I was on our trout trip in northern NY last week and we had success with this technique in 39* water at 30' depth. Only difference was a 3/4oz rigging live. We used bow mount in lower wind and engine in high winds in and out of gear to hold a steady crawl and both lake trout and smallmouth would move a great distance even in that temp. Great way to cover cold clear water we must have caught fifty in a long weekend!
Good stuff i troll in 10-20 ft water on Otsego lake ny mostly... have good success slow troll for big smallies, perch, walleyes, largies dont like the troll as much as smallies for me
