Whoever designed the bigfoot for this movie really did a good job; the bigfoot is unnerving to look at because it is almost in the 'uncanny valley' range. It looks vaguely familar humanwise but there are enough differences to throw you off and make you a little uncomfortable.
I think thats why this bigfoot scared me so much as a kid and has remained in my memory for years.
I would say it is the teeth and how he dislocate his jaw. Instead of just being "another ape", he really feel like a monster
I'm 35, saw this movie when I was 17 or something on Scifi, it STILL freaks me out.
It definitely hits that uncanny valley.
Yeah, it looks more like a giant deformed caveman rather than a bipedal gorilla, which makes it more creepy and more scientific.
Looks like a Bigfoot with with down syndrome and dwarfism.
@@Noperare The teeth could have been better, there were to many for that mouth. I was hoping teeth that were more like the Genoskwa has, and throw in some super long and pointy fingernails. That would make it more frightening.
Jeffrey Combs is so underrated it's mind boggling.
Horror fans all know him best as "The Re-animator".
The protagonist has lots of lower body issues...
He's paralyzed in this movie and gets bitten in half in Deep Star Six.

It's important to remember: "Cult" isn't necessarily synonymous with "Bad", and this movie is a perfect example of that!

Bear in mind, Brandon is reviewing the enhanced Blu-Ray version. The creature's eyes were CGI'ed over, probably to make it more alive. Though personally, I prefer the original with the obvious plastic eyes. Makes it more creepy.
I'll be honest this one has surprised me, the 'yeti' didn't look all that bad, I really liked the bizarre large mouth and teeth. I was surprised Otis came back and actually helped and died a very horrific death, like genuinely that made me go 'ewww'. Seems like one of the better SyFy movies overall!
Dog Soldiers premiered on Scifi. Neither of these were made by scifi or Asylum like most of the trash on that channel these days so thats the difference.
I've had friends with super strict religious parents who didn't restrict their kids as much as CZcams restricts everything.

There was an unmade monster film
from Universal Pictures called *"Abominable"* back in the mid-1990s.
It was written by Troy Neighbors & Steven Fienberg, with Moshe Diamant as the producer, either Peter Hyams
or Renny Harlin as the director, and Jean Claude Van Damme was to star in the lead role.
The story was set in Tibet, where
a U.N. task force investigates the mysterious disappearance of Red
Cross workers in the Himalayas
before Van Damme's character
eventually goes face-to-face with the monstrous Abominable Snowman.
Really? I am very sad we never got that movie then. That's up there with the planned At the Mountains of Madness adaptation we never got, which was going to star Tom Cruise. but the studio's condition was it be PG-13 which is preposterous.
Kinda sounds like the reverse situation with Van Damme in the original cut of Predator

I mean, just look at the infamous
2005 werewolf film by horror legend Wes Craven: *"CURSED"!*
That was supposed to a R-rated werewolf film. But the Weinsteins not only ordered a rework on the film while they were 90% done with the original cut (all that was missing were the CGI, film score, and the ending which was set in
a wax museum) before replacing most of the original cast and Rick Baker's werewolf effects with a new cast & new effects by KNB EFX; but they also ordered for a new ending (despite the ending they did filmed got a positive reception with test screenings) and then had the more uncut version of the film re-edited in post-production, replacing a lot of KNB's practical FXs with CGI and trim the violence & gore to go for a PG-13 rating.
Van Damme fighting yeti, that would've been great, and Steven Seagal could've played the Yeti , afterall he's about the same size , definitely as heavy!!!!👍😀

The "can't report someone missing for 48 hours" is a myth, but a convenient one for horror and crime movies.
Definetly..also the police never believes them at first, the power has to go out at some point, and of course cell phones are rendered useless by being in an area with bad/no reception😅😅😅
I like the gigantic mouth they gave the yeti, really gives this monster a unique look.
Just think how easy it could win the Nathan hotdog contest.😋

Looking at the cast list for this film, it would seem the person in charge of casting clearly had a very detailed blackmail list.
It makes you wonder just how much of the actual budget went to paying for all these guest-starring roles! Lance Henriksen, Jeffrey Combs, Dee Wallace Stone, Etc. Lol!

I'm sitting here with it paused at 11:35 absolutely flabbergasted. The man playing the biologist is Australian jazz legend James Morrison. A distinction so obscure that most Aussies can be forgiven for not knowing who he is. He has been a presenter (Aussie top gear), music shows, etc. This is the first time I have ever seen him in a movie, let alone a yeti-core video nasty! So cool.

As far as bigfoot horror movies go,this is one of the best.
About 20 years ago, I was hiking up in the Adirondacks, in the woods. I heard a strange sound and quietly sneaked into this clearing. That's where bigfoot saw me. To this day, no one believes him.
Okay. That was a good one.
Same with the Jersey Devil. No one wants to believe he saw the horrifying creature called 'Alondro'.

PSA: you don’t have to wait any period of time to report a missing person, movies just made that up to explain not getting the cops involved
Cops still use the excuse because they're lazy. Just keep demanding to speak to the person in charge of missing persons cases.
you can report them but if they're an adult ( and not of advanced age) the police usually will not do anything until they have been missing longer than a couple hours. Unless you have credible proof/info that they were taken or something like that. Different story if it's a child.
He might not have been a Sasquatch, Yeti seemed to turn out just fine!
Since gamera rebirth is on netflix, you should do the trilogy of actual good films he was in. I mean, seriously at the end of your original gamera month You told us about the trilogy of gamera films that were actually not only good, but some of the best Monster movies ever, so you owe it to us the fans to make a video about those 3 movies.

There’s a lot of Bigfoot-esque creatures roaming around the world.
There’s Bigfoot himself, the Yeti, Hibagon, Yowie, Orang Pendek, the list goes on.
I see a lot of people saying this movie scared them when they were kids. This movie came out when I was 30. I didn't realize I was that old. Darn it. It's a good movie though. I love the creature design. It's so different. More evil troll or inbred mountain man/beast than a classical yeti/bigfoot design. The way the jaw opens up real wide like a Thylacine and those huge needle like teeth. Pretty cool.

You can't typecast Paul Gleason. He was in a lot more than just The Breakfast Club. With 152 credits on IMDb, he was in all genres of movies and television. Paul's big screen highlights include Trading Places and a little indie project, Die Hard. His television roles are too long and varied to attempt to list. Did he often play cops or deans? Yes, but there were also priests, doctors and even abusive parents.
On a personal note, my mom went to high school with Paul. She remembered him as a good-natured prankster. She got a kick whenever we found another one of his roles to watch. When she encountered him years later at reunions, he was as jovial as ever.
Matt McCoy has lots of credits to his name too. He’s been in horror movies a lot and also was in Seinfeld!
I remember when I was in the Army and my friend flash his flash light out in the woods and we saw a bunch of glowing eyes but of course they were raccoons🦝🦝🦝

You forgot that Lalo Schiflin also did the score for "Cool Hand Luke", "THX 1138" (George Lucas' first film), the "Rush Hour" films, and, of course, all but one of the "Dirty Harry" movies.
Had fond memories of this movie. Glad to see a lot of people remember it.

Also the vice principal from the Breakfast Club was also in Seinfeld, he's the one that interviewed George at the Yankees. Apparently they recruited for this movie amongst Seinfeld alums.

I remember watching this movie late one night. I remember the scene where the Sasquatch smashed the Asian girl's guts out of her behind.
Me and my mom had a blast watching this on the SciFi channel years ago. Also Frankenfish is a fun movie too, it's shown briefly when talking about schlocky movies that sci-fi used to show
some of their cGI-fest movies... actually use the CGI in ways that would otherwise need Ray Harryhausen grade miniatures to pull off. So I can't really fault them for that... oh and Sharknado.... THAT needs the CGI to work.
Having an actual budget makes a big difference with a film like this. Like the difference between a pretty good looking big foot/yeti whatever and a guy named Larry running around in a bathroom rug. Good job Brandon.

Lance Henriksen has a resemblance to Joe Kubert’s Tarzan illustrations, and has played Kerchak (the gorilla variant, not the canonical mangani counterpart) in Disney’s Tarzan.
Jeffery Combs is such an amazing actor that he can deliver the most ridiculous unnatural sounding lines and make them sound like Shakespeare!

I liked it. I watch alot of Monster lore. And I like how they address The yeti are the most aggressive of the sasquatch relatives. It look they they migrated across and killed the big foots in that area.
tell that to the TN wildman version of Sasquatch. Those things are supposed to be pure evil with red eyes that delight in killing dogs.
10/10 review. Flawed but I remember liking it well enough. I like how bizarre and surreal this Bigfoot/Yeti is with his jaw dislocating like a snake's. Who would have guessed. And I bet Lance Henriksen believes in Bigfoot that's why he's in so many of them. He's a smart dude he knows Bigfoots are real and he's trying to spread awareness. BTW, the main character's actor he was Lloyd Braun on Seinfeld. so there's at least two Seinfeld dudes in this.

The face biting scene has got to be one of the greatest things ever put on film.
There were two recurring Seinfeld characters in this movie. The actor playing Preston (Matt McCoy) was George’s childhood rival Lloyd Braun and the actor playing one of the deputies (Phil Morris) was Kramer’s lawyer Jackie Chiles 😂
I remember stumbling upon this watching syfy when i was a kid, fully expecting the normal cheesey stuff that'd air. 20 years later and i still hate the woods because all i can picture is gettinf my face literally eaten off. Glad to see one of ny favorite creators check it out, hopefully more people will watch it and love it too

Brandon, you know damn well there ismno such thing as a gratuitous shawer scene. All shower scenes are absolutely vital to the story of every movie you see them in. If anything, there needs to be 4x as many shower scenes per movie.

It was easily the least of the three animated Yeti movies. It was safe, plagiarized, Chinese tourism commercial that I STILL want my money and 90 minutes back for seeing. Small Foot and Missing Link ALL THE WAY!
And the farmer from the beginning is Rex Linn! This cast is crazy cameo city!
The sound when the dog gets killed sounds like the sound wolves and wargs do when they attack in world of warcraft.
Been ages since I saw this movie. Saw it for the first time on the Sci-Fi channel, (back when the movies were half-way decent, and NOT all made by the Asylum), and I thought it was pretty good for a made for TV movie. It's still decent even after all this time.
This was my favorite Bigfoot movie ever since I was a kid plus it came the year I was born 2006
I guess up in the mountains, the Yeti went to electrical school and learnt how to switch off the power before his kills
This movie was a lot of fun and I liked the design of the Bigfoot, and the twist ending was great. But what was up with the awful under lighting towards the end.

Hey Brandon, didn't you notice Rex Linn of "Cliffhanger" and CSI: Miami" fame and "Cuthhroat Island" infamy? And the late great Paul Gleason (he died the year this movie was released, 2006) was also in "Die hard" and "Trading places", just to name his most notable non-school related roles - sure you're very familiar with both of those.
This being said: YOU ROCK!
He also made a wrongful claim stating that Paul Gleason was in Revenge of the Nerds IV, he wasn't, that was actually James Gleason instead. Should've gone with Die Hard or his multiple appearances on The A-Team instead.

I think a more realistic Bigfoot horror movie would be a gentle Bigfoot family having to fight off sadistic human hunters.

Takes place in what looks like North America... in a place called Flatwoods, as in, The Flatwoods Monster. Which wasn't a Sasquatch or a Yeti.

Funny how that plays out. Took me years to dare watching "The Thing" on a premium channel. Now, I can wake at 2 in the morning, watch the film; fall back to sleep with nary a dream.
To mention a really deep cut cameo: Dr Seussmeyer, the guy on the web video is James Morrison, an Australian Jazz Trumpet legend! Also co-wrote the movie!
The ending scene of this movie is like if the ending of Harry and the Hendersons film was a horror.
This is like a collaboration between George Romero (Monkey Shines) and Alfred Hitchcock (Rear Window)
I remember watching this when I was a older teen on the scifi channel back in the day and being surprised at how good it was. It's honestly one of if not their best film and really goes to show how putting a decent amount of effort into a lower budget film can go a long way. (Edit: I genuinely felt bad for the poor girls and the one in the shower was a real hottie)

Paul Gleason (THE BREAKFAST CLUB) was also in DOC SAVAGE THE MAN OF BRONZE (as "Long Tom"). The black cop was Phil Morris, son of Greg Morris, and starred in the 80s revival of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, playing Barney Collier's son "Grant Collier".
This opening reminds me of "Silent Rage", featuring Chuck Norris.
The first scene flows from the credits into like a 4 minute scene taken in a single take. Showing you a lot about the killer.
Then the first cut is on Chuck and the movie goes RiffTrax material from there.

I remember one Saturday when my brother was watching this movie on Syfy. At one point, her said to me "That guy looks a lot like Lance Henriksen!" I had to point that was.
Film is pretty solid, always a good late night watch if it was on tv. The creature was unnerving, loved the lack of CGI and the pulled through the window and face bitten off kills were great!
Would love to see you tackle another late night sci-fi channel monster-in-the-woods classic, It Waits!

I remember seeing this back on Syfy back when it was still known as the "Sci-Fi Channel" back in 2006. Definitely one of the better, if not the best Sci-Fi Channel original movies.
