    WHAT IS TALK HEATHEN?
Talk Heathen is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared toward long-form and on-going dialogue with theists & atheists about religion, theism, & secularism. Talk Heathen is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
Talk Heathen is filmed in front of a live studio audience every week at the Freethought Library of the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop & support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing & friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of government-religion separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists & to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

ALL religious people want something from their god. If there was nothing to get they wouldn't give a rats ass about their god. This religious fruitloop caller said (paraphrasing) she was in a bad place so she lacked and she wanted. Then she concocted a story that her god came to her in her dream sending her a sign that her god exists. So now with the delusion that her god exists she can take what she wants from her god all to make herself feel better and get something from her god. Even though there is no proof of her god she needs to believe there is so it gives her emotional security during her troubled life.

@@gregsanich5183 Your cynicism is real and I wholeheartedly disagree with it. I’m not saying making money and be entertaining aren’t factors. But to put this show solely in those two baskets is painfully ridiculous, respectfully. This show imo is also about educating and training folks on how to think critically, especially on religion.
99.99% of the shows on CZcams aren’t on there to be altruistic and they shouldn’t have to be. We live in a capitalistic society. folks have food to buy and bills to pay, and I’m sure they have operating costs. So using making money as some sort of negative, especially in this case, seems kinda dumb.
Also, of course, they want to be entertaining. You do we live in attention economy where we have thousands of shows competing for eyeballs, right? But to say these guys are screening calls just so they can speak only to radicalize evangelical dumbasses is painfully ridiculous and mind numbingly conspiratorial.
There’s this trend now of folks luxuriating in cynicism at every turn. Even when it’s not necessary or warranted. It’s like folks are drunk on it. To the point where it turns off the critical thinking parts of folks’ brains.

This discussion about free will in Heaven is interesting to me because I know someone who keeps quoting a part of the Bible where it basically says you won't be you anymore in Heaven and that you will be required to praise god ALL THE TIME for eternity. That's all you get to do. And yet somehow, he' finds that comforting. It's hard for me to understand that, because that doesn't sound like a nice place to be at all.
I have had atheist discussions with him before, and at one point, I mentioned to him how the Bible actually condones slavery (he actually wasn't familiar with that part of the Bible, but to his credit, he didn't try to argue about it or justify it) and he admitted he didn't want to question god because he was so beat down by all the racism he's had to deal with his whole life, that he has no hope it will ever get better and Heaven is the only hope he has left. But in many cases, it's religion that's keeping things from getting better. Racists used the Bible to justify slavery and prejudice. Same with sexism; I found it a little frustrating the caller completely missed your comment that she's going against god's commands by teaching men right now.
