At last, an 80's slasher movie with the word 'final' in the title that was actually the final one!
And we can all see why it WAS the only one.
Can you look at a Shark Movie called Creature 1998🦈
Would you consider reviewing sleaze/ exploration crime flicks like Mrs. 45 or vice squad? Also, everyone has reviewed Andy sidaris' 80s movies, but his 70s films are way more insane, like his film "seven".
For the next godzilla review, do godzilla GMK or 1954
@@Kirstymarston Your comment has been flagged by Toho.
Oh you didn't! You reviewed my first film credit and now this. This screenplay won our film school's only horror screenwriting contest. Ronald (Alien) Shusett, brother of my boss, re-wrote the script. Gary then got Joe Roth together with Samuel Arkoff to get the thing made, hiring the future director of "The Fugitive" with Harrison Ford (Andrew Davis) to make his debut. It was a first for so many of the cast and the first slasher to suffer at the box office because it didn't have enough victims.
I actually met Joe Pantoliano last year at a con. I told him I was an indie filmmaker and gave me contact info in case I wanted him to be involved. Really cool
Or he's desperate for work. Great character actor.
That's pretty cool.
Hes played so many iconic characters
noice
@@mikes5637I don't know he maybe in b movies thees days but he's still recognized that he cameo rolls on shows
I love seeing Mark Metcalf in a horror movie. He ate in my restaurant a few years ago & could not have been any nicer to our staff.
Did he have the lobster 🦞
Just kidding, cool story. It's good to know "The Maestro" is still out there.
@@richardrobbins387Yeah..I'll sleep way better now. 🙄
@@flashinthepan3273
Yay!..gfy
Love him as 'the Maestro' in Seinfeld
Always be nice to people that are serving you food
"It's like if Bob Ross made a horror movie." Now I wanna see that! 😂
I like how he foreshadowed that he is going to do the trilogy of terror which is a pretty damn good movie even though most people only remember it for one part
And that part played into my hands well. After watching it with my younger brother, I went in my room and transformed a G.I.Joe into He-Who-Kills with some costume fur and other junk, then left it out on top of the TV for him to find in the morning. Worked exactly as planned.
He might double bluff us and do Trilogy of Terror 2.
@@AgentofLADON No. No.
Which part? The agreement, procession of dead or macabre Nightmare? You are talking about the 1968 Brazilian horror movie Trilogy of Terror right?
@@wwiiinplastic4712 Lysette Anthony > your objections
1:52 Tom Servo: "The Final Terror, a sequel to the Final Countdown in 3, 2, 1."
3:29 Crow: "Sir, Yes Sir. Sgt John Segall Sir."
3:45 Mike Nelson: "Well I heard they do great body work for billy zane."
7:40 Crow: "Look I was about attempt at a re-entry, no need to be a back stabber."
7:55 Tom Servo: "Hey I think I see the necronomicon in this house."
8:06 Mike Nelson: "Help! I'm being mauled by Ewok. Oh wait, never its Tom Selleck."
Well now we need a Bob Ross themed horror movie.
"And right there, we'll put a happy little axe murderer. Right at this tree line. Or whenever you want to put it. Maybe down at the dock. Maybe hiding in the cabin. Wherever you feel, there are no wrong places. Now let's get some bright red for the blood spatter."
"And I am just gonna use Blood Red #14, and mix in some Human Flesh #2, and just a tad of Titanium White."
I remember seeing ads for this film as a kid. The trailer was edited in such a way as to make you think the killer wasn't a standard psycho, but some moss-covered, furry, bigfoot/swamp monster thing. Even the poster alludes to them being attacked by something from outer space. Guess someone in marketing really wanted this to be a monster movie instead of a slasher.
The idea of a killer murdering and stalking a bunch of campers in the woods using a homemade ghillie suit is actually very interesting and sounds cool honestly. Also, please review Planet Terror after this, just to complete your trilogy of terror here lol
Hmm.... Mushroom Guy would actually make an interesting horror movie villain. Imagine: After his experience in the woods, he discovers that stalking and trapping in the woods gives him a thrill like no other. He starts by setting traps for animals, but finds that only humans can sate his newly-awakened bloodlust. So he starts preying on hikers and campers throughout the national forests, setting elaborate traps and living in the woods.
That'd be pretty cool story.
The Final Terror sounds like a Resident Evil style Final Fantasy Game series.
That might be kind of fun if done right.
Like if the characters with the most impractical, over-done outfits get whacked.
Check out a PS1 game called Koudelka.
The movie also starred Rachel Ward, who would go on to star in films like *"Against All Odds"* (the 1984 remake
of the '47 film noir: *"Out of the Past"),* *"CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS: The Discovery"* (5-time Bond film director John Glen's rival 1992 film to Ridley Scott's *"1492: Conquest of Paradise"*
- where she replaced Isabella Rosselini as Queen Isabella I), and the
2001 TV film *"Johnson County War"* with Tom Berenger, Michelle Forbes and
Burt Reynolds.
She was also the female lead in Steve Martin's "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid"- she's been in a bunch of flicks.
I thought that was her.
As well as Megan in the TV miniseries "The Thornbirds" and Domino in "Sharky's Machine". I always thought she was stunningly beautiful.
Agreed, The Fugitive isn’t really like the others as it is a really well made adaptation of an old tv series.
I also raise my hand for Adrian Zmed who not only was in Grease 2 but was Officer Vince Romano in T.J. Hooker with William Shatner for four seasons in the 80s.
Loved him in both especially Grease 2
Don't forget Bachelor Party with Tom Hanks. #hilarious
I am offended on behalf of Adrian Zmed. A million TJ Hooker and Dance Fever jokes unused. 😂😂😂😂
I'm surprised there was no mention of Lewis Smith, Buckaroo Banzai's Perfect Tommy and the greaser in The Heavenly Kid.
Jason Gedrick’s pre-Iron Eagle work. 🤣
I’ll give this movie props. It had the nerve to not only have a black character live but had two black characters and they both lived. Subverting expectations, especially for this time period.
Statistically speaking if people are getting murdered the perp would likely be black. 🤔
A pretty underrated 80s slasher. Andrew Davis is an underrated director.
Rachel Ward was an 80s staple... The Thornbirds, Sharky's Machine, Against All Odds. She became a household name after the Thornbirds miniseries, this came out later that year and if you look at the poster, her name is above eveyone else. Daryl Hannah became huge in 1984 with Splash (Bladerunner was a bomb at the boxoffice)... so she wasn't big name when this was released.
And she was in "Fortress", a 1985 thriller (schoolteacher and students in a cave against four kidnappers, one wearing a Santa mask).
And "Night School", a 1981 slasher flick (decapitated girls at a night school).
Those are definitely options for Brandon.
How did you Miss Lewis Smith, Perfect Tommy from Buckaroo Banzai? ;) Thanks for adding ANOTHER movie I need to see to my list. Love this channel. :)
"I'm the type of guy who hates camping." What the. Turn in your Canadian Badge.
You could also do the post-apocalyptic sci-fi horror movie The Terror Within (1989).
Yes, back to 80s slashers, thank you👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
The camouflage in this movie makes it my favorite of all slashers. The scene with the killer moving off the rock is amazing. I also like to think it could be a pseudo sequel to “The Prey”, even if it came out a year earlier.
Trilogy of Terror? Yes please! Love me the Karen Black.
I appreciate the killer rigging up a trap using can lids - the sharpest objects known to man.
Ooh! An underrated early 80s slasher that was released in the year that my mom was born in?
Count me in!
For Your Eyes Only (1981) OO7
Indiana Jones & the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Depeche Mode / Speak & Spell / 1981
This and Island of Terror rank very high on my nostalgia meter. I also rly like the soundtrack for this film. Thanks for covering it!
I heard Disney is gonna buy the rights, cut out the gore and rename it 'SPLASH2: IN2 The Woods'...may just be a rumor though. 😜
Oh great, another BLACK mermaid. Yeck
I recently watched this movie on Tubi! Every time I watch any 70s/80s horror movie, I hope you have a video on it, so thank you!
Tubi has such a wealth of great bad movies
@@Cincinnatijames And some good ones. I once found a Hammer Horror flick, "Doctor Jekyll and Sister Hyde", on there.
@@louisduarte8763 Tubi also has porn
Unless the movie takes place in Maine then the killer isn't Stephen King from Creepshow. Of course he could have wrote the movie and doesn't know it.
That's what happened with Dreamcatcher 😊
originally this was titled "3 blind mice" hence the singing in he bus scene. It has several different titles associated with it .
Not gonna lie, the biggest revelation for me was that the dad from "We're not gonna take it" music video was also the Master from season 1 of Buffy.
1:38 Someone finally made a horror movie death about my childhood fear of slicing my finger on Chef Boyardee lid!
They can never have too much weed, and also that one dude was in White Men Can't Jump.
I would honestly love if you actually did Trilogy of Terror lol
I'm hoping Brandon was serious when he asked if he should make this a "Trilogy of Terror".
But even if he does, he will need a 4th (and 5th, and 6th) movie for the trilogy.
Unfortunatelyhe already did "Terror of Mechagodzilla".
Maybe "Terror at Tenkiller", which is described as deadly... boring and poorly made.
@@mmattson8947 So boring that I have the Rifftrax version and can't remember any of it because it was so boring. Not even the riffs lifted it.
Damn, the cover fooled me into thinking this would have been a monster movie.
Interesting, does look different from a lot of traditional slasher movies from the 80's. The cast alone has me curious to check it out.
When I saw the screenshot I thought that people are gonna get killed by Bigfoot or some other type of monster
A Trilogy of Terror, that sounds promising.
But what could the third movie be? I vote for the Trollenberg Terror but will the "ayes" have it?
Nah, I vote for Terror In Beverly Hills! Now close those fuckin' doors!
Cindy Harrell was the girl with Metcalf in the sex pond. She was known more for modeling and was the girl in the Ray Parker Jr Ghostbuster music video.
Most of the people in this went on to do bigger and better things.
Yup, as soon as I saw her, I thought "Ghostbuster video!". She looked great in that.
Personally, I thought that grainy, Texas Chainsaw Massacre-style cinematography in this movie was fantastic; super aesthetic and eerie.
Trilogy of Terror fascinated and terrified me when I was a kid.
For weeks after I saw that I would look under the lampshades before turning on the light cause I thought the chop chop man was going to be there.😆
We had some really scary made for tv movies back then but I think it help make us the horror movie fans we all are today.
Damn. I had known of this as Andrew Davis' first film. Glad to finally see it - and through your lens. But damn - that kill taking out the killer was pretty crazy well shot!! You can see that even early Davis has some skills. 🙂
Thanks to you I've finally got to find it and watch it...
Or something. I gotta cut down on the pot...
The terror staring Boris Karloff lol
Amazing how one small insignificant movie can have so many notable people behind it
Thanks Brandon. I've been looking for this movie for a long time, just didn't remember the title, but I believe this is it. I actually saw it at the theater. Rock on!
Apparently no one hears your screams in the empty ass forest, no matter what time of day or night, unbelievable, slasher films have make no sense rules, thank you Brandon!!!🙏🤔👻❣️
I watched this a couple of years ago. Not bad. I found it refreshing that most of the characters were still alive at the end.
This was one of my favorite slasher films to discover. I found it at a dollar store bargin dvd bin as a double feature with Christmas Evil. Although it was titled Carnivore on the title card. The print was so dark you couldn’t tell what was happening but I loved the vibe and that shot of the killer coming out of the tree was perfect.
I didn’t realize that this film was directed by the guy who did the Fugitive. I literally saw this movie without knowing that.
Yeah, I don't see what the problem is from those bleeding hearts in the 1980s. The message was clear drugs alcohol and a potential loss of one's virginity equals painful, horrifying death.
A Brandon Tenold upload three days before my birthday? This is so far turning out to be a good week
13:18 brandon mentioning the sopranos
awesome
I LOVE this movie, it's one of my favorites!!
He's totally gonna do another movie with terror in it lol
Heh... Last time I saw an open screen like that, talking about the rebuilding from salvaged footage, I was watching my Kino Lorber cut of "Metropolis." Only source I really trust for films from that period.
Oh man, Brandon finally made references to The Sopranos and the best thing was that clip of the kitchen fight that made Dragon Ball tremble, it was incredible xd
I don't know how many referrals you made Brandon, I barely knew your channel a few weeks ago, but I'm still very happy with the old and new videos! And I look forward to your 10th anniversary!
This can’t be the final terror, because that terrifies me if it is.
The the branches, with can lids, kill, aged like SPAM.
Always like watching these. Now I have to wait so long for the next one,
I wonder if “The Burning” is up next, with Jason Alexander.
Can we please finally get a review on the greatest cult 80's creature feature of all time especially for this channel???? Obviously im speaking of *C.H.U.D.* (Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers) aka (Contamination Hazardous Urban Disposal) 👍 its a awesome & scary movie & actually was filmed in the actual 1980's sewers of New York City & actually has a bit of truth to it too !!!!! Yes Actual is my favorite word 👌
It is very interesting how many horror movie 'teens' have gone on to bigger roles if not super stardom
“He isn’t playing his usual creepy Italian asshole” Joe Pantoliano was born and raised in America, he’s American not Italian. I have Scottish ancestry but I grew up in England, so I’m English not Scottish
Great review and I especially admire your choice of shirts. Punch! Punch!! Punch!!!
1:42 Pretty impressive she managed to get hit by every single can lid. Did she jump into the air horizontally or something.
You could totally remake this one today. Military Vet snaps and starts taking it out on the campers, one by one. You could have some really gruesome traps.
You forgot the dude from TJ Hooker, Bachelor Party, and Grease 2! The guy who kept watch, first kill? Oh, psych. He came back
Adrian Zmed!!
Lewis Smith who played the main character in The Heavenly Kid also starred Mark Metcalf in 1985
Nice to see you posting more lol
Love your commentary.
Great movie as a drama, not so much as a horror lmao
Another fun one thank you!
Thank you good sir, your sarcasm is much appreciated.
It's amazing how many future stars started in horror🤯
This survival/slasher is underrated imo. Plenty of atmosphere, good cinematography, competent characters for 80s slasher standards, cool killer suit/weapon, and the rock theme is a bop!
As always, thank you for your contribution to cinema, youtube, and sarcasm!
A horror movie where most of them survived? Oh man, now that is something/amusing. It's a shame you aren't planning a movie named terror month, I was thinking you could review The Terror staring [a very young] Jack Nicholson & [a very old] Boris Karloff. But hey, I still enjoying & looking forward on more cult movie reviews none the less.
Hey !!! The taxi driver from Total Recall is in this movie also.
I could swear I also recognized Lewis Smith from "Southern comfort" (talk about masterpiece!) and the "North & South" TV series.
The thumbs up I gave was for your presentation of the video, NOT for the actual movie.
Please do Trilogy of Terror. That move scared the ever living sh&$ out of me when i was a kid. Way scarier than Childs Play.
You ain't lying! That little creepy doll was way more terrifying than Chucky!
I suddenly vaguely remember this film after seeing this scene at 1:40, just never knew what it was titled.
I can't believe you didn't mention Adrian Zmed from Dance Fever ! The biggest tv show ever!
Man, dudes from asshole fraternity in Animal House really liked going camping and killed by slashers.
Flounder played the killer in The Unseen.
As always great post and just a good watch 👍🇦🇺👏
2:38 I just realised who that guy is! That's Perfect Tommy!
I think this was the first slasher horror movie I ever saw. And probably the first one before Scream to show that there can be more than one killer in such a movie.
Wow, it's Joey Pants from Robot in the Family.
Sweet Jet Jaguar Tshirt!!
Great video dude! You also forgot to mention Lewis Black, who would later star in Buckaroo Banzai.
Curly haired guy singing in that high pitch voice has also been in other stuff. I recognize his face, just don't know his name.
Apparently he's Adrian Zmed. Ah yeah, I remember now, he was the leader of the T-Birds in Grease 2.
Nice Risky Business reference. For those who are too young to know, "F*ck It" was motto of Joel's buddy in the movie.
This horror movie should be made again but way better! As a pure perfection of greatness horror movie! Also more Gory kill scenes! My great information for today. Have a great fabulous wonderful day.
I watched this one the other night when I saw you were doing it and yeah I thought it was a pretty mid slasher but did have some cool nature shots and locations
That black dude in the movie was Benny in 'Total Recall'. ...
"SCREW YOU BENNYYY!!!!!"
Saw this on cable in 83 or 84 and I loved the group survival bit. The final girl while not named at that time to my knowledge was already becoming predictable.
Can you so some Tor Johnson films? "The Beast of Yucca Flats" was one of his films and it was hilariously bad. Tor Johnson was a 300 pound Swedish wrestler turned grade Z horror actor. In real life he was a great guy he often had sherbet parties at his house for all the neighborhood kids who were his fans. He was also in "Plan 9 From Outer Space".
Nice 👍
Good review
I remember watching this on cable like 40 years ago.
