Kinda crazy that Banner’s father says “take it back” and “it’s not stopping”. Just truly shows that Hulk literally had unlimited power, and The Absorbing Man can’t handle it.
Also shows you how much pent-up anger against his father was REALLY inside Bruce after his mother’s death.
Also explains why the subsequent movies hulks were much weaker , he gave up most of his radiation

The whole reason was because of Banner constantly using him to fight his battles. Hulk had enough by the time Thanos beat his ass so they needed reassess their situation together. Professor Hulk was their only compromise because of not being able to think as one whole person. This Hulk from beginning to end at least embodies Banner as a whole; his brains and cool-headedness as Bruce and the inner torment and rage that wants to be released as the Hulk. You can even still see Bruce behind the Hulk's face, he's not just acting out.
@@JinX_11199 they gave several BS reasons and could never even agree on one. The truth is they didn't know what to do with Hulk, because he didn't fit into their story, so they just wrote him out of the story. They never understood or cared about the Hulk.
When Bruce starts screaming as his father is being electrocuted- I actually started tearing up. You can hear the gut wrenching pain in his voice: not knowing his mom, being robbed of a loving childhood, the anger he has for his father for becoming Absorbing Man and wanting to steal his power. Sometimes I also think he thought his Dad was going to die- the pain of knowing his Dad is evil but not wanting to lose him because he is the only parent he has left. Ang lee really captures the essence of Bruce Banners pain from the comic in this movie. I was 11 in 2003 when this movie came out. I still love it. 💜✨ The camera angles, Danny Elfman’s music score (the fight scene in the clouds) capturing the Hulks power/rage in this movie...It’s iconic and was ahead of its time!
He was trying his best to contain his anger and fear to not turn into the Hulk if you notice but then he just couldn't control his emotions anymore
It wasn’t father being electrocuted, he was absorbing the electricity to show his power of absorbing to absorb his sons hulk power because his power is unstable

I think it was a mix of things, already feeling sad and angry about his mother and then hearing about his father’s plan to absorb his power and possibly use it to harm Betty since he tried killing her once already. At first he was trying to control his rage and sadness but after seeing his father start to transform he knew everyone including Betty would be in danger and realized only the Hulk could possibly stop him, deciding to stop holding back his anger and sadness and just let it all out to transform as fast as possible.
This was not liked at all during it's time. People were saying it was too soft lol. Now look at movies and how soft they are.
Let's be honest, if this film came out today EXACTLY AS IT DID IN 2003 people would love it.
It's depressing to know that it took 20 years for most people to appreciate a true comic book movie (me included, when I was a kid I hated this film, but now i love it so much, I consider Bruce one of my favorite movie protagonists (in general)

The fighting in the sky scene was one of the best. Not a lot of action that can be seen but you can tell they went at it

One of the greatest fight scenes of all time and what’s even better is that Bruce didn’t die he lived on
You left off the best part... the emotional pay off. Flashback scene where David and Bruce share a loving embrace as father and son. I think he says something like "sweet dreams, son".
This is definitely one of my favorite scenes in the movie! And one of the best Hulk movies that have been made so far, along with 2008

This movie (along with Tobey McGuire Spider man) was my childhood like most people.
NOW as an adult i feel that moment where he says “You think you can live with it.. Take it. take it ALL!!!!”. & how it was too much for his dad, it’s refreshing. But as hulk was and still is, my favorite Marvel character of all time - as a kid i remember feeling INCREDIBLY scared.. & then full of bitter hate. not of the scene. But of my hero losing his powers. I truly believed his dad took all of hulks power and i hated him so much for it.

The greatest part about all of the Hulk TV shows and movies for me, is Lou Ferrigno. I would have loved to see him actually cameo in the Avengers movies, as well as voice Hulk in Planet Hulk; but his acting/voice acting is why I’m hooked on everything Hulk.
I grew up a pastor’s kid starting in 1980. My father refused to allow a tv in our house and we couldn’t go watch movies in the theaters either. Living in a small town meant there wasn’t a whole lot my brothers and I could do in public without it getting back to him…and by the time he was “informed”, the events were completely twisted. He even tried to tell our friends parents that if we spent the night at their house, he’d prefer that they wouldn’t watch tv with us in the room. Those parents would just tell him ok, and tell us if we shut up and didn’t say anything, they didn’t care what we watched. The very first tv show I actually remember watching were the re-runs of The Incredible Hulk on Saturday mornings. I loved watching the transformation from Banner to Hulk.

In 1977, Ferrigno was cast as the Hulk in The Incredible Hulk. Despite the fact that they were rarely on camera together, Ferrigno and Bill Bixby - who played the Hulk's "normal" alter ego - became friends; Ferrigno has described Bixby as a "mentor" and "father figure" who took him under his wing. Ferrigno also singles out the instances in which Bixby directed Ferrigno in some episodes as particularly memorable. This is Hulks best feat in this film.
He unfreezes the lake,a feat calculated at Town level(kiloton range)and he then goes on to unleash exponentially far more power for almost a minute.
His energy output goes from being smaller than his body to completely filling up that giant bubble.
The nuke at the end only made it explode cause it was like a needle to a balloon and the novel says it was already at its limits and couldn't absorb more energy.
Its hard to calculate this feat but Hulk does create an insanely fast gamma radiation tornado.
The question is if this feat can be scaled above Country levels.
Cause MCU Hulk indeed scales to characters with Country level feats and he also cracked a vibranium wall in Agents of Shields which has country level durability
I will update if i manage to calculate the full extent of this feat
But it IS explicitly stated to be Hulks best,he was facing the very source of his trauma which fuels his rage which fuels his power.
But the thermoclear bomb was definitely atleast a solid 1.2 megaton attack if you are wondering.
Its most likely Atleast Island level at bare minimum,hoping for something crazy like Multi-Continent level though i doubt it

This movie is a master piece and I've always loved it since I was a kid. Yes, it is an underrated movie. Anyway, I love the melancholic storyline of Bruce, the soundtrack is keen on representing the drama, the actors give their best on their performances. The CGI overall is really well made for a 2003 movie. This movie also has some scary scenes, every time when Hulk would start transform I would shiver on my couch, but I would really enjoy seeing Hulk powers and strength. Great movie!

Despite its many flaws, this movie had a very unique style of storytelling. Many scenes, including this one bordered on cosmic horror. That is the only way I can see The Hulk, as a body horror movie.

Bana, Nolte, Elliot, the entire cast was fitting like a glove, and that lightning scene is just a masterpiece. An absolute masterpiece. Such, such an underrated movie.

That's a big problem with the 4k version. Everything is toned and saturated too much.

Bruce's father isn't Absorbing Man, he just has similar powers. I've been head-canon calling him The Chameleon due to, one, his power to blend in" with whatever he touches, and two, his lizard-like skin he developed when his cut healed.
