    This is the first video I've seen where someone explains how the release actually works and how to properly adjust it. Thank you.

    Excellent description on downriggers and the Chamberlain releases. I just learned of these releases and they are the best but I had tangles when I mounted them above the cannon ball so I tried above the snubber as you suggested and much better. I need to try the stacker next. Thanks for another excellent video - keep up the great work.

    Thanks for the heads up on the Chamberlains. I just ordered 2 and a stacker for Australian delivery! I haven't used a downrigger for years, I've been fly fishing - but I have some locally made ones on the new boat.

    Well done , I. ran a pair of electric Scottys off the back of my 18 ft Lund . Many similarities to your setup . My friend ran a pair of Big Jon downriggers . If I were to do another setup, I would go Big Jon , electric. Thx for your excellent video . Good luck this year .

    Thank you for the video, it is very informative! Question as far as the double-stack release clip... I too have switched my downrigger from wire to 200lb braided line. Does the double-stack release clip slide on the braided line, or does it stay where you put it? I'll be fishing Salmon on Lake Michigan in

  • @robertdeleo3842
    @robertdeleo3842 Před 6 měsíci

    Great video...thanks. I am curious about the rope accessory you have to pull the DR line toward you when attaching the line to the clip. That accessory and the attached rope lowers into water as you drop your DR cable as well? Where did you get it?

    • @mainetroutwhisperer
      @mainetroutwhisperer  Před 6 měsíci

      No it doesn’t.. it might thouch the water a bit but it has a roller on the end that the cable goes through so it stays above water. Its linked in the description of video :)

    Chris - I’m running MAG5’s with stainless but fully agree with the bad harmonic annoying noise you mention. What weight Dacron are you using & how much did you end up spooling?

    • @mainetroutwhisperer
      @mainetroutwhisperer  Před rokem +1

      I can’t remember what lb test I got, but it was 150-200lb I’m guessing. I linked the stuff in the description and I used the whole box.

  • @joshstaples9892
    @joshstaples9892 Před rokem

    What style line terminator are you using? I switched over to the Dacron in the spring and used the Cannon line terminator and it managed to slide off the Dacron and I lost my whole setup to the bottom. Didn’t know if they made a specific terminator for Dacron.

    • @mainetroutwhisperer
      @mainetroutwhisperer  Před rokem +1

      I got rid of it and tied directly to the swivel. The rubber stop thing slides over the knot and protects it.
