You don't actually need the power on this adapter despite what the box says. I think that the usb port is left over from the design of the RCA to usb adapter. For anyone looking to buy this item, it works, however text is very hard to read.

I have the same converter and I have a 14 "Sony Trinitron CRT connected to my pc via HDMI, I use it for retro games, by default the device forces my TV to show 720p screens although I understand that technically it cannot with both the TV What I did was configure as the 2nd monitor with 640x480 resolution and it seems to be working fine, am I forcing something?

I'm trying to connect a refurbished Toshiba DVD/ VCR recorder combo, but don't know if my MINI is a compatible adapter. I also don't understand why the PC HDMI input doesn't serve as a power source to begin with. Then, if I get it connected, do I need an app or video software to play tapes / discs.

I am using an old TEAC Audio/Video Surround Receiver (ag-v8520) which unfortunately has no HDMI connections. So what I am trying to do is connect my Sony Blu-ray Disc Player (BDP-S3700) to it so that I can watch video with sound from the Sony's USB Flash Drive input. I have been able to do this by connecting the Sony through the use of Coaxial Digital Cable to RCA Adapter into the receiver's DVD/Video 3 RCA connection. This has allowed me to watch and hear anything except 1080p in mkv format. Mp4 is no problem, nor is 720p mkv. So I am wondering if you know of anyway I might also be able to get 1080p in the mkv format? Thanking you in advance for all that you do to help us electronics dummies. :)
Nevermind. :) Sometimes I just don't think. All I have to do is change (rename) the extension from mkv to mp4 (they're basically the same container) and everything plays just fine.

When going from HDMI to RCA there is data loss because HDMI can transmits various types of data like HD Video, Surround sound etc. Where as in RCA only Video and stereo audio is available. So we wont be able to convert the signal the other way around as there not enough data.
These don't always work. I tried my Sony DVD to 3 different TV's using hdmi to RCA connector adapter I tried one adapter from Amazon and one from Walmart and it doesn't work when setting TV's up to HDMI port. Old RCA cable works fine with two of the TV's, but new TV's now have only HDMI ports. Maybe some older dvd players are just not compatible using it's RCA ports. I have a coax( RCA like out) and a Svideo out on the dvd player.... maybe there's another work around.

I have an old DVD/VCR Magnavox with RCA cables in the back and a Samsung 4K smart tv that only allows HDMI there are no RCA ports at all. I bought a singular chord with the RCA thingies on the end of one side and then the HDMI on the other side to connect them and it won’t freaking work and I tried to call Samsung and they pretty much said there’s nothing they can do about it and it just won’t connect no matter what I do I don’t understand. That's a plug-n-play console, you'd be better off plugging it into a TV, even an old crt.

I have almost the exact same converter and for some reason it's not working at all for my PS2 when it did a few years ago. Guess it's just busted?
I have an old DVD/VCR Magnavox with RCA cables in the back and a Samsung 4K smart tv that only allows HDMI there are no RCA ports at all. I bought a singular chord with the RCA thingies on the end of one side and then the HDMI on the other side to connect them and it won’t freaking work and I tried to call Samsung and they pretty much said there’s nothing they can do about it and it just won’t connect no matter what I do I don’t understand. My Chord doesn’t have this box
RCA, AV and Composite are the same thing right?
