The problem is with carbohydrates in general, not just sugar alone.
"Refined" carbohydrates. Not natural carbohydrates from whole foods.
@@misspratibha9934 all carbohydrates! Complex or simple doesn’t matter. We don’t need carbohydrates at all. It’s a simple fact we fail to acknowledge.

There are no essential carbohydrates. Human beings lived without carbohydrates for 6 million years on earth. It was just in the last 10000 years when they started agriculture, did they start consuming carbs.
Following
You forgot to mention some great solutions for the industry and the environment.
1. SUGARCANE can be converted to biofuel or ethanol by the sugar mills which in fact can reduce our dependency on fossil fuels and import of crude oil.
2. Sugar mills can turn sugars into bioelectricity and they can be self-sustained and excess power can be supplied to the power grid and it can also reduce our dependency on thermal power plants.
3. By-products of sugarcane can be used to produce green plastic.
Your points for the solution are so much ideal.
1)A majority of population(even educated person) don't read nutritional labels of any product.
And also sugar is sold loosely (without any packaging or brand) in markets in most places .
2)white sugar is very versatile and can be used directly in any dish or uses with ease ,but it is not so with jaggery.
Also white sugar is widely available and cheap but not jaggery.
3) Healthier alternatives like fruits are too costly to afford.
4)We make choices on basis of advertisements .That's what the MEANING of marketing.
Sir correct it is not practical ☺️ solution given in video....
U have good suggestions? All ur points r also correct. For sugar awareness hell lot big campaign needed.
@@meckmillion7886 as far I can think, government restrictions and regulations are only solution.
And about the industrial awareness,u can't expect a criminal not to do crime all by themselves.
As individuals, we have a certain level of responsibility over our own health. Yes, the government should start regulating in order to not make the general population fall prey to all this, but we must also give up some stuff for the sake of our health. We can start reading nutrition labels. It's not that hard to do, plus it makes us more informed about what's in our food too anyway. If using jaggery is not possible in some dishes, simply dont add sugar or jaggery, it wont do us any harm. Fruits are costly depending on season, yes, but I'm sure the average urban indian household can afford them. We need to remember that we aren't doing all this for someone else, we're doing this so that *we* can live a healthier, happier life.
But when you start checking nutritional labels people thinks crazy

In my native Konkan coast, we use jaggery for making all sweets which are made elsewhere using sugar. Even besan ladoos are made with jaggery. In Goa we use two varieties of jaggery. One is the regular cane jaggery and the other is plam jaggery which is obtained by heating the sap of a palm tree over very high heat. Ayurveda uses sugar for making medicines like chyavanaprash or various arishtas and asavams. However the suger mentioned by our ancient texts was the unprocessed sugar or raw sugar which looks like big crude cryatals and not the overtly refined grains of sugar. Hence those medicines are healthy.
Our understanding of sugars is flawed, we think sugar as that white tiny crystals or maybe jaggery or maybe anything that has a sweet taste. Sugars(Glucose+Fructose) are nothing but a simple carbohydrate with high glycemic index. If you are avoiding sweet things and binging on any simple carbohydrate with high GI you are eating sugars(technically). Your body does not differentiate between that white spoon full crystals and extra spicy parathas. Sweetness is not a indentity of sugars.
True 👍
Well actually, paranthas are complex carbs with soluble fibre. So not as high a GI as table sugar
Fructose actually has a very low GI as compared to other carbohydrates, but is more harmful as it can cause fatty liver disease
@@monkeymadness596 yeah, that why everything in moderation. Also, what frusctose does for diabetics is fool their blood glucose test, while causing FLD. So that can be dangerous
this. indians need to stop gobbling carbs and sugars like a fatty. eat any sugar you want but in moderation
A lot of people are so engaged in this 'sugary' lifestyle that even the thought of going without sugary foods and drinks baffles them. But once you manage to make a shift, you won't even feel the difference. I'm definitely not missing my sugar. And I'm healthier.

If you want to reduce your sugar intake here is a tip- start having dark chocolate, one square a day, and slowly increase the cocoa content. Dark chocolate creates the same dopamine reaction as sugar without it's dangers. Our brain craves more sweet taste because it has associated the sweet taste of sugar to the dopamine rush. When you start having dark chocolate, you are retraining your brain to make that association to bitterness. Then your palette will change and you will be start finding too much sugar sickening, which will naturally lower your sugar intake.
Try cutting out packaged food like peanut butter, jams, white bread cornflakes, cornflakes, biscuits, cakes with tonnes of added sugar during this time. If you crave for them, eat some kind of nuts, seeds or fruit or eat a roti instead.
Edit: By dark chocolate I mean chocolate with 75% or more cocoa content, not anything that just look dark. It will be bitter and that's the point. The point is to retrain your brain to associate the rewarding feeling to bitterness and away from the sugary sweet taste. I'm not recommending dark chocolate as a sugar replacement, but as palate retraining
Thank you
Thanks

If you're addicted to sugar and find it difficult to give it up:
1. Never buy sugary stuff to stock at home, and definitely do not keep it in easy access (Resisting chocolates/sugary drinks everytime you see them when opening your fridge indeed requires superhuman mind self-control). That way you avoid convenient addictive consumption of it. Make yourself earn it the way nature meant it to be when you needed to climb a tree for a fruit.
2. Never order desserts at home (Swiggy/Zomato make it difficult by prominently recommending them), which too makes sugar consumption very convenient. If you need to step out every time, it'll automatically result in a higher barrier.
3. Keep a stock of fruits for when you feel craving of sugar. Not all fruits are expensive. Apples too have been marketed excessively. Guavas are tastier, cheaper and healthier.
4. Have tea/coffee only at fixed times, not everytime you feel like it. The more easily you have something, the lesser you enjoy it.
You don't have to give up consuming sweets, drinks and chocolates. You just have to make it about specific moments or when you go out, instead of making it your regular food intake.

Yes ...
if all you did was replace refined/white sugar with unrefined sugars like jaggery and continued to consume at similar quantities then you have accomplished nothing as far as health is concerned.
@@B-max. finally a sensible comment... most of the comments and the video to a great immplies that somehow gur and Khand are some miracle sugar substitutes..... Jaggery or gur, honey, khand, misri, everything is sugar and having excess of it is harmful....

I haven't consumed soft drinks in years. The only sugar I consume everyday is a tea spoon of sugar and try to replace it with Khandsari whenever possible.

The moment someone does a reality check with the amount of sugar that's been in American processed foods, you'd realize that every good looking ad is just funded by the sugar and it's depended foods industries. That will give you an idea of how much we just let it go just for the sake of one bite.

Diabetes isn't caused technically by sugar directly, your food habits and Common Indian rice diet is responsible, if you have your regular 3 large meals. Diabetic sugar in your blood is completely controllable if your regular diet has enough fibre, and you are not eating easily digestible Carbohydrate type food. Bdw, nice video for awareness.

I disagree with your RICE point. I belong to Costal region of Maharashtra and here rice been main part of diet for ages. It's main crop of the region. The point is if you eat what locally grown in your region you will be healthy. Rice is healthy for me but might not be for all.
