    I’m rewatching your episodes. I find them intensely informative. I have been knitting a lot of years and love the way that you share your thought process. I hope that this isn’t your last episode. I’m looking forward to seeing your “Japanese” episode. Thank you so very much for all of the time and energy that goes into to your vlog. Hi Mel,
    Thankyou for yet another great vid, you make me feel more normal with some of the techniques you revealed which you do, that I do too, and as always I learned many new things. Your sock technique almost has me tempted to try socks again, they really arent my favourite but your way of knitting them looks right up my alley.....thank you for sharing your pattern, I'll have a squiz.
    Cant wait to check out your next Japanese installment, take care til then.

    I love the Jared Flood jumper and the cardigan, both look really cool on you. I also like the colour choices on the Bohus style yoke. My favourite is the wrap. The colour is stunning on you. Seed stitch blanket is a winner and the socks are cute. Mitres are great, love the geometric design for the decreases. Summer is not the time to work on heavy stranded knitting although I can see it will look good when it’s done. Congratulations on all those completions!

    Another great episode. Love the buttons. When ripping back rows, rather than messing around with picking up loose stitches, I find it’s quicker to locate the row I want to start from and, using a circular needle several sizes smaller, pick up the right leg of each stitch in the first half of the row and continue with a second needle for the remaining half. Planning to try your method of using a US0 needle to start the toe.

And I think it’s so funny that you talk about how short your arms are- It was pointed out to me (when I was in 5th grade) that my arms are longer than my height- like a gorilla. Teasing ensued, but that’s a story for a different time. And my arms are still pretty long.
    I tend to push up my sleeves all the time on my store bought sweaters because of that 😆

    Mel that charcoal sweater towards the end, you could take back the ribbing to where you picked up the stitches and do some short rows in the rib, along with a few decreases on the second row (row after knitting). Hopefully you get lots of wear from it as it's a lovely yarn and pattern!

      @@melmakesstuff hey again with a quick reply: what i think a lot of people miss when looking at T'ville on rav, is that it is actually a cardi worn with the buttons up the back! check out the bottom hem in the main photo - the pattern is written for both cardi and jumper. i'm doing the jumper and am using her original colors b/c that's what initially caught my eye - it's breath taking, if i do say so meself! cheers!

    Now I kinda want to make that seed stitch blanket, too, haha. As for the next bohus, Lunenberg and Woods from the Japanese book maybe? ;) I have to say, I tried Wild Apple from Poems of Color but it is so broken, none of the stitch counts correspond to the chart, it's just bad. If I ever try it again, I will have to rechart it completely by looking at extant garments with my own stitch counts. I just finished Woods body, modified to be top-down (move purls one row up for the same effect), out of pure alpaca yarn (the fluffy lace kind from Holst, held double), and it gives angora vibes big time. Will see how it holds up when I actually wear it as it might grow way too much.

      Awww thank you Nadia ❤️ Wild Apple was the first Bohus I was attracted to many years ago (I think saw it on the Yarn Harlot blog) - that’s one pattern I might be tempted to buy the kit and original pattern for. I do really love that Lunenberg pattern too!

    I'm intrigued to know what you think of the Linya pattern. I am knitting it now but I am not convinced, esp given that the pattern is averse to being memorized (at least by me). I'm not sure if there would have been a better way to present it, so that one isn't chained to the written instruction. I'm pretty sure I'm going to rip mine back too, just cuz I'm not enjoying the process (though I do think the end result is very elegant).

    • @melmakesstuff
      @melmakesstuff  Před rokem +1

      I also had a hard time memorizing it! Agreed, I did feel chained to the pattern and didn’t love that aspect. I think I’ll probably restart it at some point because I really want the shawl, but it might end up being more of a product knit than a process knit.

    Beautiful projects. Did you follow a pattern for the marled blanket? I thought you mentioned a name but don’t see it in your show notes?

    You are amazing. And you did not say “like” every other word. You used it only as the word was intended. The miss use of this word is a deal breaker as to whether I will subscribe to a podcast. I learned a lot from your presentation.

    Always love your videos. I also prefer toe up sock knitting but I’m wondering what toe up heel flap and gusset pattern you use?

    I’m curious what your sleeveless sweater is that you’re wearing in the beginning of the video. It’s really pretty - if you can recommend the pattern that would be great.

      There’s no hole… maybe it’s a filled doughnut though!
