Ultimate Avengers is an animated movie released in 2006 and the first film in the Marvel Animated Features, it was followed by Ultimate Avengers 2. It is a loose adaptation of the Ultimate Marvel comic book limited series The Ultimates that follows the origins of the Avengers and their battle against the Chitauri.
Plot
In the North Atlantic in 1945 a squadron of B-24 Liberators transport the 101st Airborne Division. The radio announces that Berlin has been taken and Nazi Germany is expected to surrender. However, there are also claims of a Nazi superweapon that is aimed at the United States of America.
Steve Rogers, better known as Captain America, leads the mission on an island near Norway where the superweapon is believed to be held. Rogers storms through the fortress and is confronted by his nemesis Herr Kleiser, who is revealed to be an extraterrestrial shape-shifter. The superweapon is launched, leaving Rogers the choice to throw himself onto the rocket and harmlessly cause it to self destruct, while having a final confrontation with Kleiser. The missile is destroyed, but Rogers falls into the ocean and the world believes he is dead.
Sixty years later, Rogers' body is recovered by S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury and thawed out into modern day. Gamma scientist Bruce Banner is working on a super soldier serum for S.H.I.E.L.D., while on medications that keep him from transforming into the Hulk. S.H.I.E.L.D. sends a sattelite into space to track the three ramaining alien ships, but is ultimately destroyed by the invaders, forcing Nick Fury to reluctantly initiate Project: Avenger.
Fury and Rogers try to recruit the Norse god Thor, who rejects the offer to continue environmentalist protests. The resulting recruits are Captain America, Bruce Banner, Iron Man, Giant Man, Wasp, Natalia Romanov and Betty Ross. Fury briefs the team about the aliens, named the Chitauri, and the use of the metal vibranium, while Banner struggles to repress the Hulk persona and Rogers is hesitant of leading the Avengers.
The team's first mission is to capture a Chitauri spy which has breached a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility. The Avengers disregard Rogers' orders and follow their own egos, resulting in failure which allows the alien to escape with all sufficient information about S.H.I.E.L.D.. Fury fires an arrogant Hank Pym, who is followed by his wife Wasp. Iron Man, now revealed to be Tony Stark, resigns immediately. Rogers also chooses to leave Fury, feeling unready to fight the Chitauri.
Desperate for soldiers to combat the coming assault on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s New York facility, Fury demands that Banner applies his super soldier serum to all of his candidates, only for Betty Ross to learn that Banner was only using the serum as a diversion to find a way to control the Hulk. Banner steps into a "rebirth chamber", which transforms him into the Hulk, while still maintaining his own mind. Fury and the Black Widow lead a failing attack against the alien invaders, but each Avenger shows up, now joined by Thor, to send the three ships crashing into the ocean.
Banner loses control of his thoughts and the Hulk retains his own childlike and violent personality, brutally killing every last Chitauri and then lashing out against the Avengers. The Hulk proves strong enough to knock out a full-size Giant Man, damage Iron Man's suit and even, with effort, to lift Thor's hammer Mjollnir. The Avengers manage to inject the Hulk with a high dose of Banner's medication, and Betty Ross calms the Hulk long enough to let the drug render him human again.
Banner is kept in a glass cell for breaking Fury's trust, and the Avengers celebrate their success against the Chitauri and praise a wounded Captain America for leading them as a team.

But this is the hulk Thanos fought in the first Thanos movie. Thanos has fought Hulk and Thor in the comics simultaneously and won. He's also toyed with multiple Galactus heralds wielding the power cosmic and won. As a hulk fanatic I want to believe Hulk could beat him but aside from immortal hulk, I don't think hulk just beats him. Thanos has the durability that allowed him to once travel through a black hole. He also has a very superior amount of fighting experience, and quick wit in battle. This combined with his God level strength and durability is the issue, and there is also the fact that most of the time he tends to have some type of artifact or something to boost his powers or abilities beyond what he naturally has.
This Hulk was unable to kill the Captain and had his skin pierced by a syringe

I think the thing that made this movie special when you get down to it is taking the basic concept of Ultimates but removing the absolute disdain for its characters the comic had.

I feel like it’s really a hallmark of Mark Millar in particular. There always seemed to be a level of resentment whenever he was writing mainstream superhero characters.
Captain America is so badass in this movie and gave him really compelling character moments that made him my favorite marvel character for a long while

It hurt my brain how little the storyboard artists understood of the importance of leverage. It doesn't matter if your muscles are super strong if you don't weigh enough to keep your opponent from simply tossing you into the air. In reality, Giant Man would have used Hulk as a hacky sack and there's nothing he could have done to stop it.

This movie was my first introduction to the Avengers and many more of the Marvel heroes. The only one I knew back then was the Hulk. Him, Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

This film and its sequel are based on the Ultimates (the Ultimate Universe version of the Avengers) In that universe Thors hammer isn't inchantted like it's 616 counterpart. Insted the hammer like the actual norse mythology Thor's hammer is just extremely heavy. So heavy that Thor is thr only one who has the strength to left the damm thing. But Hulk just so angry that he said fuck it and was able to get strong enough to left it.
Yeah. Lifting Ultimate Thor's hammer means nothing lol. The thing is like a car batery. Is not even asgardian tech, it is human technology.

What’s more, since when is Mjolnir part axe, when in all of its iteration it always has been a hammer. Look up Thor’s Storm Breaker, and you’ll have the same weapon he’s wielding here.
I think this movie is what officially made hulk my favorite marvel character .
Literally picks up Thors hammer on his own and throws it at him without Thor calling it back and then hulk grabbing on like they usually show it. This Hulk is beyond strong.

What's interesting is that the animation of X-Men Evolution inspired Ultimate Avengers. both of these Animated projects were influenced by Ultimate X-Men and the Ultimates.

Still can't believe they pulled off a cartoon based on this comic. I mean, the Hulk was threatening to rape and cannibalize Freddie Prinze Jr.
And they still managed to make Hulk a badass and a threat.
It was a good choice to make the characters act more like their mainstream 616 counterparts despite being an adaptation of the Ultimate Universe.

@@BW_penny That’s actually pretty realistic considering this version of cap. This one was based off the ultimate comics adaptation which has Cap ranging above ten tons in terms of strength within that universe.

This was awesome. The threats they were fighting the whole movie were not as bad as the hulk and hulk was made the final battle. Brilliant!
The scene were the Wasp invades the Hulk's ear, and the way Hulk expels her from his ear, 3:48 - 3:56., is taken from The Avengers #3 (January 1964) by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee. Yes, I'm that old. It's a wonderful homage.

Yo Captain America is a beast in these scenes. He was scared at all walked up to Hulk and Punched him right in his face.

It was surreal seeing Captain America headline an animated feature at that time. Hard to believe he wasnt always the name sake he is now. Wish these animated features were still produced as well as this ine was.
Finally Captain America get scratch by one superhero avengers call Hulk ( Even tho he lost control. ) in this movie. Honestly better than MCU. Because I kindly infuriated that Captain America didn't get scratch by one good superhero because of moral. Just like Batman 2.0. Thank God this movie gives me a calm.

A lot of people are calling out mistakes based on the movie. This cartoon is almost the same as an early issue of the Ultimates, not the Avengers. It's an alternative universe where Hulk isn't as strong (but much nastier), Thor's hammer is not enchanted by Odin, Hank Pym is Giant Man, there is no Scott Lang, and Cap is a bit stronger and not a clean fighter. In that issue (very similar to this fight), Cap kicks hulk in the balls.
Good thing the personalities of the characters here were more akin to their 616 ones, not those jerk psychos from 1610 (plus good thing they avoided the cannibal horny Hulk :v)

they're intentionally worked to bury these early, pre-MCU marvel films for some reason even though they're all quite good. They've intentionally kept them off services and DVD releases.
Because lionsgate still holds the rights to this and all of the other animated films under the marvel animated features brand that ran from 2006-2011 kinda like how they won't make another hulk movie because universal holds the movie rights for the character

At least I want one superhero gonna beat Captain America because this superhero never get scratch by one good superhero before. This one calms me a lot. ( Even Hulk is lose control. ) I kindly infuriated this Captain America so badly because MCU love Captain America too much.
Virgin MCU Hulk:
- Following Cap's orders to SMASH
- Can barely lift the Mjolnir
- Gets his ass handed to him by Iron Man even in his Hulk-Buster Armor
- Crush on the Black Widow
- Didn't do much alone to defeat the Chitauri other than smashing lesser ones, stop a Leviathan with his fist, and stab another with a plate shard (which are admittedly awesome)
- Constantly Friends on the Puny Human's Side
Chad Ultimate Hulk:
- Threatens Cap to Stay Out of His Fight
- Can Both Take the Blow and Lift the Mighty Mjolnir
- Could Probably Open Iron Man's Armor Easily like a Can-Opener
- Tries to Kill the Black Widow
- Easily Rip and Tear through the Chitauri like paper, and took down an even bigger ship with his penetrating fists
- Could Easily Take Down Giant-Man
- Constantly Try to Kill the Puny Humans

Hulk 2003, this movie, Ultimate Avengers 2, and The Incredible Hulk set the tone for me for who the Hulk was, I was incredibly disappointed with Thor Ragnarok, Infinity War, Endgame, and She-Hulk. Like come on Hulk is supposed to be this unstoppable force of nature and now he’s a joke
