Thank you so much for your help I'm more of a visual learner and you got straight to the point I got overwhelmed just by skimming through the manual
LOOOOOVE how it says on the box that it's "Ready to use out of the box" and that there are no test strips included. Yep- you're all set to go! Thought maybe someone stole them out of the box at the store but came to this video to find out. Thanks!
Finally after tons of useless videos....someone gave good instructions ...thank you sir
THIS WAS FABULOUS. Never taken my blood and now I can do it by viewing your video. Very, very clear and step by step. Great job!
Thank you for sharing your experience
Thank you very much for going through this. I am completely new to this entire situation and am feeling pretty low about it all, so this simplicity and clarity was extremely helpful to me as well. Your assistance is appreciated, more than you likely know.
Glad it was helpful!

The video helped so much.
Can you show me how to read previously readings?
It’s suggested not getting the first blood but the second after wiping the blood when you poke yourself for accuracy
thank you
You're welcome
Great Video Thank you so much
🙏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💐
nice
Thank you for the video..quick question does the contour next ez have a backlight?
Is there a background light on the tester to help see better at night?
Thank you for the visual. Is there a way to go back and read the results? Say if you forget to write it down (it disapears fairly quickly and i didn't write it down, first time using).
Hi Pharmacist. Please tell me how to see the history of my previously documented Glucose results with the Contour next meter.
Thank You so much! I am new to this and when I gave my blood sample I got a message on the reader that said E-2. I wasted 3 stripes and still couldn't get my fasting #. What am I doing wrong! Ugh!!!!
Usually means insufficient blood drop
Am new with this and I put the test strip in backwards. I put the blood sample side into the machine. Should I find a way to clean that before every using? I did not realize that
Does this device store the numbers with the info? If not, is there a good app to use to track your readings that you would recommend?
my question too!
Does this meter give a 30/60/90 average ?
How do you delete old readings?
I test once I get a high number, I test again I get a lower number. Which one do I trust?
How do you erase readings
What would happen if you ran out of strips and you ate before checking your blood glucose
Anyone know what the 3.5mm jack on the side is for? I lost the manual and never knew about that feature. Thanks in advance.
That is for the optional data cable for downloading readings to a computer.
just got my contour thursday looked and saw the video i saw there was a book option what does that entail
The log book? It is just a place to write down your readings.
how come when i put the strip in a flashing E shows up on my monitor instead of a test strip and flashing blood drop
Is there a number after the E?
Hi. Very good video. I'm looking into purchasing an accurate tester. I was a little shocked that the reading in the easy mode was 119 and then in the advance mode it was 109. Why is that?
So I have had type one since I was born so I’m an expert, so it’s basically telling you what your first drop was at and then your second drop if u had taken one, if not it should stay the same. Sometimes the second time is telling you your alpd blood sugar and the first is ur accurate testing. This is a very good tester and it takes watch batteries! It is super easy to use and I totally recommend it
I too have checked DAILY with meters since they invented them (40+ years), 6-10X/day, and can tell you the slightest * change in testing method will change reading results always within about 10% eg. 100-110, sometimes even more! Expect that + know reading is a range, not an exact number.
"Change" examples:
1). Most notable is time it takes you to get blood from second visible on your skin to meter strip. Try it. 3 secs to 10 secs or longer to get blood on strip and when countdown starts will dramatically change reading!
2). Size of drop of blood. Effects reading slightly. Try it. Place a huge drop of blood dripping off sides of strip and place tiny amount - just enough to have test countdown start. Blood sugar results will vary (slightly).
3). There are More slight changes in testing method that COMMONLY WILL effect blood sugar reading results, often change is 5-10% RANGE, sometimes up to 20% change in results + if your testing method is inconsistent it will change result even higher!
Eg. Sometimes you immediately get drop of blood on strip (less than 2 seconds delay from appearance of blood on skin to on strip + timer begins- And sometimes you wait or it takes you (poor eyesight, poor manual dexterity, or you're just slow, and takes you 15-30 seconds on strip! - Will result in huge change in blood sugar reading.
I've found the longer it takes to get blood on strip the lower blood sugar reading will be.
Maybe later I can add more common reasons why blood sugar test results vary?
Post too long - lol. Hope this helps.
Btw I am IDDM since 1974, age 12 + RN since 1982 (not that being a nurse matters in regards to being an insulin dependent diabetic--> Patient's themselves are best experts in their diabetes + often know more than their HC providers. Everyone's body + needs, etc.is different. Learn all you can but trust your own instincts about managing your diabetes - YOU will usually have best answer - lol.
Having a condition that is present 7 days/week, 24 hours/day automatically turns you into #1 expert on your diabetes,
whether you want to be or not.
Take care + feel free to ask me questions anytime - gailkathryn2 at Yahoo or gmail. btw: I have used probably 100's if different meters for years, my own, hospital's + when I worked in summer at diabetic kids camp. The variations in blood sugar reading results I mentioned above is true for all meters. Blood (and meters) are very sensitive to oxidation (air), temperature changes, etc. Be exact + vigilante in your testing technique + your readings will be most consistent + accurate...And besides a difference in 10 or 20 points really makes very little difference in your overall health,
unless your blood sugar very low - Eg. Huge difference between BS result of 40 + 20. (At 20 you likely would be unconscious + having seizures, 40 reading most diabetics still awake + alert but having s/s of insulin shock)... GOTTA GO. TTYL.
@@14_gailkathryn11Great information. thank you.
do you know how much the test strips are affected when not stored in the supplied container.
I've seen people just put a bunch in their nylon zipper bag along with their needles.
any insight is appreciated.
Can you tell what the approximately 3/32" hole on side is? Maybe speaker, because I never hear my 2 hour alarm.
how you install the batteries
Can you download reading or reports ? Or transfer information reading to a phone or computer ?
The doctor can download it
What are the arrows for
What does E3 mean
Is there a way to access glucose history on this machine?
Does this meter read A1C?
There is also a tiny bottle in the kit that says shake 15 times. When is that used?
That is a fluid used to calibrate the device. Its a solution that has a set sugar level that you can compare the reading the device gives you based on the fluid so that you can discern if its working properly.
@@sonnyz1114 what should the number be when using the Axolotis in the strip? mine registered 164 and that can't be right.
How do you charge it?
How do you access the history?
I have not gotten my machine working. When I pressed the M the machine is on but not hearing any pip.no reading
I want tips control next easy please answer me
How to resete/delete the memory if full?
Can I use another lancing device like the fastclix?
use any device to draw blood
I use a kitchen knife 🔪😅
What battery does this meter use?
It uses two CR2032 Lithium Batteries.
How come I can't just look at previous readings as I need to go over with doctor? TIA
I want to change the time but I always end up in my blood test reading. How do I change the time. Tried to follow the video but couldn't find it. Thank
I love this video but I HATE the Contour Next EZ. I am new to this and so far am 0-7 in getting it to work, every single time it errors. My unit turns off and will not turn back on after a test strip is added in even if there is blood. This video though is only 1 of 2 so far I have found that were easy to follow and miles better than Contour's videos.
dead batteries?
Why are the lancets all different colors?
Does it hurt when you pinch your finger ?
No, it does not.
Depends the number you put it on
Hello im new to this but from what I've been reading it's supposed to be top and bottom numbers so I'm confused can anyone help 😊 thanks
I follow all the steps but I think my machine it’s not working. I am new to contour next EZ . After I insert the test strip immediately shows E 7 on the screen won’t allows me to test.
Is this rechargeable?
No, the batteries are not rechargeable.
Is it ok to just test blood without recording the results in meter. I'm 82 yrs old and just want to be sure my number is not too high
