  • The Pocketbook Era has undergone a total redesign from their past products. It looks sleek. The Buttons have been removed from the bottom and now the page turns are on the side of the unit. This has resulted in the bezels being slimmer.
    In this review we take a look at the UI, reading experience, store and everything this brings to the table.

    It would be very nice to see a little comparision of text crispness/contrast between PB Era and anything from these one: Kobo Libra 2, Onyx Boox Leaf, Paperwhite 5 and (or Oasis 3). All these models have Carta 1200 (except Oasis with it's exclusive Carta screen). Software looks quite smooth and promising.

    Hello, everyone!
    I hope maybe one of you can help me finding the right e-reader for my needs.
    I'm looking for an e-reader that's compatible with books in English, German and Swedish, can be used at no risk while bathing and is sturdy enough to withstand beinh carried around in my backpack every day.
    My eyes are fit (no glasses needed) and I'm looking to spend about an hour a day reading.

    Have you experienced the ERA display problems as mentioned in another YT video called "Pocketbook Era Screen Review - It's Not Good" ?

    • @xaemaez
      @xaemaez Před rokem

      I wouldn't give it too much credit. The video basically just covers the complaints about how less bold the text is compared to other competitors like kobo or kindle. But it seems to be more of a personal preference from this person as they are just used to thicker text then a general flaw. I also read comments from people who solved this problem by just choosing another font. And I think it is too strong of a statement to call Era's screen "bad" just for that. If you turn the volume of this youtube video down and do not listen to what speaker says, the only difference I noticed is that kobo or kindle have smooth screen, when Era has edge light that becomes visible at night, but that's all.
      There is also a gradient problem on the screen people talk about, but some say it won't be even noticable if they did not hear it from others.
      As a device Era is much like advansed kobos or kindles but considering all said above about its screen, I put it for myself that Era is just more similar to a real book then other ereaders of the same class.

    • @atexnik
      @atexnik Před rokem +4

      Yeah, very bold and biased statements. In fact, Pocketbooks are not built as quality products as Kindle, if compared. I myself owned few models of PB, and they had horrible assembly quality and the internal construction wasn't as good as as other books. I doubt Era has much improved in that sense. The worst thing about the PB company is that they're deliberately not using any screen protection plate (they exist at least in Kindle devices) attaching battery directly to the back of the screen making it super sensitive to even slight pressure or deformation of battery. This leads to screen breakage, which PB never accepts as warranty case, but replacement can be carried out only by them, because of the uniquely tuned screens, this procedure can't be done at home.
