Thanks so much for explaining what to do so clearly. I have a Sony surround sound system that was purchased back around 2004. I was trying to connect it to my Samsung smart tv. I didn’t want to purchase a converter box because I already had RCA cables. Your video allowed me to seal the deal! Thanks again!

I have a question about this. I want to hook my modern TV to an old Marantz amp. The TV indeed has an RCA L/R out and Optical out. I assume that would only provide broadcast signal audio from whatever local VHF signals. However, I also thought TV signals are digital now so does the audio portion matter? Lastly, we also primarily use a Roku for streaming apps so I'm not sure how to extract audio from it and get it into my old amplifier. I would assume most people would be facing these same two exact issues. Local broadcast audio and then audio from a streaming device.

I tried to get tv sound to my receiver by way of a digital to analog converter and just got noise..Just using RCA jacks I now can get stereo sound from the TV cable box and from my DVD player. Problem is getting CZcams sound to my analog receiver. I'm guessing I could do that by way of outputting sound from the 3.5mm analog headphone jack and go to an input on my old Pioneer analog receiver. Problem is, I can't locate he 3.5mm analog headphone jack. I've got a 43" HIsense Roku TV.. I'm getting TV and DVD videos by way of HDMI.

Are there any vintage receivers that will connect to tv and use a 3.1 speaker set up ? If so. Can you give me names of units plz ty

Look for a receiver that is 5.1 and just don't hook up the 2 rear speakers. That will give you the 3.1 you are looking for. I like Denon and Onkyo receivers.

No problem, it should have RCA ports. If your new TV with Bluetooth does not have the RCA ports, then you can buy a Digital to Analog Audio Converter.
