I was there. It was truly an amazing experience. I knew of Prince at the time, but only by name and never really knew his music. But that performance was just so surreal and amazing. In the pouring down rain. My cell phone died that night from getting soaked. It was worth it though.
My girlfriend had never really been into prince. When she heard purple rain the first thing she said was "he'll never hit that high note live" almost 40 years after releasing it he can still absolutely smash this song out of the park. Unbelievable!

At 3:07 Prince let’s out a burst of emotion as if he was feeling the crowd cheering him on - he was feeling the emotion of that moment as much as we were feeling him in that. So glad I was able to see him live in 1997. What a magnificent legend and human being.
This performance is like an ode and finale to his life, his music. He was a gift to us. In the end, we had to give him back. If you feel nothing when you hear and see this, then I don’t envy you.
My God was he special. People like him and Freddie Mercury are just on an entirely different level than almost everyone else. And you realize it within 5 seconds of beginning to hear them perform.
"can I play this guitar?" 1:13 he really asked that the guys at the sound mixers, because he feared an electric shock because of all the water coming from the rain. My aunt worked backstage and always told the story xD

Prince FOREVER The Best 🔥🔥🔥
I watch this live performance at least 2 times a day
Still can’t believe he is dead, guitar hero and inspiration.
No lip syncing, no crowd noise pumped over the PA, one word Legendary
This was a man who was touched by God!
There’s a little moment at 3:07 where you can really see what it meant to him. The acting dropped for a moment and he realized what a moment it was. Incredible.
asbsolutely right
That timemark almost makes me burst into tears. 😢
The fact that it rained during this made this the perfect halftime show.
Bravo
Have jou Seen this Concert?????
I never appreciated this singer until after his death. Now this is by far one of my favorite songs
Go back and listen to early work. Dirty Mind and Controversy.
Hands down the Best Super Bowl Performance, Purple Rain ☔️ whilst Raining ‘Magical’.
Honestly I don’t know how the game continued after a performance like this, whoever was winning at half term, You Win..! 🏆 This was the Closing Ceremony..!
R.I.P Prince (Legend Status) 👑
Hope the people that got to experience this in person realize what a once in a life time opportunity they were blessed with.
this Guitar 🎸 brought tears to my eyes
Still ♥️
That gave me chills fr
Only GOD can make an Artist so gifted
Prince Rogers Nelson was, is, and forevermore will be, the *Greatest Musician Of All Time* On This Godforsaken Planet Earth.
Rick James was better. Prince is still good though
@@bdove2007 really!? 😂
Can someone tell me how this does not have millions of views? EPIC
True legend.
Mirage Music the first one that was up had millions but got deleted :(
NFL channel has it with over 21 mil views
Mundo Productions im super high, The whole time watching i was wondering the same thing
Mundo Productions -cause the original is here➡czcams.com/video/7NN3gsSf-Ys/video.html
Mundo Productions yes MTV has conditioned the multitudes
I'm sorry, but I ball every time I see this. What a send off!.. He played this live better than any four cornered studio could ever have recorded it and left one of the best live performances in history.. Prince and Freddy are the greatest male musicians ever..
I agree:)
Best...halftime...show...
EVER!!! Epic! ☔️
🎯🎯
I was there. It was truly an amazing experience. I knew of Prince at the time, but only by name and never really knew his music. But that performance was just so surreal and amazing. In the pouring down rain. My cell phone died that night from getting soaked. It was worth it though.
This is a straight up spiritual experience
couldnt have said it better
My girlfriend had never really been into prince. When she heard purple rain the first thing she said was "he'll never hit that high note live" almost 40 years after releasing it he can still absolutely smash this song out of the park. Unbelievable!
david barnard Your girlfriend is a bitch.
at the end? the falsetto note?
D_E_A_D_M_A_U_5 bro I said the same thing
Dump her
@@matthewprice756 I'm sayin
I’m literally in tears
There will never be another Super Bowl moment more iconic than this. The moment he started shredding that guitar, it showcased a vision of magic, color, bliss and pure passion…while it was pouring rain. This is the greatest superbowl halftime show forever and ever and ever.
RIP GOAT
🐐 🕊️🪽🎸💜🔥🔥🔥
When he grabbed the guitar you had to just close your eyes and feel that moment. Amazing. We will never have an artist like him again.
🎯🎯
2:00 That smile he did, means he is contented. Beautiful.
I saw the same thing - when he heard their response there he knew he truly won over the crowd full of of football fans at the Super Bowl and had the stadium in the palm of his hands. Gotta be a hell of a feeling
At 3:07 Prince let’s out a burst of emotion as if he was feeling the crowd cheering him on - he was feeling the emotion of that moment as much as we were feeling him in that. So glad I was able to see him live in 1997. What a magnificent legend and human being.
Who else got chills when he started to play that guitar 🎸? 😢
This performance is like an ode and finale to his life, his music.
He was a gift to us. In the end, we had to give him back.
If you feel nothing when you hear and see this, then I don’t envy you.
I mean he conducted this performance literally like 10 years before he died, but ok I guess...
@@dildonius “this performance is like…”
It’s a simile, fam, a metaphor. Nobody said the man stepped off stage and died.” 🙄🙄😂😂
Back when halftime shows had actual talent! RIP Prince!
My God was he special. People like him and Freddie Mercury are just on an entirely different level than almost everyone else. And you realize it within 5 seconds of beginning to
hear them perform.
Weird that you like Prince and Freddie, considering your racist username.
That part when the crowd is harmonizing in unison gave me chills. Beautiful 🤩
Im crying, we still love you prince🎸🙏🏻
"can I play this guitar?" 1:13 he really asked that the guys at the sound mixers, because he feared an electric shock because of all the water coming from the rain. My aunt worked backstage and always told the story xD
You see moments in time that will last forever.
Woodstock, Live Aid,
And Prince doing the impossible, making an entire country forget about a football game and truly feel the music.
R.I.P. LEGEND ❤❤
1958-2016. R.I.P. Prince
Prince, this man is a legend and heavily influenced the music industry. Rest In Peace.
Prince didn't like the music industry.
Jonathan Emprendedor yea the music industry is evil
