I just got a OneTouch Ultra 2, didn't come with control solutions but the site has 3 and 4. No clue which to buy and their "helpline" was pretty much useless.
Maybe people do not know what Level 1, 2 or 3 means. Level of what? For those who do not know, the term "LEVEL" is a range of blood sugar. 1 is low (maybe 70 to 110,) 2 is a medium reading (maybe 110 to 160) and if there is a 3rd (maybe above 160). So, "LEVEL" refers to a manufactuer's arbitrary ranges of sugar in your blood sample. Arbitrary because each manufactuer gauges the zones differently. There are National Standards for everything. So, why not a National Standard for "blood sugar" readings.
I talked with Contour Next and their control solution levels (which one to order) Level 1 or 2 (which is indicated on my test strips bottle. The Rep said either level 1 or 2 will test both ranges. Is that correct for Contour Next?
I want to know . Whats the difference if I get Level 1 Nimber on Machine display and it matches with exact range on Strips Box . Vs L2 Number on display and matching L2 range im Strip box ??
Why are the ranges so wide how do you determine if the meter is accurate if it falls in between the correct range but seems like it could still be off. Example Level 2 says 72-97 and solutions says 77 it's on the lower end but could 20 points low if designed to come in on the higher side?
Or those levels on the test strip container L one or L2 only for where the solution range should be or is that for your blood level reading as well that with those specific strips your blood level reading should fall within that range?
I have an Exactive Vital glucometer that comes with a chip. It has started to show some unreal results when I measure my blood sugar, but I cannot find a control solution for that brand. There is no control solution for Exactive Vital? If no, I guess I have to dismiss the meter and buy a new one? The strips are OK. Just opened a new box yesterday. Expiration date in 2024. I hope someone can help me out on these doubts. Thank you in advance.
I have a question, so I bought a new glucose reader and I had some test solutions leftover from my last glucose reader that hasn't expired yet. I tried it on the new machine but got numbers that don't match my new glucose tester ranges but falls into place with the old one. Do I have to buy a test solution that is for this glucose tester or are they all work with another?
I use OneTouch Ultra test strips and the "Control Range", listed on the bottle, is 116-157 which is a 41 point difference. Can a reading be accurate if there is that much of a variance? Is there a meter that is more accurate? I did three test at the same time on three different fingers of left hand and got a 119, 112, 102. not sure what to make of this.
Does it matter which control solution you use, I was sent the level four with my meter but can't find level four to purchase since I have lost the vial and need to do another control. Will the level 3 be fine to use?
Are the control solutions meter specific? I have a new meter that said there was solution with the kit but there was no bottle. My previous meter has some solution different brands of meters. Can it use that solution on my new one?
Why are the ranges on the TEST STRIP bottle??? Do the test strips contain glucose? Shouldn't the control solution have a specific level of glucose so you can verify that the meter and test strips are reading that number?

Those levels are to be used only when using control solution.

Contour next one for the control solution I got told to check Walmart, Walgreen, CVS, Kroger's , Amazon.
Most pharmacies will order control solution for you.

You'll want to buy the test solution specific to your machine for accurate results.

EU code allows 15% hence accuracy is not great.
test ranges are outside eu code which only allows 15% !!

I don't think the level matters too much as long as you are using the correct control solution for your meter..
