- In this weeks video we are taking a more in depth look at the brand new 2020 Specialized Turbo Levo.
This bike is amazing in my opinion and on of the best E-MTB on the market. If you have a different opinion or want to let me know what you think of the bike let me know in the comments below.
Any constructive criticism is welcomed in the comments.
Thanks for watching and enjoy the ride.

Bike: 2020 Turbo Levo
I had a Cannondale factory racing before I bought this one. I'm almost 60 years old and have osteoarthritis of both knees. After I got this one I got a new life in the forests on the mtb tracks. I've had this levo now for about 3 months and I ride a lot more than before. I can only highly recommend to anyone who has knee problems like me. buy and come out and play with the youngsters.
I’m almost 60 years , too. I got this the same color (blue) Turbo Levo last week. I love it so much!!! Thank you
54 here and same issues and just got the 22 model and have put over 400 miles on it in less than a month and like you said it has opened the trails up for me once again to enjoy this life
Have a spectral on for the last 10 months best thing i ever bought... always getting off the bike with a smile.
I own a 2019 Turbo Levo carbon comp, and I love it...climbs fantastic. I do still ride my other bike, a 2016 Trek Remedy 9.8, and switching between the two is fun. If I want to venture out a little further to explore, I choose the Levo. The Trek, with 27.5 wheels, is fun for technical single track. Thank you for the video.
Thanks I got one of these bikes last week done several rides and really picked me up from the usual grind on the hills. I am 69 years old been cycling 35 years so its a big thumbs up from me to be able to still ride in the morning and not flake out in the afternoon for a sleep sore and sorry.
Bought mine June 2019 ride it every weekend with no problems what’s so ever great bike
I have installed the BLEVO app on my phone and have been driving it for a few months now. It is so much better than the Specialized app also works great with a heart meter. It provides the support you need if your heart is too high. adjust maximum speed in the app for the 2019 models.
My Fav. EMB can't go wrong with the LEVO it's a Great Bike IMO..!!
Thanks, really useful video. Hopefully about to get the comp. Big bucks but your enthusiasm is helping the decision 😀
It is definitely worth the money. It is an amazing ebike and you wont be disappointed
Bought a 2020 expert love it soooooo much fun😁😁😁😁😁😁
Glad your enjoying it dude
Pick mine up on Tuesday same blue as in video can’t wait so excited 👍
Thats awesome. Enjoy it
What's your feedback? I got mine around the same time. I'm loving it. So glad I got it. Even if the monthly payments for the next 24 months are more than my mortgage.
I love it,it’s very quiet, very capable have only been on my local trails and local woods,I will be going to some places with blue and red runs when I’m more confident, I’m 54 and I don’t want to look like and old git holding everyone up but I’m really excited about it,can’t fault the levo in any way 👍
I bought the same bike mate and I love it. I'm 49 but this bike brings out the kid in me. I cant stop riding it. I also use it for commuting and find that I take the longer routes home now. I know the price is hard to justify and it took a lot research to convince me to commit, but so glad I did. The only down side is the speed restriction on the flats and the software hack doesnt work anymore! looks like I'll be buying a mechanical hack instead! great vid, cheers
Thank you for the comment and its awesome knowing your enjoying your levo. I know riding it on the trails does make it alot more fun and playfull because you dont feel limited at all especially on climbs.
Try this www.emtbforums.com/community/threads/2019-2020-levo-2020-kenevo-speed-unlock-levociraptor.6859/page-5#post-112112
I'm in the UK so it's set to 15mph. The bike's gearing with my legs would feel better at 20mph. But I'd not be looking for more than that personally.
Some great footage.
Great review. Your video/review has helped me make the decision to go out and buy a Specialized Turbo Levo. Only negative comment I have is now I’m out of pocket 7K...haha. All kidding aside, thanks for your help.
That's awesome that you got one dude and hopefully your loving it. The price is always a bad side lol. Enjoy the levo and thanks for the comment
Well after a 2017 women's Turbo Levo HT29, that is the bike of my wife in early December when we swap. But we swap the 2 piston Level T in the rear against a 4 piston one too which the dealer has in his "spare parts box". The Level T 4 piston is an OEM product and can not be bought in shops. The 4 piston model has a Level T lever and the caliper is a Guide one... And upgraded with Trickstuff brake pads after the originals are down that brakes will be great for my wife too...
But MY eBike is a Rocky Mountain Altitude PowerPlay C70 😎 That engine and whole bike is really different compared with a Turbo Levo Expert or S-Works for example... 😉
But never the less Turbo Levos are great and would be my 2nd choice after the PowerPlays 👍
Thank you very much for this video! I decided to get this base model, even in this color and most of the other videos review the comp or higher model, so this video was great motivation to save some money, since I am not really a "pro" driver. So the specs should be enough, combined with the great fun is a great decision, i think :)
So stoked your getting one. You will enjoying just make sure when you gdt it download the mission control app. It will help with tuning and diagnostics
@@uk2usamtb421 definitely will do so. I think i will give blevo app a try as well, seems providing some very "future" things.
I read about the level t breaks from base model to be a little "underpowered" in comparison to the bike weight. Can you comment on that maybe?
Looking so forward to get mail from lbs that it can be picked up :)
@@lennartvogt6843 I will say the level brakes aren't great. Im not a fan of sram brake anyway but the levels are terrible. I would recommend some good xt 4 piston get good stopping power for the added weight. Just be carefull with outside apps and adjusting settings past factory it can effect warranty.
Great Video,
thanks
Got my Turbo Levo last September, it’s my 3 th E-bike. Before I had 2x Cube with Bosch XC motor, but I can tell you this is the next level. I bought a 2019 and swapped the battery from 500 to 700W. I can do right now up to 70 km with 2100 altitude meters. That’s why you want a 700W battery. I can tell you I love this bike. The feeling is so natural.
mostly in eco mode ???
I’m buying this bike in March next year, I cannot wait! Same colour and model, using it for work and for fun!
Your gonna love it dude. It is so much fun on the trails and so convenient to commute. Just make sure you get the mission control app it helps alot with tuning the bike. Enjoy the bike and let me know what you think.
I am 68 years old .I am going to be going to a ebike . I think I will wait to next year to see the improvements will be . I am leaning to the Levo.
The levo is a good choice. Its reliable, powerful and fast but still handles like a normal bike. Good warranty and easy to maintain make it a good all around choice
Well, I just went from feeling these bikes were cheating to loving mine. Absolute game changer for long trails with large elevation gains. I am approaching 50 and can keep up with my college age kids again. Keeps my heart rate where it needs to be for a good workout, keeps up on the downhill and rocks the uphills. Love mine.
Its awesome to hear your loving your levo. They open the doors of mountain biking for alot more people. Enjoy it
I don't understand this "cheating" thing people keep mentioning in videos. Cheating at what?
So far the only comments I've had have been of appreciation and tbh, envy. Lots of fun. Feels like winning to me.
I love my 2019 Levo Expert, with the 700wh battery. BTW the new display, battery, and motor changes you referred to actually came out on the 2019, and are unchanged for 2020 other than more options for getting the 700 battery. The only thing I don't like about mine is the color (bright red/bluish grey). Naturally, they improved the color options for 2020, now that I'm stuck with mine, lol.
Glad you are enjoying your levo. I now realize my mistake and should have been more clear about the display and battery and motor. I was using the new generation of levo as an example and not being year specific. Specialized have a way of adding cool stuff after you buy one lol. I got a 2019 stumpjumper and then they released the 2020 with dropper and 12 speed which I had to add myself lol
(bright red/bluish grey). Love the color IMO looks very nice !
That color nice but black is beautiful 😂😂😂😂
There is no competition . This is by far the best MTB e bike.
Love my Levo. 🤙🏴
If i ever get the funds that is my next bike. The levo is so much fun
UK2USAMTB yup. Lots of smiles per miles.
I use my 2017 Turbo Levo FSR ST Comp to commute in Stockholm. Im 28km from work and traffic in Stockholm is not fun. It takes me 55min to get there. Same as if i take the car. I get super good exercise 2 times a day and its free. It becomes doable withe the electric boost. I save good money compared to take the car also… Super good investment.
…once you have it its free :). The bike certantly isnt free exactly hehe
Would love one of these. Definitely a game changer. Just need 5k 😅🤣
More like 10k
@@sheranvoogd2329 base models are around 5k but yeah a full fat one your looking at around 10k. Crazy money 💰
great vid. thank you.
i just cant decide between the turbo levo 2021 and the haibike xduro 3.5...
i have a completely shot lung due some accidents and i could use a bike with enough power to get me on top of the hills again.
I have no experience with the haibike but I can guarantee that the levo will get you to the top of the hill fast. Whichever you go for enjoy and have fun
@@uk2usamtb421 thank you very much !
Hi, got the 2019 model, total blast. the weight has a effect on the downhill stuff but not as much as the tyre size as running on 29 i find..
I feel like the weight makes it hold speed downhill alot better. If it runs on 2.3 tyres it rolls even faster.
I’d love to get one but for now just playing the waiting game. The day they start producing 1,000wH+ batteries is probably when I take dive.
The biggest one that specialized makes is 700wh. As technology changes the battery will het smaller but bigger.
I know that the tech will get better over time but right now is the best is has been for E-Bikes and it can only get better so experiencing it and enjoying it now is better than waiting.
Take a look at Spitzing Evolution, you can get it with the TQ motor and a 1050 wh battery.
It's not likely that you would need anything more than the 700 watt hour battery. I definitely wouldn't want the bike with a 500 watt hour battery. I can do rides over 35 miles with over 5000 feet of climbing. Do you really think you'll be needing to go beyond that?
Just wait until solid state batteries come out. That'll be a game changer.
Its a very well balanced ebike with the best motor, but if you want the best in the descends are way better ebikes. This is the best all rounder but not the best “enduro”
Nice, just bought a 2019 comp, really like it, yes I had to really think about parting with that much cash, but i use it for everything, getting to work and having fun after.. so far so good. I just wish it came with the 700wh battery. Don't think I'll need the extra battery until after winter, I'm going see what range I'm getting out of the 500wh and make a decision come spring time..
Thanks for your comment. Glad your enjoying your levo. That extra battery range is a nice feature but costs alot but having an extra battery would mean even more range if you where to buy the 700wh.
Ikr! I got the 2019 Comp Alloy, 2 months in the motor stopped working, getting my replacement motor, might upgrade battery in the spring to 700wh as well, or maybe after like 500 charges
have you experienced any issues with the Brose motor? I really want to get one but read in a few forums that some folks had issues with the motor and Specialized swaped them out because still under warranty. Thanks
Personally i havent seen many issues at all. The only one i ran into had a snapped belt caused by someone messing with the belt tesion. Other than that there pretty reliable
@@uk2usamtb421 Thank you..
You mentioned be concerned about the motor giving you too much juice when you pedal on a descent. If you go into your Mission Control app and adjust the Acceleration setting down to zero, you still get all your support, but you don't get the instant juice when you step on the pedal. The Turbo guys at Specialized made it sound like it might even be better on the motor.
Why is it when someone does a review of an embn they show more of going down hill than going up. Any bike can go down
because uphill doesn't have the power to climb..
Weight! Lol try riding a dirt bike at speeds on trails like these. Good video looking at getting a Levo for training.
i think acceleration during the descent is just something you have to get used to.. i rode my first trail today on a powerfly and know exactly what you mean
It is a small learning curve but once your use to it you dont really notice it.
@@uk2usamtb421 just bought mine today ^.^ i think the 2020 is a great upgrade.. even with that small learning curve :)
Brakes application control the overrun 👍
@@uk2usamtb421 exactly 👍
I’m considering which eMTB to get. First bike of any kind for many years. Need it for South Downs trails and tracks. What do I get?
I can only really talk about specialized since I havent really ridden many other brands on trails. If your looking for an ebike that offers alot of power and fast acceleration and you arent too worried about weight go for the Turbo Levo. If you want more of a work out and a lighter more normal handeling bike rhen go for the Levo SL.
Hi, when you talk about the motor being quieter than the 'old one', I assume you are referring to the 2019 model? I have been given option of buying the 2019 Levo Comp for £3995 or i could buy the 2020 Levo FSR (entry level) for £4250. I would appreciate your advise on this please in terms of motor quietness. Thanks
It is comparing it to the 2018 model. The 19 and 20 models use the same lighter motor which is quiter and more efficient. The main difference between 19 and 20 is the base model 19 has no dropper. 2020 models have a slightly different parts spec to
UK2USAMTB Thanks for this. I wasn’t sure if the 2020 motor had been tweaked so it was quieter even though they’re both the 2.1.
@@Colonel63 no worries hopefully you get one and love it. The 2.1 has a different casing and tune to make it alot smooher more efficient and quieter
UK2USAMTB Yes I’m very close to the purchase. I think I’ll go for 2019 model because it’s higher spec (being ‘comp’ model) and lower price. I enjoyed your videos also 👍
@@Colonel63 thank you that means alot. Hope you enjoy it and love yout new bike
I like the look of this bike. What's it top speed? 30mph?
The motor is limited to 20mph. But if you used no brakes downhill who knows lol
25kph in the UK which is around 15.5mph. Top gear doesn't get me much past 18mph. Wish I had the USA firmware installed. 20mph would be great compared to the current 15mph.
How does this bike handle big drop? It is save to ride it on big drop?
I haven't hit anything to crazy on it but the drops I have done it handles it perfectly. You may have to pull a bit harder with the weight but rolls off them just like a normal bike.
Hi is it still worth buying the 2018 turbo levo expert? I'm thinking about buying it or the 2020 cube stereo hybrid 160 TM.
The 2018 levo is definitely still worth it. It's a good strong motor and should have the bigger battery. The only issue would be warranty with it being 2018. If it's brand new from a store you should be fine but if you would be the second owner it may not have any warranty.

Knoxville, Tn?
I had my Levo cut power a couple of times and the red light flashed.
On inspection of the plug there was blue corrosion around one pin on the male and female sides. I cleaned it s up hopefully that was the issue.
I think this is the worst plug design and placement for a ebike .
Was it the plug on the tcu or the battery connection plug ?
how is it on chunky rooty natural trails? Or on steep stuff?
It handles steep climbs and chunky stuff really well. The weight of the bike helps it stick to the ground better. The only issue i really found when climbing was in those moments when you stand up of you have the bike in turbo it will spin out since your weight is forward.
UK2USAMTB You know you can adjust that in settings on the Mission Control app you didn’t really talk about that in your video and how adjustable the bike is it’s amazing also you can adjust how the motor responds you said it felt like you kept going when you stop pedaling and almost drove you off the trail there’s an adjustment for that too
i wait for the day when i can afford one of these
They are becoming slightly more affordable over time. They are worth every penny
UK2USAMTB definitely worth it although the higher one for like 12000 are a bit much
@@fredsbonk6647 yeah the sworks is a little over priced lol
Cycle scheme
is it still working?
It is still working and going strong.
Great review!!!
Another reviewer went through 3 motors in the first 4 months of ownership... how is your motor holding?
Cheers
🍻🍻

The bile actually isnt mine. I work for a bike shop that sells specialized but so far the motor and battery have helf up well and not needed to be replaced.
@blazinBlades
I hear lots of issues with motor, more so than other brands albeit service and warranty are top notch no one likes the hassle of waiting for warranty claim.
adrianapaulista Thanks
I’ll wait a couple more years till they work out all the kinks.
@@BlazinBlades I got the 2020 base model a month or so ago. Just go for it. So much fun. I was cognizant of some motor issues but believe the aftercare offsets those previous problems. Specialized renewed their Brose contract so should be fine. So glad I went for it. Feel like a kid again.
👍
How much will a replacement battery cost?
They cost about $800 - $1000 depending on the size.
Did you know the battery range miles for a full ride in boost mode...? 20-25 miles ??
If its a mostly flat ride with very little climbing then maybe 20 miles the more climbing and steep hills you add the lower it will go. I did 32 miles using all modes and still had 40% left
I am on about 50% after 18KM doing genuine trails. 500W battery on Turbo. The bike is so heavy that Turbo is usually the one needed. It really is super-heavy.
What dirt trails did you go on?
I rode trails at Baker creek preserve. I rode all the trails out there. Cruz valley, barn burner, best medicine, Floyd fox and devil's racetrack.
Can u use the bike with out the power turned off??
Yes the assist can be turned off so you can pedal unaided
UK2USAMTB thank u very much!!!
How about that fork? Is it any good?
The fork felt good. It offered good support and didnt seem to have any real issuses. It did feel like it had alot of stiction as it first compresses but that was all
@@uk2usamtb421 Owkey, thanks! Think i'm getting 1 just like this: :)
Don’t touch what you can’t afford 🙏
Considering the 2020 Levo Comp vs 2020 Kenevo Comp. My riding time is 60%flow trail as your video / 30%technical trail descends / 10% Bike Park. Do you feel is a nice bike for technical descends too?
I do think the levo is good at everything. I have ridden it on some more techy decents and it handles it fine. The only thing I can see causing an issue is at bike parks with lifts/shuttles. The weight is going to make it difficult to pick up and load onto whatever system they use. Apart from that in my personal opinion this bike can do it all with ease.
What size do you ride? How tall are you? Txs.
@@danrodcr I am 5ft 9 and i ride a medium. I could ride a large but i feel the medium is more nimble
Yeh its cheating but look at the fun you'll have and how many more runs down your favourite downhill you can smash- no brainer!
If they use Bosch CX motor, maybe it was worth it...but Brose noooooooo
Lots of videos about "cheating" which I don't understand. Cheating at what?
I've got that base 2020 model. Crazy fun. I'm in my 40s and feel like a kid again. Best 4 grand I've ever spent (but only because my oled TV was slightly cheaper).
@Milk2Percent I didn't get direct from Specialized. The price had come down with the 2021 model around the corner (back then). I rounded down a little too. Stupid money for a bicycle but lots of fun if you can afford it.
It does feel like cheating. It is cheating. Having said that, I enjoy my Levo.
That trails’s definitely not for a beginner!
There is a good mix of trails in that area for all skill levels.
The motor will breakdown with in three months.
I have been working on these bikes for a while and no motor issues yet.
@@uk2usamtb421 if you're thinking of buying any levo, you might want to read the forums regarding motor failure.
@@donjon1733 I keep an eye on them. I also have the advantage of being a trained e bike mechanic trained by specialized and I haven't seen many levo motor failures not saying there isn't any
If you enjoy walking, its worth it. Motor failures well documented!!!!!
I know its fun but there's a lot of problems with these motors apparently..
I can only talk from my point of view. I have been working on these bikes since there release at a specialized dealer and so far not a single motor issue but again thats just my experience.
I'd say not really, owning a Turbo Kenevo, unless you have plenty of cash and don't much notice. It is just too much and overall provides a similar experience to normal bikes, in that you are literally in the same places, plus being ridiculously heavy. Worth it for old or injured people possibly. You really pay an insane amount for a battery and motor. Yes, it is a lot of fun zooming up hills with hardly any effort but you always know it's a cheat. Mostly I think we all need to justify our purchases (mine was $9500) and also plenty of MTBersd have never ridden a motorbike, so for them, they are getting THAT buzz, at alow level.
Everything in this video is the same or better on a 9kg hardtail.
100 % guarantee your motor or battery will die within the first year. All my pals and myself have had either one die within the first 10 months. Pretty bike but total crap.
Cheating? What a crock!
The e-bike is a different thing altogether, or rather, same-same but different.
A bit like 15 a side rugby verses 10 a side, or test cricket verses 50 overs.
Essentially the same game, played differently, yet the effort the same.
The e-bike is a gift from God to those old farts who love to roll down but can no longer get it up.
God and Specialized- a match made in Heaven!
Sadly, I cannot afford one, so instead fantasize while peddling...this video is pure porn...
To easy! Get out of here!
