They say that hellboy is descendant from King Arthur that’s why he’s able to fight with a sword and keep up with a skilled fighter. Not exactly sure what they meant but it was brought up from comics or the new movie. When I was young I was curious on where does he learn how to use a sword because he’s fighting so fast with it. Nuada is a prime example of someone being an “Antagonist” more than an actual “Villain”. He did some messed up things to some people but he just wanted his kind to be able to be free to live their lives like they did in the past. He was more angry at the humans for the way they treat non humans and our never ending greed, never having enough. Plus, Nuada just a BAMF. His look, his demeanor, his drip, his determination, EVERYTHING!!! 🔥🤘🏽

An Antagonist stands in the way of a hero's goals. A villain does evil shit. Iron man is the Antagonist to Captain America. The good witch Gelinda is the Antagonist of Dorathy. The Joker is a Villain, the asshole from Avatar is a Villain, Prince Nuada is a Villain. He's willing to kill just about everyone to end humanity, because humans don't have the same advantages of elves and just have to make do with what they have. Shopping malls and parking lots are making due with what humans have. Elves don't need to eat, or worry about getting old, sick. Nuada is a pompous noble, that spits on the poor for surviving.

His demeanor and his determination to complete his goal, whether you like it or not he’s fighting for his people and his kind to thrive once more after being forgotten and stepped upon by us humans. And his weapons!!, my god are they awesome and the way they are designed is just magnificent, along with the skill he has in using them. In my opinion it’s extremely hard not to love the guy, I wish they had a movie just about him Far far back in time when they built the Golden Army in both they are humans were at war. Honestly, I'm right there with you, a movie about a younger Nuada fighting in the war, seeing the construction of the golden army and the slaughter that followed, his exile and him watching as his people fell to ruin as Humanity forgot its part of the treaty. He's already like 90% the way to being protagonist of this film, it wouldn't be hard to make him the hero of a new film. Sad it will never happen.

HellBoy on the side of humans that have broken the contract and have destroyed/ruined what’s left of the other world. Prince Nuada on the side of the Other world that has crumbled under the boot heel of humans that have forgotten his people and all forms on his side. Both are in the right for completely different reasons, and many different reasons. That’s why I said he’s one of, if not my favorite “Villain/Character” Because I don’t se him truly as a villain. The people saying he's just showing off or being arrogant are missing the clues that he didn't need to give Hellboy a weapon here. When they fought in the library he didn't need to avoid killing him or wounding him the first time around. Nuada didn't hate Hellboy, he was just an opponent. And if one's psychoanalyzing his reasons for fighting this way (aside from the obvious answer that audiences like flips) it could be dynamic as a statement of "here I am" which falls in line with his belief that they had been marginalized and as a way to reject that dismissal.

The goblin says that a curse fell on the city of Bethmora when the Golden Army was stored there.
A theory: the curse was actually the Golden Army drawing all the energy of the inhabitants, slowly, in some form or manner. They're basically robots, but magic or no - they need energy to come alive and fight. This energy they get by drawing on the ambient energy of their surroundings.

I can't speak for anyone else, but the scene from 3:02 to 3:39 sorta made this movie for me.
We are led to believe that the Golden Army's true strength lies in numbers.
But as the heroes attempt to polish up this first batch, the chassis that Johann Krauss is currently driving is suddenly impaled from behind.
Krauss is forced to eject...and as soon as he returns to his containment suit, he bears witness to a sight that would ruin the morale of the most stubborn armies:
The bisected robot he was possessing _pulls its halves back together._
The one that Hellboy impaled *pulls the arm out* and uses it to replace its own limb.
All around the room, opponents that were presumed dead start to twitch and groan, surging with heat and steam. Gears, pulleys, twisted metal, every last component that was separated from the bodies begin to roll, jump and scrape, slamming together and clicking into place.
To make matters worse, not only are each of the machines completely modular(allowing components from totally independent machines to work exactly the same with all of their comrades), the regeneration process appears able to function without any direct command from the programming that controls them.
A blatant demonstration occurs when a combination of gears, pulleys and metal comes together to form a _head,_ which one of the soldiers simply takes off the ground and attaches to it's body, without the slightest hint of difficulty.
The story was right. "Seventy times Seventy soldiers, that would never know hunger and could not be stopped." These machines might not be too hard to knock down, but they are impossible to _keep_ down, and eventually their enemy will be too exhausted to keep fighting.

Personally, the two films I directed feel like authentic adaptations of comics if they feel a lot of charisma and visual ambition.

Honestly, I’m glad we don’t have a third film. The Golden Army ended on a solid happy ending which is something Hellboy needed. I think people forget that. A third entry would be great to finish the whole “End of the World” thing with him, but I don’t want to see that. Plus how are you ever going to top Nuada as a anti-villain?

Weeeell, if you look at the comics you have (SPOILERS)
Baba Yaga (an ancient russian witch), Gruagach (a former shapeshifting warrior of the Tuatha De Danann), Koshchei the Deathless (an inmortal warrior), Evil Brother (a wrathful Homunculus) Hecate (godes of witches) Azzael (Hellboy's Dad) and Nimue (Queen of blood and ruler of Britain).
By the way, I know a few of those characters have been used in the 2019 movie, but i would like to see them as part of the original saga.

I absolutely agree. Luke Goss kicked out of the planet, practically, with this character. I loved him as Jared Nomak but I'll forever love him as Prince Nuada.
      Fanboying, over.

The deleted epilogue was gonna tease Rasputin returning as a Ghost.
      Just like in the comic.

Del Toro said in an online conference (in Spanish) last year that the villain of the third part was going to be an Archangel who was asleep in a former Soviet base.

7:55 It's like Prince Nuada is begging him to kill him. "You must. For I will not stop. I cannot." As much as he wants to save his people, he also does not want endless blood to all life. But with that much determination, Nuada will stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

Johann was kicking ass by the dozen! Quite the formidable fighter, excellent combat intuition, coupled without the worry of pain or exhaustion makes him a total badass with the right body/object/machinery to possess
