Another great Freddie and John song. Freddie so loved his fans. They wanted to edit out the fans singing and Freddie wouldn't hear of it. Look at the guys faces, they were all enjoying the moment. My best friend is from 50 yrs ago. We don't see each other often but we are there for each other when needed

Friends Will Be Friends” was written jointly by Freddie Mercury and bassist John Deacon, with lyrics written by Freddie and the music by Deacy. Freddie and John had a close friendship that was more like a big brother and a little brother. When John first joined Queen he was only 19 years old. Whereas Freddie, Brian, and Roger had been friends for years and were already in their early 20s when they formed the group Queen in 1970, over a year before John joined. Freddie immediately took John under his wing and began mentoring him. It was Freddie that encouraged John to begin writing songs and it was Freddie who helped John deal with the pressures of being a rockstar.
The video features the band performing the song in front of Queen fan club members. During the show, Freddie “high-fives” audience members, and at the end cuts the mic and sings along with them, letting them lead. Because of this, this performance was nicknamed “Queen’s Greatest Show Never Performed”.
Written by John and Freddie, and with a fan invited audience taking part, one of the only groups who invite fans too take part in the videos and live concerts

It's very rare to have lots of solid or true friends. We have different friends for different reasons. We now live in a much faster moving society than we did when Freddie sung this.

You are so right. A true friend tells you the truth even if it hurts. A true friend cares enough about you to risk that friendship by facing up to you and stopping you from making bad decisions. They will stand by you and support you if things go wrong in your life. Today people call followers friends. By followers I mean those that flatter you and agree with you but then dump you the minute it's no longer fashionable to be your friend.
