This is the larger section with no forced choices or interruptions from the 'pick your path' concept that nearly killed me. I've had this video unlisted for over a year so forgive any dated references. Just figured it was only fair to finally release it as I am FINALLY done building the sim rig to use for content and will be publishing regularly starting end of September. See you soon!
As usual, expertly done and without favoritism for a particular driver/team. Your videos are always well done!
You are a PRO, and we are many that have really missed you! You are such a great story teller, and fact deliverer... (next time though, please drop the mario brothers background sound :))
PLEASE MAKE MORE
this is the best news
@@jan.lotvall noted! It’s makes considerably more sense while playing the game version of this video to be fair haha but it’s a deviation from the typical sound track . Thanks for the feedback!
been needing more cranky yankee in my life tbh
I wasn't expecting this creativity out of the bloom well done
i tried to keep it on the downlow. glad it worked!
In my opinion, there is no such thing as a best era, as the sport has always been dominated by one team or another. Even in 'boring' seasons there are great races. What we do get, is the occasional spectacular season, which results from multiple teams being able to fight for wins. That is something that the sport needs more of, as the 2010s have witnessed the fewest amount of champions in a decade, in the history of the sport.
Very, very true. good points
The best era is the era I started watching Formula 1. The worst era is the one I stopped watching Formula 1. Them's the rules :)
Well, V8 and Kers were my favorite eras, I think because most of those seasons were very unique, like 2007 and 2008 the title fight being scored by one point, or 2009 with two new teams taking place as the new great forces on the sport. And we even saw very equilibrated seasons like 2010 and 2012, when 6 teams got to win a gp and more than 2 drivers could get to the final round with a chance become champion. I think it regards to me a similar feeling of the 80s turbo era when most of the f1 legends emerged. As a 2000s born i can easilly say that Alonso, Vettel, Hamilton, Button and Raikkönen were the Senna, Prost, Mansell, Piquet and Rosberg of this well aged modern era.
You're mostly correct, but recent dominations by Schu/Ferrari, Vettel/RBR & Hamilton/Merc have seen long-term consecutive champ wins with no-one except Nico Rosberg interrupt their runs (and he drove for Merc). Piquet, Stewart, Lauda & Clark never won consecutive WDCs and Brabham, Prost & Senna only won consecutive WDCs once (1959/60, 1985/86 & 1990/91). Only Fangio managed to win at least 3 consecutive championships (which ended up being 4 straight WDCs) in the 20th century and he remains the only driver to win Champs with 4 different constructors (Maserati, Mercedes, Lancia-Ferrari & Alfa Romeo). Williams were technically the dominant team of the 1990s, but remarkably nome of their drivers ever won more than a single WDC with them and Schumacher/Benetton disrupted their success. There's some truth that injuries to Lauda, Senna's death, Mansell's bad luck and safety concerns for Stewart meant they never got the chance to establish true uninterrupted dominance (in addition Prost & Senna stole titles off each other when both probably would've solely dominated if the other wasn't there).
I may be biased, but the late 1990s & 2000s has to be my favourite era. Loud v10 engines, increased TV coverage on ITV, the growth of Schumacher's legacy (and me willing Kimi on to destroy his title run), the emergence of the big 4 of Ham, Alo, Kimi & Seb and the likes of Jaguar, Honda, BMW & Toyota trying but failing to take on the big boys. Oh and I run Motorsports in the 2000s on Twitter 😃
@@burningphoneix My first race is from monaco from 1982 (I still have the shirt that my parents wore me, but can't remember it cause I wass less than one year old). I have so many era's that I love. But Mika - Schumi "era" is my favorite cause it was during my teenage years. I used to drive karting and all of my friends thought me kind of an odball cause my favorite thing was Formula 1 and wrc. I remember ghr battles of Senna, Prost, Mansell, but the late 90's to mid 2000 was my peak of this great sport.
This is amazing, always the best F1 commentary content on this site.
thank you for spending your time here and there's much more on the way Ulrich!
People forget that F1 is first and foremost a constructor’s championship, with the driver championship as supposedly a side show
This is true. Constructor is the only thing that matters
Yup! But we undoubtedly follow our heroes. Will follow them to whatever team they're in. I've only been a Ferrari fan when one of my drivers has "worked" there.
Classic case where mgmt. views differ from those of their consumers.
To me I never really cared about the constructors. I think F1 should focus on the driver's more.
Yoooooooooooooooooooo, this is mad clever with the Unlisted upload
Fucking sucks bc I get none of the credit from youtube in terms of the data BUT it's for real worth it to try something different. I mean it when i say I want to give yall something better
First CYMotorsport, then Chainbear, then Dacha44 and now WTF1? Which F1 YT channel is going to be dead next? Place your picks in the comments below!
they all died when we needed a reprieve from clickbait youtube misinformation the most
Dachas at least back now but CY and Chainbear are still gone 😢
Best creative series on F1 youtube
I'll keep pushing!
This is just so creative and a genuine pleasure to watch your work dude
that's good to hear! it's important to me keep the channel and fresh and challenging
This is amazing. Haven't seen something like this in a long time
Cranky where have you gone! Seriously missing the regular uploads - hope you're well.
Solid in depth content with details I've never heard of before. For example I didn't know Lauda won the title in 84 without a pole, crazy! Also a great storytelling voice, well done mate, this channel is a diamond in the rough
Niki knew he couldn’t hang with Prost for one lap pace. Had to use all of the other tools in his kit to beat Alain.
As Paul Newman’s said “deceit and treachery will always overcome youth and good intentions…”
Amazing video
Both editing, storyline and voice over. Super clean and smooth, and no dumb obnoxious jokes. Just straight to the point. Bravo.
My favorite channel on youtube. Not just the best f1 storytelling, but the editing as well. You can always tell how much hard work goes into your videos!
glad to hear you enjoy it! Thats frankly all I care about right now. it's going to be an interesting year with the sport I have a feeling. objectivity is going to be critical. i just wanna be sure i lay the ground work for you all to see you getting honest coverage genuinely from a an honest place is my chief concern bar none
@@CYMotorsport Excited to see what you'll do this coming season. Cheers man
The research is really good and throughout the video, it is well done. Thank you.
Nice to see an upload CY. I always enjoy your F1 videos and am glad to see you back. Hope to see some more content soon. Keep up the good work mate.
Nick, just wow man!!! 🤯🤯🤯🤯 Very very cool concept. I can imagine this took a lot of time to create so i tip my hat to you. Glad you're bringing original ideas to the F1 youtube community. I hope this brings you more subs and patrons because you definitely deserve it
all I care is that it brought YOU something different. i know without a doubt if I only focus on that, the rest will happen naturally. whenever it does.
GJ as always, CY. I do take one thing away from your video - and that's something I've been hoping for, the end of this era. I hope that the 2021 F1 season will be one to remember for how close it will be, how varied it will be in terms of race winners and podium appearances, how tight it will be in terms of WDC and WCC because no team can afford spending more time than necessary on development with some already throwing the towel in from the very start to focus on the big changes looming ahead. In a way 2021 is the season nobody would want to win because it will severely harm their development and testing time for the next year - and that alone should be an incentive for those who want to create a legacy to clash with the drivers who want to win races.
I would agree it's going to be tight. very tight. especially at the upper end of the 'midfield'. cant wait !
This is aging quite well I have to say
I mean it took a DNF and almost a DNF from one of the two drivers into a title fight, but at least we ARE having some top team fight, while still having a competitive mid field
Excellent work. Truly incredible. Would love to see a Lauda vs hunt video
ON IT!
Cant wait for your 2021 review.. gonna be a banger!!?!
This was an incredibly education video. You’ve outdone yourself! Congrats 🎉
Incredible work, I can see why you said it almost killed you. Would love to see the Lauda Hunt video
Great to see you back cranky !
Excellent idea and implementation. It's not often you see youtubers attempt to innovate instead of just pumping out videos, I let this full video play in the background while doing something else but am going to actively watch the other version. I hope to see more "out of the box" thinking on the future.
Oooooh the return of the king 👑
This was really well researched and presented! Thanks for doing this! I always look for F1 CZcams content that can teach me something and I usually avoid click-bait that only rehashes rumors. This video had good value to F1 fans. Thanks!!
I was watching some of that hot take garbage for fun this week and was livid sitting there. idk how ppl get away with that shit. I jsut know it's not fun to make.
Great story as always and welcome back
Wow! Your channel never disappoints. Your creativity is worth the wait for new videos!
wont take this long for the next one haha or likely ever again I promise. the amount of moving parts was out of this world for this one. but I had a very specific goal in mind and it mostly delivered. thanks for the continued support and patience! I'll repay you i promise
You're back!!!!! We've missed you like crazy!!!!! Welcome back!!!
Love your videos! Really missed your content!
So glad you're back!
Great content production. I'm watching for the second time already. Thank you.
Wow that's such an amazing video ❤️. Amazing work brother
Hey man I love your season breakdown Videos. Keep it on and good luck 👍
Really enjoyed this. Thank you.
Man, you're Daniel Day Lewis of CZcams: your videos are rarely released, but every video is masterpiece
that's an insult to DDL haha but I appreciate it. someday I will be. not yet but with enough feedback and interested eyes, you al continue to make me better
Personally my favorite eras are V8 and KERS, that's when F1 seemed to be the most open in terms of competition, at least in my life time.
This is amazing! New favorite channel!
Another great video man
Yes! My man is back!
Nice to see you back
Making my way through your videos and they're amazing. I notice a glaring omission of Verstappen though. Are you working on something there?
Another great video I'll end up watching multiple times!
Your videos are just so good. Keep up this work bro it's awesome
So stoked you’re back
good to be!
The king returns
Great content well done mates
Excellent as always.
Thanks for the new video
I love on how you talked about team lotus. Team lotus was one of the greatest teams in my opinion
Please keep making those videos!
Just wanted to say thanks for your videos, I wish there was more. But if it's always quality like this, I'll take whatever I can get.
don't worry. I always keep my word. somtimes i just let a little time go by as i scheme haha but by hook or crook I'll deliver. granted this one took longer than I wanted, but it'll be worth it over the next 5 years. I think about this brand and channel in the decades so it didnt' seem very long to me to be honest . not for what I've built in the studio here.
Amazing content, big fan ❤️
Hoping one day you see this just so you feel good. I remember watching your video about Logan Sargeant and listening to you explain how everyone should give this F3 driver a shot due to bad luck costing a title at Monza. Anyways years after that video he’s in F1 and whenever I see Logan Sargeant I think “CYM is the reason I’m a hardcore fan”. You’re awesome 👏 much love ❤️ hope life is treating you well.
Bitter dead channel he still makes jealous comments on other channels that are not dead like his 😅😂
Video is amazing and informative
Amazing man, grt content. Just ammazing!

Welcome back CYM!
I wonder how many hours you spent on this masterpiece!
Excellent Video
Interesting video as always, CY!
Great vid👌
Good to see ya!
This was amazing
Love❤ your content bro!
this was a fun full gamified series. but it almost ruined my life it took so much logistical attention haha
another quality documentary!
This video creatively Epic!!!
Best F1 channel
Best F1 channel. Welcome back. I thought F1 hired you. Not even kidding...
Welcome back! We’ve missed your niche of more serious story telling rather than commentary, media mogul or sarcasm!
Ahhhhhh mannn I really miss your videos . The GOAT
I'll be back here shortly officially. posting this bad boy which I hadn't shared and was buried within the choose your path concept so like 5% of ppl saw it haha.
This vid was awesome.
Yes I want the 1976 season summary( hunt vs Lauda)
you got it

Wow this is your masterpiece !
my goal is improve every single video so I can hope each one is! Thank you for the feedback!
I just want to say, thank you for the effort, time and dedication you put into your channel. Its a shame you was forced to change the channel name from crankyF1.
Reguardless, keep up the effort man. ✌️
My word man great content. Your Ferrari-McLaren spy investigation video got me hooked so tight that I didn't even know how those 20 minutes flew by. It was like I watched an intense crime investigation, I'm not sure if I even blinked.
Great great fucking content. Could literally feel your passion for motorsport through your voice. You are so underrated my friend, keep going. I hope your channel takes a boom very soon. ❤️
PS: I'm already excited for your view on the 2021 WDC winner and the Epic Max-Lewis battle. 🔥🔥
Very slick!
Can we get a 2021 championship review. One of the most exciting.
I miss your videos :(
Us, more knowledgeable geeks of the sport, NEED someone like Cranky. You are one of the very few true shining diamonds in a sea of clickbait content blandness.
When Garth and Wayne meet Alice Cooper… 🙌🏽 “we’re not worthy, we’re not worthy”🙌🏽
this is absolutely unbelievable.
good to hear Mitchh :)

Fantastic video. In my opinion the problem with F1 is that it is too much serious business. I would love a more relaxed laid back attitude to everything and the people not taking it as seriously as they are right now. It is about driving cars quickly and taking risk because you want to.
I been an airline pilot for 30 years. Aircrafts have introduce tremendous levels of technology just like F1. All you need is an engine, a carburetor, a transmission and some tires to have a great race. Let’s be done with all this gadgets and return back to basics.
It's nice to see a video from you. Hope you are ok
all good - no worries thanks for the thought. was building a monster of a machine I'll be showing off soon. she's my pride and joy haha
@@CYMotorsport looking forward to it.
Can we call the upcoming 2022 era as "The Aero Era"
once we finally learn what the regs will even be haha
@@CYMotorsport Theory are mostly there, but real implementation is what matters.
@@CYMotorsport how about now 😂
Maybe a video that explained the 2020 season as a whole and why fans hold this season in high regard?🤷🏻♂️
If that isn't something you want to do maybe a 2021 season preview(knowing the pre-seasons tests are over)?🤔
BTW: loved the video concept!
i think I'm going to do a blend video of 2020 and prep for 2021 here soon!
“But when the world needed him the most , he reappeared”
So much information packed into this video. I struggled to follow and felt like I missed some important links. Cool video, though. I'm definitely in the minority here.
I mean, some of the coolest and most creative uses of YT features. But might heavily compromise views and revenue. On the other hand, if you're happy just making something this awesome I'm happy too!
it's going to hurt this month hahah there's no doubt about it. but I can always look back on this project and be happy I tried. someone has to or we risk boring you all with the same contrived nonsense. it does shake some other cool stuff loose too that I can now get to work on. cheers ajax glad you enjoyed it
