Cracked me up too. He then followed it with Lang's drumsticks being like a pair of horses' dicks. A friend was doing sound for a Lang drum workshop tour so I went along one night. He talked about his sticks being bigger than everybody else's. After the gig I went on stage to wind some cables and had a good look around his kit. The sticks were ridiculously fat.
I'm not even a drummer. That being said, I follow you for your chops, but also because I appreciate the message you spread to the youth. Thanks man, we all need the perspective at times.

I saw him in France during a clinic in 2004 : one hour straight solo, each minute more amazing than the last one. This man is a machine !
My 2 cents: it was probably 2010 or so, i was playing (guitar, thank god!) at Rimini Music Show, the Italian version of the NAMM show, so, basically, only musicians there... we were soundchecking on the main stage and something happened behind us, on the second drum kit.... the most incredible concentration of drum chops in 30 seconds... it was Thomas checking the drums because he had his show after our show... Pretty scary... ;-)

I actually disagree with that viewpoint. I see a lot of skilled people praising and overly complimenting others out of what seems to be audience appeasement. To me, it's unappealing, unless it's genuine (I think Estepario is one of the genuine ones). It's actually a breath of fresh air when I see somebody have a bit of ego and acknowledgement of their own skills nowadays, especially on the internet. There tends to be an unspoken narrative on a lot of these channels that you have come off extremely "humble" and "selfless" to be liked by your audience, even when it seems unfitting. Just be positive, have fair judgement and don't come off overlyimpressed for things that aren't actually so.

This is a great video. So glad you did this. Thomas and also “El Negro” with clave on his left foot and blowing over that ostinato really blew my mind as well growing up. I can totally relate to trying to find old like modern drummer performances on shady torrent type programs (limewire) back in the day before CZcams. I can totally relate. So good. I met Thomas at a NAMM show early 2000s. He was unknown. He was wearing jeans and a jean jacket and we stood together near a booth with a drum pad. He picked up some sticks and played a little. I knew instantly this guy had serious chops. It was that fast. I didnt think much about it later until I saw him showing up and up.
He was well known back in those days.
The thing I have always loved about Thomas Lang is that when he did a drum solo, it MADE YOU WANT TO DANCE!! Drum solos normally are all about technique and speed, and little or nothing to do with groove. With Thomas Lang, he manages to combine both technique AND groove. Fantastic.
I have never meet. Thomas🦁Lang , but have seen Dom Famularo & Thomas Pridge & Virgil Donati at Drumtek 1998. & In 2010 got have my drum stick side by Derek Roddy it was the Best day of my life. I very thankful I went in 2010 Drumtek Very much respect to all Drummers✌🏿😊...
One thing I always find funny about the old Thomas Lang videos is that he's playing traditional grip there. He now switched to matched grip and is just bad-ass.

I saw Thomas Lang at Montreal Drumfest about 15 years ago on an electronic drum sets and I remember the crowd around me weren't a fan of E-drum and boy did he flip the crowd in an instant, he had them all in his pocket.

La mayoría se centran en cantar las alabanzas del homenajeado pero tú vas más allá y explicas qué es lo que está ocurriendo y por qué. Now THAT'S how cymbals, snares and Toms are supposed to sound. Well mic'ed and mixed. Sounds like you're right there, live. The Yamaha EAD10 one piece mic doesn't pick up the cymbals too well. They sound muffled. These sound so clean and crisp.

Just started watching Mr. Siberiano's videos a few months ago and I'm impressed, not only by his playing but by the respect he's getting from other top drummers. I've been watching Nikki Glaspie too because of her skills but especially for her deep pocket. Once she grabs hold of the beat she's unwavering! Also, if El Estepario is reading this...have you ever watched Dylan Elise from New Zealand? Hes been kinda quiet lately after moving to the US but when he was busking on the street festivals years ago he was/is amazing.

Broke my shoulder in November last year didnt play for nearly a year as it took that long for the bone and tendons to heal its like im having to learn from scratch again.i should worked on my weak hand the left instead of sulking and depression it was these vids of yours that have helped me get me ting going again .great channel mate

The scariest drummer I've ever seen/heard is Pete Zeldman he was doing multiple pedal polyrhythms in the 80's and ones far more advanced (if you can believe it) than those being played by Lang, Doneti, or Minneman He's not very well known and died this year. RIP.

Thank you for touching on the topic of TL's courageousness of playing such a monstrous kit and playing what no one else is playing! makes me want to set up my monster kit and get back to my roots and slow down for no one, and just make a bunch of noise for the personal pleasure it brings me. I've been trying to take a practical approach to being a drummer, but I've been playing far too reserved the past ten years playing in bands as a result.

Anyone else noticing the Roland TD-20 Module lurking in the far right area of drum kit 🤔.... the silver panel gives it away. I wonder how many triggers were incorporated into this kit? This is definitely a spectacle to watch and the techniques are spot on.. Now I want to find a video of Mr Lang playing with a band... because without other instruments..drums are just the metronome . As a drummer I can admit this... how many of you are honest enough to admit this ? 🤔 El Siberiano Estapario amazes me with 1 stick playing while drinking his coffee playing a slipknot song... going on a journey now to find Thomas playing with other musicians..wish me luck !
