In the winter of 2019 I traveled to the rotten old shed that served as my storage unit on a remote piece of property in the Olympic Peninsula region of Washington State. I went there to search for one of my old high school binders so that I could film a flip-through video for CZcams.
While I was searching through the dilapidated mess, I came across a long forgotten wooden box filled with some of my old art, Star Wars collectibles, music collectibles from the 80’s hair metal era and the 90s grunge rock era, high school notebooks and binders, letters and more.
In this video I will take you on a tour of this long lost box of memories with backstories, photos and video clips from the time!

Am I the only one who gets the nostalgic feeling so strong sometimes it actually hurts? I so wish I had hung on to more things from my childhood to pass on to my kid. Ironically, she adores the 90’s and I could have had so much cool vintage stuff to give her.
Absolutely! Your not alone
No. It hurts me sometimes too... I miss those years. I wish I could go back to that time.
Your definitely not alone!! It's the most strange horrible ache!!
I get that feeling to all the time . Not sure if I like that feeling or not. Wish I had a time machine
@@brianredban9393 Me 2 I don't like the feeling it's actually made me cry instead of feeling happiness in the memory it's a sadness of what's gone! It's such a bizarre yucky feeling! and a time machine absolutely!!
Damn dude, you experienced more in high school than I have my entire life
Kids that grew up in the 70s-90s were much more active and motivated to do things
He peaked in high school
Oh my... those Star Wars figures are EXTREMELY valuable.
Life was so different yes. You guys are right. I'm 51 now and growing up in the 70s 80s n 90s was really interesting and fun. Watching the styles and vibe of things change...went from the dusty groovy 70s to loud tacky 80s then grungy 90s...Truly great times to see and be in the middle of. Music fashion and skateboarding was my thing. Love those years. Thank you for sharing this video!
I'm 52 and I'm glad I grew up in the 80s
Your life in the 80s was beyond EPIC! I was growing up then too..I remember those special feelings that can never be replicated today 😊
I know. Ft.Lauderdale Spring Break and Hollywood Sportatorium for Diary of a Madman. Miss those stupid innocent days.
...If I had my own personal "Hot Tub Time Machine" I would go back to 1985 and never come back :)
America as a white majority. Will never happen again.
I would give my right teste to go back an relive the eighties as an adult it was such a fun time to be a kid but all the adults seemed happier aswell.
That's because we were young.
who says hoarding is a mental illness? Len's hoarding has provided us with endless entertainment
Indeed 💜
This isn’t Hoarding……
It’s bizarre, somehow kids in Washington state in the 80’s seemed to have rare access to video cameras (I’ve seen multiple videos on CZcams from different people who were teens in the 80’s and they’re all from Washington). I’m 42, grew up in Columbus, Ohio. NO ONE had video cameras when I was young. Not even adults, let alone teens. Maybe it’s just the difference in wealth, as I grew up in poverty. Regardless, I’m glad you and other kids somehow made videos back then because it’s very nostalgic.
Also, my initials are JLR. So that is a great song.
Pretty much nobody had a video camera in my town, not even adults. I just happened to live near a video rental store that had a camera u could rent for like $10 for the whole weekend
@@LenEnders Oh wow, that's really cool. We didn't have anything like that, and I'm probably glad in retrospect, lol.
@@LenEnders that's badass! In Lubbock we have recording studios we can rent
I'm from Washington and still have the same camera I had in the 80's. An uncle that my brother and I didn't even know died and had left us a little money, so I bought a video camera with cash, it was $1200, that's a lot of money for a camera, especially in the 80's. I took it with me everywhere. Got footage of us goofing off, partying, cruising, going to the record store, all kinds of stuff! I only have a couple of the tapes left, last time I saw them was in 1990 when I put them in the trunk of a girl's car and never saw them again.
@@LenEndersDude you rented a camera and documented your entire teens with it? You were way more resourceful than me.
It's amazing how similar small town America is whether in the far North West in Washington or in South Eastern Massachusetts. Insane. Watching this is almost like watching a parallel universe of people and happenings in my own town and circles I ran in during the same time frame.
Now, this is what you call PURE LIFE!! This is what I ve been always craving for in my whole entire life....This seem like a fantasy for me...The vibe was incredible! It was a very different world compared right now..... Wish I was born on this era, on this fantastic decade! Wish I had experienced this as a teenager.... I envy those people who grew up or live in the 70s 80s or 90s where everything was real fun and had no social media or freaking cellphones! .. They didn't know how lucky they were.... Thanks for this video, this is the closest time machine especially for young ppl like me.
Btw, Im just 18 yrs old and born on '04.
When you think about it really isn't that different
@@htesreyzaw6114 It was different. The 21st century has been a dark age so far.
@@htesreyzaw6114 it is different. Frankly I'm tired of hearing people dismiss how much social media etc has changed the world, and people, and how they interact with each other.
I was lucky enough to grow up in the 90s. I was an instant tech nerd, so I always looked forward to technology improving and couldnt wait to get to the "future"....oh my, how I got what I wished for. Only, as soon as the tech improved society lost its damn MIND and now we live in a souless, Woke dystopia. I hate mainstream modern culture, and look back fondly on the 80s, 90s, and early 00s.
Elaine Perry Dude it's so crazy you commented this. Word for word that's exactly how I feel about it. I was born in 2000. I'd give a pinkie to have been a 80s teen.
Young people hanging out and socializing and it was a real concern. I feel like we need that right now I don't know what bugged people so much about it.
some people just don't like fun especially if its teenagers, doesn't matter if their outside talking or inside playing video games, making music, skateboarding ext... "they need to stop cause my life sucks and theirs should too"
I remember that, us kids would hang out at the park and jump our bmx bikes. The town was going to bulldoze our ramps, and my adult neighbor stood in front of the bulldozer to fight for us. He even ran as mayor! But other hangout spots were for smoking, drinking, and hooking up. I could see the issue with that lol.
😊
@@buildingwithtrees2258 i remember my brother would take me to these jumps that were made by teens. They were awesome and very risky so kids would always be bustin their faces. Because of that some neighbor hood a hole decided to rent a construction plow and bulldoze it. Such a waste.
@buildingwithtrees2258 your neighbor was awesome ❤
I was born in 1971 and grew up in Ohio. A lot of these items were very nostalgic for me. Thanks for sharing.
Your channel deserves to be viral! You're creative, talented, funny, a great artist, and know how to keep people on the edge of their seats. You're a great film editor. You make the viewer feel like they were actually there with you and your friends in the 80's.
Thank you SOOO much!!! 😊
@@LenEnders Subscribed! The adventures of that Era were so much more then kids of the same age today..they are so involved with their phones that they miss opportunities everyday.
I now feel like my childhood was normal.
Blacklight posters and the collection of all things important to a child of the 70's.
Dude you are so damn talented!!!!!
I will celebrate your Oscar in the next few years. Do not stop what you are doing.
AMAZING.......THANK YOU THANK YOU!
So welcome!!!!
You're awesome Len!
Oh my God, that JLR, song and story is totally killer man. I laughed so hard I absolutely love it man.
JLR sounds like he put the lotion on the skin.
Derrick is a fucking legend for having the initiative to sneakily record the JLR video. Here's to you Mr Derrick! I want to see this video in its full glory. I love shit like this and even have a pretty similar story believe it or not.
i honestly did not think I would have sat through the entire video. I normally just scroll past longer videos because my anxiety doesn't let me sit that long. but I did. and wow that's some pretty amazing pieces of history in there !! 🤩
I actually had intense anxiety about this video in the days leading up to and during uploading because I was sure no one would EVER sit through the whole thing & it would be my hugest failure of a video.
I'm so glad u enjoyed it & I thank u for taking the time to comment & let me know 😊❤
Seriously? Your anxious have to concentrate for an hour? Bizarre.
@@aldunlop4622 yeah. It's also why I can't watch TV or play videogames for too long. I start thinking about how much time I'm wasting at it brings more anxiety. I haven't figured out why exactly, and I don't have the money to fix anything haha .
@@PunkieTheGreat sounds like a pain in the ass, maybe you should see a doctor about it.
Your dad seems pretty cool. I see him at the grocery store once in a while 😂
You really see Lens dad at the grocery store??? How about Len himself? Ever see him?
That Nirvana Nevermind Backstage pass must be worth a ton now!!
One hell of a trip down memory lane. Definitely not a lame CZcams timecapsule from the mid 2000s that most people think is nostalgic. Greetings from GB 🇬🇧
Love that you met your mom after 20 years, and that you're still close 💕 You look just like her too 😁 Love these videos Len. Thanks for the nostalgia!
❤❤❤❤
Snapshots in time is all that life is. Make each day worth finding years down the road in some dusty old wooden box. Peace, and love to all 80's head-bangers.
Time sure does fly bye.I graduated in 87 now I’m old with 3 kids 11 grandkids. But will never forget growing up in the best time to be young. Thanks Len for bringing back time. Look at the world today30 yrs later and wonder why so many get butt hurt they wouldn’t had made it in our days. Thanks from an old man in southern Indiana
Huh? I graduated in 1986 and I’ve got ONE 10 year old child!!! How can you have grandkids?!
@@aureol40012 I think she had her 3 kids few years later which that makes them older to be parents of her 11 grandkids
Sometimes people have a family really early:))
This is actually amazing man, damn I miss the 80s and 90s. I wish I still had some of my old stuff. Great video, far out ✨✨✨✨
As someone who collects, buys and sells vintage clothing and toys. GIVE ME THAT HAT AND TOWEL. I’ll also need that Crue tees. 😂
Awesome video man. Total time warp.
Hahaha glad u enjoyed it! 🤘
Didnt feel like 46 minutes watching this. Thanks for documenting all of this. I was born in the mid 90's and I have always been curious how things were before my time.
I gotta say, some part of me is really envious of how your generation grew up. But to a certain degree, I'm glad things are easier to access these days.
Regardless, thanks for giving us a glimpse of how things were back in the days.
Wait, what?! This was 46 minutes long? I watched the whole video...you're right. It didn't feel as long. This was like watching a documentary and I enjoy those.
Your edited skill for 80s teenager is hilarious, keep em coming
I was in my 20s living in Seattle In the 90s and I can honestly say I would not have wanted to be anywhere else In the world at that time. It was amazing to be surrounded by all those legendary bands and music.
I'm jealous
Born in 77.
High School 91-95.
We worshiped those bands.
Seen em all fr Nirvana-Soundgarden.
Brilliant. I grew up with older brothers and sisters in the 90's and early 2000's in MA, and I feel like I'm part of this generation..even tho I saw it disappear before I reached high school. I feel like there was a greater honesty and desire for human connection/community. I wish we could come back to that kind of mentality and way of treating each other..
We grew up so different. Your videos are all pretty good! I’m from the 80’s and I can appreciate seeing some authenticity.
I love seeing this trip down memory lane and this makes me feel nostalgic for a time periods I never experienced. But it seemed fun.
Absolutely golden memories of youthful nostalgia!! Most subscribers can really relate to anyone who grew up in the 1980s a huge "time capsule" of forgotten memories!!! Thanks for downloading this video review brings me back to the 1980s!!!! Music, Collectibles, and Whatever can remember!!!
I feel like having a Dereck as a friend would have made everyone's childhood and teenagehood at least 20% better.
I love my generation (i was born in 74') much love to all of you around the country from southwest GA 🤘💪
Dude this is absolute Gold! I was born in 66 in Sydney Australia and the the culture was so similar in the 80s, although my music tastes were wider and we had no American cars.
...I went to that same Crue Concert (well Ozzy too but I was a Cruehead by then) except it was in Toronto in Oct./85. 🤘Cru4Lyf 🤘!!! I'm actually going to see them again 37yrs later on Aug 8th/22.
I love stuff like this...........I am giving away my age but I had/still have a box of stuff like this from the 196os and 70s.....Hippy culture stuff, school newspapers, saved notes passed to me in class, my old cigarette lighters all "Easy Rider" type stuff
Born in 1984 myself, but I can painfully relate to almost everything here haha! Thanks for sharing brother ❤️
Dude life in the 80s and the 90s looks so cool
Because it was
@@KirkLee1983 growing up as a 17 year old in 2022 and watching this video makes me angry at what was , never will i experience true genuine and organic social interactions with people my age. Social media and technology has changed people
@@ledpinkdefsabbathwhokinksd9733 Yes I do feel sorry for your generation. It was such an AMAZING time to be alive!!. NOTHING can ever replicate it or even come close!!. Everyone was happy we all waved to one another and were HAPPY. Everyone got along. We did Christmas like no others.. family time and Holidays were IMPORTANT!!. I can't even put into words how magical the 80s and early 90s were. Playing outside from sun up to sundown with friends etc.. playing guns with friends and flashlight tag, Sledding when it snowed all day until night with ALL the neighbors as we were ALL outside together!!. Stayed out until we heard Mom yelled dinner and we ran home ate then did homework and then watched our favorite TV shows together.. I could go on and on!!.
@@KirkLee1983 sounds like a very genuine and natural time to be alive, similar to the thousands of years of organized civilization before. Only in these last 200 years since the industrial revolution have we advanced so quickly and drastically in technology at least, and only in the last 20 years has the internet made the reality altering impacts that it has, largely socially. All time periods that one could have been born into and existed in would have had there pros and cons like anything, simply existing as a human being with conscious thought is a privilege no matter the circumstance. I am appreciative and grateful to have been born in 2005 mainly because of the person i am, my environment, family, genetics, mental state, and geographic/political location ( USA , Michigan ) allow me to use the tools that i have access too like the internet and other technologies, not only that but the knowledge that mankind has obtained. We have the collective knowledge of humanity at our finger tips, i like to think about aspects of life with a philosophical approach and i owe that to google, reddit, quora, and youtube, without these platforms i wouldn't know of half the things i do now and im incredibly grateful. This being said i acknowledge and recognize that the internet and social media have had extremely detrimental impacts on the younger and even the older generations that have been granted access due to the country and situation they were born into. We can not necessarily make a statement that the internet and social media are inherently bad, for both of those things can be used for greatness and good or corruption and bad, its up to the human using them for thats all the internet is, another tool made by man. The hammer can be used to build a house, or it can be used to kill ... its up to the human wielding the tool to decide.
@@ledpinkdefsabbathwhokinksd9733 no wasnt like any other time I didnt list everything. You missed out big time and the internet has ruined everything. People now adays are programmed so bad its disgusting. Noone is nice anymore to one another everyones in a rush I could go on and on..
This was amazing. Like a trip in a time machine. Oh, and you totally need to do an entire video about the JLR song and play the entire song. I'm sure a lot of people would really love to hear it.
Real surprised you didn’t go to the Nirvana concert. You and Kurt definitely have some similarities especially with the notebooks and stuff! Awesome stuff man!!
Thanks!!!
This is amazing, it puts my "memory box" to shame. I can't wait to crack it open in a few years - I'm still fairly young
So jealous of people like you who lived in areas where things were always going on. I grew up in a town of 600 or so in southern MN with nothing going on. There used to be all of those 80s bands playing at a place called Fox Lake Ballroom but stopped right when I was of age to go to those. Great videos dude.
Bro this was fresh as hell! Len is the cool friend we all wish we had!
🥰🥰🥰
Hey Len, I grew up with one of the guitar players of slipknots little brother Andrew Thomson, Micks little brother. He passed away not to long ago. We were a bit younger than you back in the day but it all started with Gene Simmons and Whitesnake....Than full on thrash-death. It all happened So fast. Those were good times my man! Your vids are priceless! TY!
This is one of the coolest videos I have ever seen in my entire life.
I actually went to the same high school as Rikki (Ream) Rocket and Bobby (Kyukendall) Dall. Although they graduated a year or two before I went there. My dad used to golf with Brett Michaels dad. Never knew until Bretts Dad passed away and my dad went to his funeral. Still loving your walks down memory lane of the years of my childhood!
Whoa that's cool! Glad u enjoyed the vid!!
I’ll forever think of JLR now.
10:44 I used to make maps of everything in my journals. I had maps of my bedroom layout, the house, the neighborhood, the farm where I grew up.
Damn this is incredible, your editing is perfect.
I'm so jealous, you lived the childhood I dreamt about. I was born 1988 , parents divorced, my dad ended marrying my super strict Jehovah Witness stepmom and they raised us with zero tolerance for fun and self expression. It was a very long 16 yrs (the age I moved out of their house because I refused to get a haircut....it was already buzzed, no long hair allowed in JW)
Anyway , I had to hide all my love for Korn,White Zombie, Batman and cool shit.
That sucks that the cult ruined your childhood.
I gotta hear more of the JLR song 😂😂😂 it sounds pretty good for a joke song
Len,Thanks for sharing this internet Gold!
Dude I was born June 16 1971 and lived through the same times as you and wouldn't change it for anything
10:07 This brings back memories from when you would use the WORD OUT function on an electronic typewriter AKA word processor. lol
I didn’t realize how fast 3/4 of an hour had zipped by; this was killer from start to finish. I think I might vooshie some of your past content.

This channel needs to be documented in the national archives brother! I’m not kidding your documentation of a teen in the eighties is unlike anything I’ve ever seen and it’s better than any eighties movie ever made! Even the ones made in the eighties! This shit is the real deal!!! Get goosebumps and certain smells start hitting my nostrils man the nostalgia factor in this one video is insane!!! Even the porno pics from the ladies, man i remember it all!!! You did the one thing all is eighties kids were mostly unfortunate to never do and that is document and save everything man! My biggest regret is not using the video recorder we had more often in the eighties and nineties! God bless you man you’re a CZcams treasure bro…

My parents threw out all my early memorabilia and personal items after I moved out. Baseball cards from the 1970's, record albums I had collected from 1969-1975, underground comic magazines (Zap, Freak Brothers, Heavy Metal), psychedelic black light posters. Stuff that would be worth a lot of money today. Oh well.

The JLR song sounds like a NOFX banger 😂😂😂 I wanna see the whole JLR video
You lived every kids dream back then, I was born in 85, but I loved seeing your memories!

I was born in ‘77, so you’re a few years older than me. You were every kid in the late ‘80s that I idolized, but was secretly terrified of. Except that the metal heads from my hometown in the south weren’t very good people and really were into some messed up stuff.

This is fantastic. You were so smart and lucky to have kept all this stuff.
My era thought it would never end.
I did the same thing in the 80's making maps like that of the neighborhood and such... I think it was our brains developing a sense of direction and layout in a time without GPS apps.
Back then we had to use our imagination and since our minds weren’t
Glued to social media we had free time to come up with stuff. Me and my friends did the same stuff
Nice work Len.
