this is definitely something you would give a gift to a kid as their first reader ever
this is a must have and ideal for me, I don't mind the lack of glowlight at all, I hope it's available when I get around to buying it
If it had a glowlight, I'd be all over that. My favourite reader was my Kobo Mini, but the touchscreen drove me crazy. I LOVE physical page turn buttons, that's why I bought my Kobo Forma when it first came out. I rarely use the touchscreen, all those tend to do is gather fingerprints.
I agree, there are cons with a touch screen. I'm still using my kobo mini whuch us falling apart from age. I just want the page turn buttons to be close and comfortable and most of all quiet. A pro with this device is that if one button breaks or wears out you have 3x page turning buttons. Perhaps the screen will be clearer to read without touch screen too? Because the touch screen is like a layer on top.
I am also a huge fan of the kobo mini, I just wish it had a light... and mine is also falling apart guys hahah
Lack of a glowlight is the problem for me. Otherwise it is a near ideal device to take on solo pack packing and camping trips, especially in the Winter where the nights are long and you bed down early to stay warm.
Does it only have the 1 font, or are there more to choose from?
Could you comment on how audible use of the click buttons is? Cheers
I kinda like it. No sd slot but secondary storage support, could that be for otg?
It is pretty pricey for what it has to offer, but I've been looking for minimalistic ereaders because the reason I want an ereader is so I have a device I can pick up in the middle of the night when I can't sleep and enjoy a good book, free from the LCD light and distractions of my phone. It's close to what I have in mind, but I I'll pass due to its price, lack of backlight and poor comic experience. I did like the page turn buttons on the sides, it's reminiscent of the Kindle Voyage.
How would a book light look with that screen, cause it looks like the screen has a glossy cover
what would you say is the best pocket sized ereader? I've seen your reviews of Hisense but they seem to be more e-ink phones than ereaders
How come u never have ur manga at full size? You should use kindle comic converter before putting manga on E Ink devices so it can actually fit the screen.
Any links or ideas for a little case for it?
Hey, any news on Huawei's thing?
For Manga it would be cool to get webtoons format on this.
does this thing have a plastic panel instead of glass?
I'd like some thing which like doesnt break with no glass in the e ink panel ?
would be nice for durability
No glass from what I can see, the Danish reseller states that it is a bendable screen. My kobo mini has no glass either, but I tend to drop my stuff, so it has broken on a lot if places in the plastic casing, even though I have ordered a felt sleeve for it. But it is still working after many years, my only ereader.
Can someone please tell me how you upload books to this device? I can't find anything online about how to do this... thank you so much!
Plug it into your computer via usb, and drag and drop content :-)
I really want to buy one but have not the slightest clue how to upload books to it... if anyone has any insight, thank you
this would have been awesome reader with touch screen. small screen means more button clicks, which makes reading for long time reading challenging.
Might have to replace my beloved kobo mini and I don't want anything bigger. Battery life and screen are find, but the quality if KOBOs plastic is horrendous. I have now taped the backpiece onto the device and today a small chip of plastic to the side of the power slide button suddenly fell if. The plastic has aged really badly. Even the plastic covering the "on" - light has fallen of into the device (it was the first thing to break, I repaired it since its to easy to tear it down thankfully). I like that this does not have backlight or Bluetooth / wifi. I always sideload from calibre. I don't like noisy buttons though are the page turning buttons on the sides just as noisy? And yes the price should be like $35. I wonder if we can expect firmware updates, guess not. But there is not much competition, and it doesn't seem to be a big company behind it...Is there actually a black one in existence or not? I live in Sweden so I suppose I could order from the store in Denmark. Buuut my Kobo mini is still breathing. 😁
This is exactly the reader that I've been waiting for for years. But I'd want a backlight. It seems like a bizarre omission.
Yeah kind of a strange unit . But performs... Well.
I haven't even watched the video yet. I was hoping it would be like the Kobo Mini but with a frontlight. Damnations!
@@goodereader Without even a touchscreen this seems strangely dated. The Kobo Mini performs better - if only it had a frontlight!
Inkpalm 5 mini is kinda kind this, but with touch screen
But its like a phone with an e-ink screen behind a glass screen. More fragile and more glare. Also I like that you can easily tear down a kobo mini to repair it, doesn't look like you can with this.
This is an excellent device. Great for travel. The glow light is a miss, but overall seems like it hits the primary goals of a reader. But that price?? I expected fifty, maybe $75. They're up against some big names at that price point.
@@JesusSavesSinners so your phone screen only gets a sentence or two at a time on it? Come on.
It sells for 343RMB in the Chinese market which is $47... so yeah...
Can I read a kindle books on this device?
No. Since the way to load up books is via copying files from your computer via a cable, it means that Kindle books are not possible to be read in this device: it would need to have WiFi and support installing the Kindle app.
No wifi? How you can sideload book on that?
You can sideload content still yes, there's just no wi-fi.
I dont care about all the naysayers i like it. I just need to find a little case for the thing. Any suggestions??
A nearly perfect reader in my mind ,tiny size, page button,no apps, but no glowlight.
So moaan inkpad 5 maybe the better choice to replace my antique kindle 4(2011),and I can't find this reader in Chinese online market either Taobao ,JingDong or XianYu 😂
I want a 3.5" reader with psychical buttons for page turning and a light. Why can't i have the things i want?
Because unfortunately there is zero demand for that
@@goodereader but I thought the sky was green? 😭😣
This is so expensive that you can buy almost 3 kindles with the same price which I don’t think I will ever pay for something like this is I have more coins than the grains of sand.
Still cool though
If only it had a light :(
If it were $60 I'd buy it, seems fun, maybe take it to work or something in my pocket?
Yeah for sure, back in the day, 10 years ago you could get away with cheap devices like that. But with a decade of inflation, wars, climate change, shortages, logistics issues, worker shortages.. there's just simply no way you can get really really cheap units like that anymore. Especially with the rising costs of e ink panel components :(
@@goodereader If you are greedy just say so.
You have a point, we can't compare prices with those ten years ago. I'll ad that this is not a device from any major ebook manufacturer, it'd be easier (cheaper) for them to produce a device like this. Many have asked fir years for smaller ereaders, when a company makes one even though the big companies deemed it worthless, then we should support them.
It's about $47 in the Chinese market... they just lack a good way of selling it into the US market.
I like this one, but why there are games, apps etc? All I need is a reading device. Nothing more.
I guess if you finish your book on a long train trip, you have some games to fidget with to wear the battery out
Zero cost inclusion. No reason not to include them.
A no-frills reader that small costs $149.99? Seriously?
Yeah that's the price. In this day and age, it's not easy for companies to make things cheap anymore.
Unless your Amazon ahaha
@@goodereader Yeah that's the same old excuse they used since eons ago. Just unsubscribed. Best thing I did today.
$150 + $24 shipping? You're joking, right?
You can get even better device for cheaper including free shipping. My Kobe Grow is many years old, and was cheaper than this. And it has way better specs.
I would pay $35 max (prefer $25) including shipping.
Ya Good e-Reader sadly has lost their way.
Lol. What the hell are you talking about. This isn't our product
We don't make the prices. 🤣
@@goodereader I was just pointing out the price is extremely a bad deal. (at least for me.)
You may not set the price, but you do decided if the produce is listed or not. (if we are being fair.)
😩💰
More expensive than a kindle and does significantly less, PASS lol
Eh, make it a LOT cheaper and add stylus input and you'd have a decent notepad replacement. As it is? Meh. Too small to read comfortably on, no network, and that glossy screen..... ick.
