      I use a printer if needing dark to light or print in black and white really helps. Then use a reducing glass( revers e magnifier) bright colors pop etc you wil get a gradient keep at it till happy.

    I would think lace would show up well in linen since it has good stitch definition. I have a 70% wool 30/ linen yarn that I'm swatching and I plan to swatch some lace because the stitch definition where I made my needle size eyelets is good. I was going to do a short row gussets for an a-line side ways knit top (no pattern. Inspired by a dress I saw for a drops pattern) with it but I may change my mind.

I appreciate all your clarifications about your adjustments. I’m not getting gauge … I’m using J&S yarn and went down to 2.75mm needles and still getting 24 sts/ 10 cm and I think I’m knitting the 1 st size to get a final measurement of size 2… thanks to you now I have to pay attention to the row gauge as well for the sleeves. I just found you. I like the level of detail you provide. I'm interested in learning to improve my color work skills. Color pairings are something I enjoy and don't really struggle finding something interesting. However, I need to learn efficiency with knitting color work. I use two hands, and end up with a change in gauge and some uneven areas within the color work. I did make some mistake with color dominance, but figured that one out. Thank you for speaking effectively about the projects you are working on.

    • @melmakesstuff
      @melmakesstuff  Před rokem

      Thanks for your comment! For two-handed colorwork the gauge thing does take a little while to settle - I knit colorwork that way too though, can’t quite get the hang of both yarns on one finger. One thing that helped me at the beginning was knitting with the work inside out, do you know what I’m talking about? If not, let me know and I’ll show it on my next regular episode.

      Wow, what a compliment - thank you! I didn’t like swatching for many years, but lately I’m really enjoying it. Maybe having a bunch of already-existing projects going is key, that way I don’t feel like I have to rush through the swatch 🥰
