Why is there such a big range? If it calibrates to the upper end of the scale, does that also mean that it could also be testing blood glucose levels on the high end?
It is a big range, I believe the FDA allows plus or minus 20% for glucose meters. The Contour Next is usually very accurate I wouldn't expect readings to be off my much.
Why does my meter E7 when I put my test strip into the meter. I'm new to this product and package came with test strip. I used them up and got more from pharmacy. They gave me more and they are the same product as Contour. Please help
The range seems to be too high. I tested it when it was new and it gave me a control solution reading of 112, a few weeks later I have been getting unusually high readings and wanted to verify if the meter was off. Tested again with the same batch of strips and the same control solution and got a reading of 136. Both the 112 and the 136 are within range but very different reading with everything else being the same.
Try a different box of test strips, or call the customer service number. Customer service may be able to determine if something is wrong with the meter.
So it’s not going to tell you if your meter is off by a few points? I sometimes get readings in the low 90s. I have never had diabetes and I typically get readings in the 80s, but I have been worried bcuz the internet says new guidelines should be that a fasting blood sugar result of over 83 indicates prediabetes. I eat healthier than 95% of ppl I know. I get at least 10k steps/day but that might change bcuz I may need surgery. Worried that reduced exercise will send my blood sugar higher. If anyone has any thoughts, I’d appreciate it.
Do test after you've slept all night. "Fasting". Should read > < less than 125? 80 is not too low. If it's over 135 after fasting? I believe you should then Talk to your Dr. about pre diabetes.
Control solution I have for Conteour next does jot mention Level 1 or 2. It just says “Normal”. And my test strips have Level 1 and 2 ranges. So, how to understand the test results?
That range can easily include results are nearly normal (under 100) to diabetic (over 125). These meters only seem useful for detecting a full blown issue, not to even measure trends of control prediabetes. Frustrating....I wish there was something more accurate for home use.
Thank you very much I just was diagnosed at 29 and no one explained this to me 🙂👍
@Pharmacist
The dimple in lid of test solution holds perfect amount of solution for testing. :)
Whats the difference between control solution 1 and 2?
Thank you so much very appreciated 💯💪🏽
Thank you for the information. How do you adjust the meter if your test reading is too high?
Thanks for the info
Very helpful !
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for informative video. Apparently my test was OK using a Level 1 Solution.
Hi. Can I use a fastclix lancet with this device instead of the one that comes with it?
I use it with every new canister of test strips in my Contour Next EZ.

@@PharmacistTips But 20% could be big concerning blood sugar and trying to reduce your numbers. Is there ANY meter that can be accurate?
Wish I had watched this first. I would not have wasted 3 stripes. Thanks

You're welcome!
Thanks
I keep trying to use it but only marks a number 3 and thats it
I had a reading done in clinic it was 400 second day it was 222 after i started medications. Now i keep getting E3 on glucometer.
I took my blood sugar using this contour next meter and it was 90 points higher than what my diabetes doctor office reading
do I have to use Contour Next Control Solution only with control test trip ? Can't I use with another brand strip and meter ?
What do we do if the reading is outside of the range for the test solution?
Try a different box of test strips, or call the customer service number. Customer service may be able to determine if something is wrong with the meter.

Prediabetes is not when your glucose is above the 80s. I eat low carb and I believe my meter reads higher than it should. Not just dawn effect.

The strip must be inserted in the meter before blood samples applied? I get E3 or E4
Yes, the strip must be inserted before applying the blood sample.
What are the up and down arrows and the M for on the meter?
That lets you go back and forth through the history in your meter
What was your non porous material that you put the solution on?
Everything 😂
so i connected it but it's showing blinking strip and than E-7? i need help
What does error code 7 mean? ( E7 )

That control solution sounds like it is for a different Contour meter.
I have same device. Is there a way to convert it to mg from mmol? Thanks.
To convert mmol/l to mg/dl, multiply the value in mmol/l by 18. To convert mg/dl to mmol/, divide the value in mg/ dL by 18
I got a reading of 43 but the bottle states reading should be between 112-139!
You have level 1, there is level 2
Oh dearie me! What a fail 2:00 🤦♀️
why is my machine flashing "battery"?
It needs a new battery? 🤔
do we have to use the solution before every use?
No, use for the following, when you first get your meter, each time you open a new bottle of test strips.
That range can easily include results are nearly normal (under 100) to diabetic (over 125). These meters only seem useful for detecting a full blown issue, not to even measure trends of control prediabetes. Frustrating....I wish there was something more accurate for home use.
this guys blood sugar is low for sure, clumsy lmao
Clumsy, just like the rest of us. Great video!!
hahahahahaha😅
the video image is too poor, you need to fix it more
He's so clumsy.
I'm pretty sure he didn't shake it up to 15.
