Prince because my favorite artist of all time from the first moment I heard his music back in 1980. While I believe he was a good guitarist at first who became great, I don’t think he is the greatest ever. Saying who that really is, is a tough thing to begin with. I think he deserves to be in the conversation again because of how great I think he became over the years.

My best concert memories were all before smart phones came out. Side note, I also worked as a medic at a major live concert venue so I've been at a TON of concerts / music festivals.

Today is 03/16/24. Almost 40 years to the day of this performance. I remember it like it was yesterday, I was 10 years old. My sister won tickets to this show on the radio and she chose me to go with her. It was pure magic. There was so much love and emotion in that stadium it was absolutely amazing. There were no wars, no fights, no bickering or arguing amongst anyone, nothing but love... No other artist brought so many people of so many different cultures together like Prince did... You will forever be missed Prince Rogers Nelson

Ran into a couple girls i knew from Fort Plain NY and escorted them right up front for a few moments as they wer in tears and shaking ! Great Memories . I asked him if he needed a glass of water, but he declined. He said, that he just wanted a break, carrying his grocery bag home. I asked if I could help him and he was a bit hesitant at first, but gave in. When we walked, he told me, that he was 93 years old. He's doing all the house chores, he has a small garden that are kept pristine. Buying groceries are hard for him because he has to carry things home, so I plan on buying him a grocery caddy. Age is just a number, not a state of mind ❤

As a Musician I love metal and all the music forms and I especially enjoy listening and playing with metal heads. I also love drinking and smoking with yall in convo where alot of you say things like what you stated. Because I always wonder what fan of a certain subgenre will think of "this" or "that". In this case, what a metal fan thinks of Prince. As far as musicianship goes, Prince is an above average standard. Alot of us can play more than 1 instrument but to do it on the level of Prince......even RARER.

Once I start I can't stop listening to it again & again. So touched by this version I'm crying inside... It's truly a work of art.💜 All the parts - the notes, instruments, voices, lyrics, tempo... both planned & improv - they just blend harmoniously into a masterpiece. Conveys both heartbreaking anguish & beautiful hope & love. He seems mentally exhausted yet free as if he belts out the notes in release. Even the guitar is weeping by the end. Prince could make his guitar tell the story as much as the lyrics & his tone of voice. He probably wrote it that way... DAYumm, beautiful!!!😭💜❤️

You almost get his emotions more from the guitar then his singing when someone with real truly great talent and love for his craft pours their heart into their work you feel it. Lots of current music isn't like that unfortunately and Prince was a big fighter for the artist to be heard not the record company executives

My father was a huge huge prince fan , and from such a young age I remember him playing this song on the guitar over and over until he could perfect it , so it would sound just like Prince. He never thought he was as good him, and maybe I’m a little biased but I thought it sounded exactly like Prince. My dad passed 2 years ago and listening to this just made me feel like he was in the room here with me , playing his guitar. Music has such power and Prince will live on forever through his music!!I have my dad to thank for showing me such a musical genius! RIP ,to who in my book, are two great legends! Love you dad ❤️

When music was art and the people accepted nothing less
music has and will always be a form of artistic expression. all perception of art is subjective. i arrived at Prince's performance from a youtube rabbit hole that started at lil Wayne. sort of the dichotomous extreme away from Prince artistically. i have absolutely no issue citing both artists in the same breath for their creativity and quality. they approach the art of music from different places and come up with different compositions, but both are still prolific and inspirational in their own regard. you might as well look at a John Singer Sargent painting, and say "now this is art, and the people who accept Mark Rothko don't know what art is"
as for the people, the people have always been artistically illiterate morons and assholes. John Singleton Copley NOW has a square with a fountain, a sculpture of his likeness, and a train station named after him in Boston....and yet in his life, he was disgraced and mocked for his artistic pursuits in the US. he renounced his citizenship, moved to London where he continued a successful career and died there, never coming back stateside. the point of this story is that had he stayed in Boston, he would've drifted into obscurity and there would be no square with a fountain in his honor, and his art wouldn't hang in some of the most important museum galleries in the world. had he stayed in Boston he would've suffered at the hands of the people's artistic illiteracy.
while i agree that the digital age has turned art into a disposable commodity, a phenomenon which has diminished the quality of popularity....but the digital age has also given the most visibility and viability towards artists who deserve a working career in the arts who might not have had such opportunities in the same time as this performance. it's not their fault you're too lazy to source them out.

I love Prince and this takes me away to a place that I want to be, but that doesn't negate the importance of others. In 2007 I experienced Prince at the at the 02 Arena. I still get very emotional thinking about it, it was one of the best nights of my life. He gave his soul to his music, like he gave a piece of himself to each and everyone one of us in the audience.

I’ve been playing for like 6 months and I have no clue how he can play that fast, I don’t even think I could play an open string that fast. Much less make anything sound this good

To think that this 64" man taught himself to play more than 1000 instruments is mind boggling. He was truly an intellectual musician and business man as well. He didn't just play music; he changed it forever. He truly knew his worth. He was a giant.
