- The "unable to verify this battery is genuine" is hands down one of the most annoying messages you can get after repairing your phone. In this video, we go over how to bypass this message and how difficult it really is. The Important Battery Message is not here to stay. Are you willing to put in the extra work to get your battery health to reappear?

Good on you for finding a way to get rid of that annoying “unable to identify genuine Apple battery”
I owe that to China
REWA did that first like 2 years ago but still ist good to be on this channel
@@PhoneRepairGuru hahaha
Where I work were doing this for over 2 years. Sometimes it results in swollen battery’s when not soldered properly.

Imagine if Apple weren’t so stuck up and just allowed people to do what they want with the devices THEY OWN.
I hope this becomes law everywhere on cars/phones/gadgets etc one day
Fun experiences and good for the environment.

@@user-uf9ke9tm2w Money* freaks
They do let you do what you want, having a message saying unauthorised does not impair functionality at all. Only consumer trust, which is messed up in itself but can be explained

The fact that Apple wants you to perform near brain surgery on a PHONE to repair it makes me afraid for the future of repairs.
apple makes the best products ever i hate android sure they may be faster and more secure but all i want is that apple logo for that status fuck off
I’m so scared, my iPhone was on low storage and then went on this infinite boot loop. Everyone I hard restart the iPhone displays the “unable to verify message” and then wont let me type in my passcode before going through the infinite loop stage again. It’s so frustrating.
They will be FORCED to change their shady way to control the market and even to change the way they are making their product !
You will see.
Mark my words !
Wow, shocked to see it takes so much to deal with this example of Apple's anti-repair antics. I had assumed you could just reprogram the BMS just like how the display is reprogrammed to restore True Tone and get rid of the 'genuine display' message.
Anyway, have a good one! Been addicted to your videos for the past couple weeks 👍
For display u can only get the true tone back if u are to use that device not getting rid of the annoying pop up message
So much for apple being “environmentally friendly”
And it makes it *LESS* environmentally friendly
True!
It’s pretty clear when battery gets a bit tired on your current phone apple is very happy for you to chuck your phone in the bin and buy a new one.
@@mikldude9376 I still like apple, but because of this I will only buy their oldest iPhone that they sell
I buy secone hand. :) they didn't get my money

I imagine, as you do more of these it'll become super easy for you. Thanks for sharing!
Argument against right to repair:
We don’t want people to damage their devices by replacing components, so we’re gonna make them cut the battery apart in order to fix their device

@@missachin5054that sounds like it’s the memory chip failing causing the bootloop. Unless a repair shop can confirm or fix your best option is data recovery and scrapping

I was saying to myself when you cut the board off the battery, "don't cut both at the same time!". Glad you mentioned that later, and showed what happens when you do 😄👍
Oh good lol I yelled about that too
and the battery said clearly not to short it
Him: The goal is to remove it without damaging it
*proceeds to recklessly cut the battery😂*
I don’t think you understand. First of all, he cut the the tabs attached to the bms board, not the battery. Second, that battery was bad and broken. Last of all, it wasn’t reckless, he carefully cut the tabs.

In reference to 2:45,
I think there are certain ceramic scissors that should be used to prevent any issues with sparking. This would be in case the anode and cathode make a circuit via the scissors snipping it.
Or if the battery is damaged, certain ceramic scissors wouldnt cause a spark that could ignite anything.
Thoughts and opinions? Thanks for making this video. I learned some neat things.
The editing in this video is outstanding, would love to see more videos like this one

Hey PRG, nice video (as always :D).
To everyone reading this:
Make sure not to short the anode and the cathode in the process of cutting the old BMS from the old battery with your scissors, otherwise you might end up with a destroyed BMS.
So cut them separately :)
not just a destroyed BMS, you could have a fire.
@@douglasrogers4675 and battery explosion
When he cut both ends at the same time was fine, but in the end he cut only one and did damage the board, why that happened?
So, it's a 'death trap' from apple for everyone who try to fix this phone.

Videos like this and others related to the iphone 13 repairability makes me glad that I went for the 12 last year (still bad repairability wise but not as bad as iphone 13), but at the same time this kind of stuff makes me worried about future iphones..and maybe even androids
Yes other companies follow what Apple do
Don’t short anode and cathode together, big no no. But you will have to learn micro soldering if you want to replace 13 screens as the IC chip needs swapped from the old screen to the new 🤬
The capture at 0:51-0:58 looks near CGI it's so good. Excellent job!
Few months back I did the same thing with my Nokia Lumia 930 which went into bootloop and then completely dead. I had lot of photos and videos to recover. And I could not find the battery with appropriate connector so I removed the Board from battery and used a powerbank's battery, since I didn't knew how to connect as solder would not stick to it I poked a hole through both terminal strip and used thin wires to connect both the terminals to and then solder the tip of wires to the board. Was enough to recover data. Great to see this method work. 😄
Love the fact that you’re talking about how and why this has happened and that you’re telling us how to do this without any damage

Speaking of which… I have a question, my iPhone 8 Plus is slowing down because the battery is old. Apple says that the performance will go back once the battery is replaced, but will it still restore the performance if the job was not done by an Apple technician? (Ie the new battery’s data didn’t match the original?)
If you don’t change the board over the red-flagged ‘Important Battery Message’ will still disappear on its own after 14 days. The battery health function doesn’t come back though, but it’s not that important (or accurate) anyway..
I wonder if changing the date back 14 days before swapping battery will expedite this message to go away
15
@@dannylones2159 Yes, the warning message will turn off after _15_ days. Don’t know if setting the time back first will work, didn’t try it..
Yeah. I had the battery health say that I had 84% but I only had 69%... Another time it said 89% but it was actually 92%.
@@HailAnts not sure if this has been tested ever, replacing my iPhone 11 battery here soon and gonna attempt to try changing the time

I have several questions on the process:
1. How do I tell which is the anode and cathode? I don't want to mess up my BMS...
2. Did you need to use an activation board to get the new cell with old board running? I heard that would be needed.
3. What setting did you use the QianLi Spot Welder on? I have that thing laying around here but didn't dare to use it on an actual battery yet...
This was the best video in a while. Have a great day everyone!
Hi Mr. Guru it’s me again XD. The BMS transfer only works on the XS generation models, on the 11 and newer apple encrypted the BMS so just a transfer won’t work, you will also need a tag on flex in order to be able to reset the battery stats with a programmer
I have the programmer and the tag on flex for the newer models. Appreciate the info though 🙏
Took me ages to find this comment lol. I don't think anyone in comments knows this.
Amazing.Thank you for the video.
Is this possible for the camera message? I cracked my cam module and sometimes it fine and sometimes I’m in a low quality camera state.
Well done! But you shouldn't have to do this sort of thing just to change a battery.
Dude right Apple is a fucking piece of shit😂
Why
They have managed to make a battery replacement something that could actually be dangerous
I remember the old days when you could just unclip the back off your android phones and then just drop a new battery in and snap the back on , and your phone instantly had fresh battery in it so easy with no fuss , and it took about 20 seconds .
Isn’t progress wonderful ????
@@mikldude9376 new phone came out like that, and the framework laptop exists, progress
I’m planning to change the battery on my second hand 1st gen iPhone SE. Do I need to do this or can I replace it just like normal?
I was wondering if that would work. I changed the battery in my 2nd gen SE about a month ago and had that battery message hang around in my notifications for a few days and then the message stayed in settings for a couple of weeks before it finally chilled out and now just shows when I look at the battery usage and of course the battery health is disabled, but the phone is working great.
It absolutely is worth it. It’s a “fuck you” to Apple every single time you use he phone and the battery works without complaint.
If that doesn’t get you all hot-and-bothered at the thought of it, you aren’t alive.
I wasn’t aware it was possible for someone to go in and manually adjust the battery health capacity. Lots of refurbishers on eBay and Amazon (even Amazon themselves) like to advertise their refurbished phones have around 80-90% battery capacity, but if that can just be modified, then, at best, people could be sold a phone with a bad battery
i think it just clears the battery health, which needs to be calibrated again. the battery chip detects and then updates the actual health over time
I just got a refurbished 12 pro max from my cell provider aside from it being a nuisance to see with the infinite red dot does it cause any performance or software issues?
Hi I really enjoyed your video bro I just got to ask a question how can I check my broken screen phone logic board I just need to know if it's worth buying a screen for it

Hi, love your work! So, I am sure you get this question alot, but I will ask anyway. Do you ever have apple repair sent to you from France? I have an ipad air2 2019, I bought in the US, and it's screen has lines. I dropped 6mths ago, so I guess that is why. It will open okay for 2mins, right when I think it is okay. Then it gets flickering lines, and shuts off the screen.
I am a English teacher here in France and I use it for work. I have not found work for 10mths, hard for teachers with no contract. Anyway, I am just beside myself trying to figure out how I can get it repaired. Can you advise me?
You actually have to activate the phone using DC current to the motherboard during first boot, then plug in the battery so the service warning doesn't show up.
I'm pretty sure that you can unsolder these pads with regular soldering iron, then solder them to the new battery.
I might be wrong but its worth trying
Applying to much heat may damage the battery.
They aren't soldered, they are spot welded.
And like the guy above said, soldering directly to the battery can damage it because of the large amount of heat. That's why they are spot welded.
@@LazorVideosDestruction Yep. Thats the main reason why you want to use a spot wielder. Extreme heat or prolonged exposed on high heat will kill or destroy or lower the life expectancy of a battery. Hence you do not want to solder a battery. Specifically on a lithium battery.
@@prettyhard0150 You also can't properly solder those connections anyway. lithiun cell are never solderded, you always spot weld them
@@LazorVideosDestruction yes, but the pads on the protection circut are soldered to the board itself and then welded to the battery tabs, tried this on my Dualschock 3 when i was changing the battery i got from DS4 and the boards were different.
for iPhone SE 2020 what version of icopy I need to use? and in another video I saw that need a new connector that will connected to the battery and then to the iPhone to set cycle to 0, can you explain me this ? thanks
After a very long time, you finally released a video😀👍
Yes
Ledgend has it that all this time he was trying to get the battery message to go away
Apple: Replacing batteries is dangerous, users shouldn't do this on their own (IMPLEMENT BATTERY SERIAL VALIDATION)
Users now: Instead of just plugging in the new battery are operating on pure cells and BMS (and THIS actually can be dangerous)
🤦♂️
Can you use a tool like you usually use on your screens that transfer the code over to the new one will that work or you never tried that cuz I'm just asking a question
What strength do you use with the Spot Welder? I think I've the same one and there are 5 different steps. I think you use a rather low one right?
I told you You could do it Bro Thanks for believing in yourself 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Your videos are amazing and so articulate!! Well you have to be when dealing in electronics.
I have a iPhone 14 Pro Max and when taking the old battery out damaged a flex cable behind the battery that had sticky adhesive protective covering over it. The flex cable goes across both sides of the phone width wise. Plus protective adhesive covered it over. I cannot screenshot or turn off my iPhone now so would this be the Volume , On / Off Flex cable that I need for my iPhone 14 Pro Max?
Keep up the good work
Where did you get the battery with out the chip? And that spot welder you used?
Hi Mate, what is name of this spoter? Maybe model?
Thanks.
U have tought me a lot in the phone repairing side and thanks to you i started repairing devices too tho its mainly family and friends, but its a skill that jas come in handy a lot more than i thought 😂wow people ik break their phones easily
Omg that crunch was epic !
WHat was the spot welder you used and where can I get one? Many thanks,
Couple of years ago I tried that with my broken dell laptop battery. Unfortunately with premium dell laptops. They have installed a fuse that wipes the battery info from the bms so even if you re use the fuse the new cells wont have the required info. So even putting in the bms from identical battery wont allow current. Battery stats dead.
So I need a Qianli spot welder? Can’t I use any spot welder? What was wrong with the first one you used? How did you damage the pads?
I love your fixing phone videos
*Good job bro!*
I knew this trick from rebuilding laptop battery packs, on those the BMS needed to be powered when you switched over from worn cells to new ones. For some reason it freaked out if you removed power completely, so it was quite hassle.. First time seeing someone even mention about switching the BMS over to new cell on phone battery
hi bro, if I don't have the connector from the original battery? Is there a solution to fix the battery service problem?
The video quality has increased thanks
Hey im gonna need a iPhone battery replacement soon. U mind telling me where i could ship it in for repair with the BMS Trasferres
Can the spot welding be substituted with soldering it in place?
Do you need to do the same for iPad battery replacement’s?
I saw that coming…. Metal scissors across both terminals…. Love the flash to a test screen….. made me laugh….. appreciate the effort to “restore” 3rd party repair. Nice videos….
Great Tech Video
The QuanLi Spot Welder, where did you pick that up? I could really use something like this to finally get to work on my DIY eBike.
Being doing this since a long time now
And if you aren't able to access a spot welder just use soldering iron instead( if you've knowledge about what you're doing )
Have done this with a samsung phone too
Took out high capacity samsung note battery and squeezed in a S series one.
soldering those connections is a bad idea, as you usually cant properly solder those materials. It's spotwelded from factory for a reason.
Hey Phone Repair Guru are you doing any giveaways anytime

videos are awesome 👏
Is there a way to do it without the original battery? Just saw a video that shows how to copy the screen serial without the original but was wondering if something can be done re the battery.
Take the bms
Spot wield it
Erase the memory of battery
Reset the phone
Problem solve
I was thinking
And u have done it 👏
I mean it’s not really worth reprogramming the whole battery but it is soothing to not see that annoying battery message lol . Cool video tho I learned something new about iPhone battery connections lol.
Absolutely worth it. Some of the things i don't trust on replacement batteries are their fake cut down bms lacking a lot of protections. If they cut down to much and emulate fake parameters for the phone it can explode. Like suppose the battery is over heating but the bms has no temparature sensor so it's just sending a false reading and then kaboom .
Bad....ass..... gotta give it to you for trying again and getting it! I def didn’t think that was possible. Impressive 👏
