonist". Because, as Tommy being kind of protagonist, Dream is simply against him.
    P.S. Keep in mind that hero/protagonist and villain/antagonist are different things. These are not synonyms.

    • @marisunex
      @marisunex Před 2 lety +15

      Well i think the big factor that makes dream one of the “villians” is because he doesnt stream the SMP. For everyone else we could at least get some sort of reasoning behind their actions but not knowing dreams plans makes him unpredictable. Him barely showing up unless its to terrorize tommy or ranboo or whoever is what makes him seem threatening. Sure everyones done something questionable but we dont definitively know why for dream which makes him the perfect villain in this storyline. Also like the other main villains in the story, Schlatt and Wilbur, he has gone against and actively tried to ruin what the others value. Also though antagonist and villain are not necessarily interchangeable, evil and good is subjective and therefore depending on the perspective you see it in anyone can be the villain, for the characters’ POV they see dream as the villain and since thats the POV fans see, thats what the majority agree on.

    I feel really proud from calling it from day one. If you go back and watch the old vods with all the details, theyve been hinting that it was staged from the start.
    Its crazy how much planning goes into this story, as that was almost a full year ago.

    I wonder if someone else mentioned this, but maybe the reason Ranboo only had one life was due to the first thing that happened to him when he joined the server (Dream killed him twice). It's such an influential event on his character, with a strong fear of Dream and a pacifist outlook on life (he made a sword that he ditched to try to please Dream so he wouldn't kill him). Its probably how Dream got into Ranboo's head too, being so scared of Dream that he does whatever Dream wants and forgetting it to protect himself (the voice Ranboo hears is his guilt/fear/suppressed memories taking on Dream's voice, the source of his guilt/fear).

    And dream needs a big distraction to start on his Tommy torture, schlatt recently said he's coming back and what's a better distraction than all of the major villains returning in the span of a few months

    The only question I have is...Why? He was clearly overjoyed when he was broken out of prison. And besides, if he wanted to regain his control on the server, locking himself in a jail for a year is an...Interesting way to do it.

    • @jahnnyponce9315
      @jahnnyponce9315 Před 2 lety +8

      He was probably overjoyed for the fact that being so long in prison and the whole torture part wasn't part of the plan at all- punz said himself that dream was supposed to be out months ago

    I mean yeah, but WHY? what did Dream gain from rotting in prison for a year and loosing his favour? what that he couldn't have achieved by just leaving for a year and living very far out
    I mean apart from some very cool streams

      @@404fearnotfound that doesn't make sense coz at first he wanted everyone to hate him! He was building that prison for himself but he was not planning to stay in the prison for long he was not planning to get tortured by Quackity! If the torture part didn't happen no one would ever think dream as a victim which was not planned! It even after getting out of the prison he is threatening everyone so no way he's trying to victimize him!

      @@HRLastro I saw someone else comment this but- one of the lines Dream said during Tommys stream was “everyone will think I’ve changed- while I make your life a living hell” he wants everyone to think that he is changed- and by tellling people that quackoty tortured him and like about his horrible conditions he can play the victim

    I’ve also heard other theories that the prison was meant for Karl, someone who knows the past, present and future, he has loads of knowledge, it’s for someone quite powerful, or who KNOWS to much or are more capable..hinting at it possibly being Karl, some people have put suspicions that it WAS meant for Karl. but that’s just a theory..

    The reason why my favorite dream smp character is c!Dream is becuz the character in it self is so complicated. The constant thought of what he's gonna do next keeps you on your toes. He's not only a genius manipulator but also always seems to be 4 dimensions ahead. Unlike c!Tommy his thoughts are planned and he always has a backup plan... He's basically villain goals

    Yea, this makes a lot of sense, but there’s one question: why. I mean, why would he put himself in the prison for so long and let himself get tortured by quackity, because it doesn’t seem like he gained anything from this, if anything, he lost his favour with technoblade.

    • @rubywhistler869

      the favor was actually for this. as well as the discs. making everyone hate him. the torture wasn't expected, but he couldn't really do anything about it. he has some much greater, much more complicated plan for the future. and it is *coming*.
